    Data Monitor CSP (Johannesburg Metro)

    Purpose of the position:

    The data monitor supports the M&E specialist. The data monitor plays a key role in ensuring a consistent flow of accurate VMMC data from a key population based within the unique environment of Correctional services. The role is responsible for coordinating data collection (source data), reporting, data quality interventions and verification and ensure it is reported timeously to TB HIV Care, the funder and DOH counterparts

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Degree/Diploma in health/ public health/ social sciences or another relevant field
    • Knowledge of VMMC data recording tools and Tier.net data management is essential.
    • Three years’ experience on data management, data verification and quality assurance
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data management, maintaining and/or updating databases; data verification / quality assurance experience
    • Minimum of 2 years’ data analysis experience
    • Three years’ experience with HIV, AIDS and STI programme data, TIER.Net, DHIS and information management background
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
    • Previous experience within the Correctional services is an advantage.
    • Intermediate level computer skills including MS Office
    • Proficiency in English, and any other local South African language

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage a database  on all VMMC data  for each correctional centre 
    • Manage a database on VMMC  for selected correctional centres (including adverse events / follow up etc)
    • Compiles routine data reports on all VMMC indicators.
    • Report all funder indicators timeously  to the M&E specialist and the funder.
    • Coordinates the implementation of new reporting tools and provide training at the correctional centres on data innovations
    • Responsible for optimising the recording of VMMC data tools in each correctional centre
    • Provides mentorship to DCS data staff on data flow requirements to ensure all captured and reported data is of high quality 
    • Build relationships with NDoH staff at sub-district level to ensure that the data is reporting into DHIS.
    • Assist the other data monitors in ensuring that quarterly data are retrieved and reported to sub-districts.
    • Assist with the preparation for Service Provider monthly invoice payments.
    • Attend and present in stakeholder meetings (health managers; continuum of care etc)
    • Compile internal and external reports as and when needed

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Capacity to work independently and to work well within a diverse team
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, good time management skills
    • Good facilitation and communication skills
    • Able to train users on VMMC M&E systems (CommCare)
    • Experience with reporting on TB/HIV, PEPFAR indicators and/or DOH statistics

    Non-Clinical Trainer (Correctional Services Programme)

    Purpose of the position:

    Provides non-clinical training to both inmates and DCS officials. Liaise and network with various stakeholders.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Basic HIV/TB, STI Training
    • Demand Generation Training
    • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:
    • Correctional Service
    • Basic Knowledge of VMMC
    • Demand Creation
    • Project Management
    • Facilitation
    • 2-3 years relevant experience
    • Valid Drivers License and ability to drive

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • To compile a skills plan for non- clinical staff in line with programme requirements
    • To plan non-clinical training according to correctional facilities needs and operational plans
    • To respond to non-clinical training requests and plan appropriate training
    • Liaise with project staff and coordinators to coordinate non-clinical training implementation
    • To plan and implement peer educator training in correctional facilities
    • Amending and revising training programs as necessary in order to adapt to changes in the field or sector
    • To provide input to non-clinical materials development processes as required
    • To facilitate non-clinical training programmes according to agreed standards, learning outcomes and approved curriculum
    • To conduct assessment for training where required and ensure learners are competent
    • Update own skills with training developments by attending relevant courses and meetings
    • Complete necessary report after each training session
    • Complete monthly timesheets and reports timeously
    • When and where necessary issue trainees with certificates
    • To comply with all other requirements as necessary
    • Identify relevant health calendar days (World TB Day, Condom Week, World AIDS Day)
    • Coordinate events/activities linked to health calendar days

    General Worker - eThekwini

    Purpose of the position:

    • To ensure that the offices are kept clean and tidy and that the refreshment areas are stocked with refreshments and crockery at all times

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12
    • Minimum of 1 years’ related experience and training
    • Ability to communicate in English and isiZulu languages

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Cleans all offices, training/meeting/boardrooms, kitchens and refreshment areas on a daily basis
    • Prepares tea/coffee for office staff or visitors
    • Maintains a constant supply of hot water by regularly replenishing the water in the urn
    • Maintains the kitchen in a clean and hygienic condition at all times
    • Spring cleans offices and meeting/public areas on a regular basis
    • Checks that there is sufficient stock of all consumables in the refreshment area
    • Places orders for stock of tea, coffee, milk and sugar timeously
    • Keeps the tea/coffee area stocked with clean crockery and cutlery
    • Maintains all cleaning equipment in good working order
    • Secures all cleaning equipment and materials
    • Reports all defects in cleaning equipment
    • Reports all issues with respect to the cleanliness and/or maintenance of the male and female toilets
    • Runs external errands from time to time
