    Senior Manager Engineering and Maintenance

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor (BSc or BEng) of Engineering in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Government Certificate of Competence in line with the requirements of General Machinery Regulations 2(4)(a)(ii). or
    • Btech of Engineering in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and Government Certificate of Competence in line with the requirements of General Machinery Regulations 2(4)(a)(ii). 

    Added Advantage:

    • Post graduate qualification in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 8)
    • Post Graduate Qualification in Management (NQF Level 8)
    • Project Management Diploma (NQF Level 6)
    • Formal management qualification, i.e. Senior Management Programme Certificate (SMP), Programme in Engineering Management (PEM), Project Management or equivalent 

    Minimum Experience:

    • At least 5 years management experience in general maintenance and engineering design
    • Sound knowledge of the implementation and management of an Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
    • Sound knowledge of asset management
    • Sound knowledge of the OHS Act, Regulations and legal requirements pertaining to the general supervision of machinery
    • Sound knowledge of SAMTRAC

    Key Outputs:

    Reporting to the Executive Manager: Operations, the appointee will:

    • Direct the maintenance of plant, equipment, buildings and property within the operational regions
    • Assign major repairs and maintenance to all equipment, buildings and facilities by daily liaison with the Senior Technicians to ensure optimum efficiency
    • Liaise with contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance services
    • Direct the planned maintenance system to ensure optimum efficiency of all equipment, plant and buildings within the operational regions
    • Oversee the execution of specialised allocated work by visiting works, providing high-level technical expertise and assessing the quality of completed work
    • Ensure the design of new schedules for plant not included in a planned maintenance system to ensure optimum efficiency of all equipment
    • Provide technical and engineering support to the organisation
    • Provide technical and engineering support to the Operations, Planning and Development Divisions
    • Review and maintain design applications and software of the Operations Division in conjunction with others
    • Control specialised material requirements of maintenance within the operational regions
    • Oversee stock levels of specialised spares and equipment to minimise plant outage time
    • Ensure that accurate stock control measures are applied in order to minimise wasteful expenditure
    • Ensure all operations meet the statutory requirements to minimise accidents and incidents by monitoring of an adequate safety regime within the operational regions
    • Ensure that all statutory requirements are implemented and executed as defined in the OHSACT 85 of 1993 by performing the GMR 2.1 functions for the 16.1 appointee
    • Ensure all Amatola Water staff are adequately trained with respect to applicable safety regulations
    • Control the Financial Resources of the operational regions
    • Oversee prioritisation of major projects and refurbishments to ensure correct work allocation
    • Prepare and motivate with MANCO the annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for accurate cost control
    • Oversee Human Resources within the operational regions
    • Manpower planning in order to ensure correct staff compliments within regions
    • Appraise and counsel staff as required for increased performance outputs
    • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements

    Project Implementation Officer

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • National Diploma in Business Administration

    Minimum Experience:

    • 3 years’ experience in the development and implementation of projects
    • Experience in Built/Construction/Project Management environment

    Key Outputs:
    Reporting to the PMU Manager, the appointee will:

    • Ensure the implementation of Readiness and Preparatory Support projects
    • Perform the function of the Implementation Entity Task Manager on project under implementation, working closely with PMU Manager to ensure project are implemented as per Funder and IA
    • Provide support to the PMU Manager in managing the Executing Entity Partner Agreement as the IA
    • Support the PMU Manager to design, develop, provide technical advice and assistance on priority projects for submission to our Funders
    • Project concept notes/proposals developed with clear implementation /execution plan
    • Establish and maintain relationships with partners, funder and donors to access financial support
    • Develop and maintain relationship with members to support the implementation of projects
    • Support the Project Management Unit to ensure that Funder is up to date with donor and funding landscape and provide advice of any anticipated changes, risks or opportunities that may rise during project implementation as a result of changes to donor and funding policies
    • Contribute to ensuring that projects are implemented in accordance with funders and donor.
    • Support the PMU Manager to implement the screening process and assist to make recommendation on project progress including issues that require the attention of Funder or donor.
    • Provide guidance and plans for the staff and members on the implementation of projects
    • Contribute to the capacity building priorities of staff and members on project implementation /execution
    • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements

    SHEQ Specialist

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Business Management / Safety Management or Industrial Psychology qualification.
    • (Safety Management Training Courses)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Post graduate qualification in Health & Safety Management or Bcom honours in Industrial Psychology

    Required Professional Registration

    • Registration with SACPCMP or SACE Council registration

    Minimum Experience:

    • 5 years management experience in the implementation of a SHEQ system
    • Experience in Health and Safety Management, ideally in Construction/Property Management

    Key Outputs:
    Reporting to the Senior Manager Engineering and Maintenance, the appointee will:

    • Develop, maintain and promote the Amatola SHEQ System
    • Lead, organise, monitor and follow up on progress to ensure that each department’s tasks, targets and objectives are met
    • Provide assistance, advice and guidance to Line Managers and SHEQ Officers with the implementation and maintenance of Amatola Water’s IMS system
    • Manage the Internal Auditing of the SHEQ system by evaluating Amatola Water’s effective implementation of procedures and methodologies to conform to SHEQ requirements
    • Lead and perform audits in accordance with principles, processes and methodologies as described in ISO 45001:2018; the International Standards Organisation Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2004); and the International Standards Organisation Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2008)
    • Plan and organise all aspects of an audit, including document reviews and conformance evaluation activities
    • Develop and implement hazard identification and risk assessment systems for all departments in order to facilitate effective risk reduction plans and actions
    • Ensure that holistic risk assessments identification (the occupation hygiene, chemicals, major hazardous installations and baseline risk assessments) are implemented throughout Amatola Water
    • Formulate, develop, amend and revise the existing work procedures, safety standards and policies
    • The management and administration of the construction contracts and processes, including the preparation and coordination of the necessary documentation to facilitate effective execution of the works
    • Promote awareness and understanding of SHE aspects to entrench a SHEQ culture within departments
    • Investigate accidents and incidents, report and provide recommendations to avoid further occurrence of similar incidents
    • Identify and ensure that all staff is adequately trained with respect to applicable safety regulations in order to create safety awareness
    • Perform monthly and annual trend analysis and interpretation in order to (1) pro-actively and systematically reduce the severity and frequency of SHE incidents and (2) conserve resources
    • Manage SHEQ training
    • Conduct Occupational hygiene surveys
    • Manage all resources of the unit
    • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements
