    Mine Overseer UG, D2, KRL107/23GS - Emalahleni

    The role:

    • Ensures the effective management of employees to achieve all Safety, Health, Environmental, Planning and Production targets.
    • Legal responsibility for all activities under his/her control with regards to safety
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management for his/her section with regards to safety, production and costs • Planning in short and medium term to ensure targets are met.
    • Communicates all relevant legal and operational policies, procedures, standards and guidelines and ensures that these are implemented and followed.
    • Ensure that operational planning and production targets are achieved.
    • Develops and maintains constructive working relationships with other operational managers to compliment the operational value chain.
    • Meeting production targets with strict adherence to maintenance and production schedules.

    Requirements:

    • BSc Eng., B Tech, Advanced Diploma, B Eng. or National Diploma in Coal Mining/Engineering
    • UG Blasting Certificate/Rock Breaking qualification for Fiery Mines
    • Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience as an appointed underground Shiftboss in a production environment
    • Completed 1000 UG risk shifts
    • Sound knowledge of Safety Systems, Regulations and Standards with high regard for safety and good safety record
    • Sound knowledge of underground operations
    • Good managerial, supervisory, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Ability to plan, co-ordinate, control activities, cope with pressure, innovative and a self-starter
    • Have sound knowledge of safety systems and standards and high regard to safety, regulations and standards
    • Computer literate: MS Office
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Reliability Engineer, D4, KRL017/24GS - Emalahleni

    The role:

    The role will facilitate implementation of world class asset management practices with the view to increase maturity and performance and advising the Engineering Manager on the Health of the Asset Register and associated risks to cost and performance.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Develop and manage the Asset Management improvement programmes for the site
    • Identify and manage equipment reliability risks that could adversely affect business performance
    • Implement core Asset Management processes such as Maintenance Tactics, Work Management and Defect Elimination
    • Cultivate a reliability and continuous improvement culture at the operation
    • Develop effective maintenance plans for equipment using RCM principals
    • Effectively manage and oversee condition monitoring, ensuring that standards and procedures are adhered to, as well as best practices are being implemented
    • Manage and oversee the Engineering Planning Department in order to ensure accurate planning and scheduling of all maintenance on equipment, ensuring that maintenance is being performed and the relevant information captured accurately
    • Manage and oversee the Technical Expediting function and the Subassembly Store
    • Financial Budgeting & Management
    • Manage equipment and maintenance performance reporting

    Requirements:

    • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the maintenance/reliability function
    • In depth experience in maintenance of OC/UG machinery/processing plants
    • Experience in condition monitoring
    • Proven technical and maintenance planning experience
    • Be able to design and implement sustainable systems
    • Sound knowledge of Mining Engineering Codes of practices, policies and procedures
    • A good knowledge of machinery and equipment used on the relevant operation
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Safety Coordinator UG, D1, KRL018/24GS

    The role:

    The role is responsible to continuously monitor and analyse safety, health & environment data and systems to minimize and mitigate employee exposure to unsafe and hazardous conditions. The role coordinates the maintenance of SHE systems by conducting daily, weekly and monthly analysis. Reporting the findings to the relevant line manager for action plans to be implemented and maintaining effective procedures and systems

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • To conform to legal requirements and duties of 2.17.4
    • Participate in Safety Audits ensuring all logistical arrangements in preparation for the audits are made
    • Participate in Operational Issue–based Risk Assessments and compile action plans from risk assessments performed
    • Setup, participate and co-ordinate departmental meetings with all necessary stakeholders, including line managers and
    • safety representatives
    • Compile reports
    • Conduct training and coaching

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Safety Management or working towards completion, 10 subjects as minimum completed L1
    • Minimum of 3 years underground mining experience in health and safety
    • Mining or Technical professional with relevant Safety training and sound performance record inclusive of 1 year in middle management positions
    • Learning from incidents investigation (LFI) experience
    • In depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Diseases Act
    • Good understanding of Operational Risk Management (ORM), safety management theory, behavioural safety and risk management framework procedures and systems
    • Knowledge of Safety Management systems 
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
