    Business Controller

    Job Description

    The Business Controller will be a Finance Business Partner for the allocated business as defined by the Regional Financial Controller in charge of full collaboration with business according to the standard policies and best practices, ensuring SGS customer and contract requirements are adhered to at all times. Candidates must have a positive and proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

    Qualifications

    Finance Business partner for the allocated business as defined by the Regional Financial Controller

    • Full collaboration with the business manager and team for full understanding of the operational structure and process unique to that business.
    • Able to assist other business controllers where necessary.
    • Analyse and report any financial risks within the business immediately to the Regional Financial Controller.
    • Ensure all Financial procedures, internal controls and Group Corporate Governance rules, are strictly adhered to at all times in the business.
    • Establish and maintain financial analytical reports and business plans as applicable to the business concerned.
    • Prepare financial budgets / forecasts with business direct input and analyze various outlooks/scenarios as requested by FC.
    • Full PL review by cost center on monthly basis, during the financial close, co ordinating closely with the business and finance to ensure completeness and accuracy of month performance.
    • Responsible to provide financial ‘heads up’ to the Regional Financial Controller on any deviation to month forecasted performance, throughout the month.
    • Accountable for the correct Unbilled Revenue and Work in Progress calculations for approval by the Regional Financial Controller on monthly basis.
    • Accountable for the Collections co-ordination/ tracking and Net Working Comments for the specific business allocated.
    • Required to fully understand the business strategy and provide feedback to Regional Financial Controller.
    • Involved in the costing process with final approval from the Regional Financial Controller. Responsible to ensure that contracts in that business are in place, compliant, and approved as per policy.
    • Co – ordinate all business requests (e.g., business credit applications and check all delinquent accounts receivables, new supplier requests, capex investments).
    • Analyze business processes and develop cost saving controls as well as constant feedback on actions to the Regional Financial Controller.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.

    Additional Information

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics / Accounting / Economics and/or Business Economics/Administration
    • B Com Degree
    • 5 Years’ experience in a corporate financial environment
    • Ability to adapt quickly and demonstrate flexibility - required

    Manager Minerals Trade Non Energy

    Job Description

    The Manager Minerals Trade Non-Energy is responsible to plan organise, manage, lead and control the operations and functions of the Natural Resources Mineral commodities specifically related to Steel Making Raw Materials, Non-Ferrous concentrates and Metals, Fertilizers, and Industrial Minerals, as well as to meet business objectives and to ensure compliance to the Company policies and business guidelines.

    Qualifications

    • Business unit handles sampling and analysis, weight control, visual inspection, loading supervision of bulk cargoes loaded / discharged from ocean going vessels and or shipping containers, Business unit also provides warehouse due diligence inspections, stock audit / inspections.
    • To plan, organize, lead, and control the Business Operations at all major South African ports and inland locations.
    • Manage and monitor operational performance.
    • Responsible for revenue and expense control of the Operations, in line with operational budgets and the business strategies.
    • Set annual budget targets in collaboration with the Business Manager.
    • Responsible for pricing policies in conjunction with the Business Manager.
    • Ensure that adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment and tools are available for total operational efficiency.
    • Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system, and the implementation of any certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
    • Control accounts receivable and DSO.
    • Responsible for fleet management.
    • Responsible for the effective implementation of SGS QHSE systems, as well as client specific safety standards (e.g., ISO 17025 & NOSA).
    • Ensure liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
    • Attend to all complaints and claim resolution.
    • Attend to technical and sales support as well as proposal co-ordination.
    • Keep abreast of new trends, current developments and relevant research.
    • Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
    • Conduct relevant monthly meetings with management and support staff.
    • Conduct monthly service level agreement performance meetings, with all business units, as well as with clients.
    • Quarterly client satisfaction surveys to be done with all stake holders.
    • Responsible for service level – Quality towards Business Managers and MD’s.
    • Ensure that all departments implement quality measures for ISO9001and ISO17020, and that accreditation and certification is obtained and maintained.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager

    Additional Information

    • Education and skills
    • National Diploma/Degree in Quality Management and/or Chemical Engineering – and/or 5 years proven experience in the sector or within the company in the functions, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning
    • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
    • Computer Literacy in word and excel.
    • Working Knowledge of ISO 17025Work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
    • Any other languages are an added advantage
