MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Applicants must possess: 

• A relevant Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 8) in Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, Commerce, Economics, Finance, or a related field. 
• A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage. 
• Membership or registration with a recognised professional body, where applicable, will be advantageous. 

EXPERIENCE

Applicants should demonstrate: 

• At least ten (10) years' experience at senior management, executive management or board level within the automotive industry. 
• Proven experience in one or more of the following areas: Automotive manufacturing and assembly; 
• Automotive component manufacturing; 
• Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs); 
• Automotive supply chains and logistics; 
• Industrialisation and localisation programmes; 
• Automotive investment promotion and facilitation; 
• Innovation, technology development and advanced manufacturing; 
• Enterprise and supplier development within the automotive sector; 
• Public-private partnerships and industry stakeholder engagement. 

ADDED ADVANTAGES 

Preference will be given to candidates who have: 

• Previous board or committee experience within public entities, state-owned companies or private sector organisations; 
• Experience working with major automotive manufacturers, component suppliers or industry associations; 
• Knowledge of the Eastern Cape automotive sector and its contribution to regional economic development; 
• Experience in investment attraction, industrial development and enterprise development initiatives.

Key Performance Areas include: 

• Attain financial and operational sustainability whilst delivering of the ECDC mandate.
• Enable a sustainable, development-driven economic growth of the Province, by stimulating activity in selected sectors and all geographic areas. 
• Lead on matters relating to the 4th Industrial Revolution, Innovation and digitization. 
• Manage Strategic stakeholder relations across the board. 
• Formulation of policy and contribution to the Board of Directors. 
• Ensure that relevant government strategies relevant to the mandate of ECDC are fully implemented and integrated in the ECDC offerings. 
• Offer strategic leadership, executive management, responsible entrepreneurship, ambassadorship, and statutory compliance. 
• Ensure that the Corporation’s strategies, policies, procedures and resources are effectively and efficiently planned and implemented to comply with the requirements of the PFMA and the ECDC Act. 
• Ensure that skills development for corporate and business unit staff is effectively initiated and implemented, in order to optimize capacity and core competencies.
• Identify and secure key strategic and operational alliances for the Corporation in the public, private and developmental sectors. 
• Provide leadership to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness 
• Oversee governance, control and legal systems 
• Develop and maintain a shared vision and mission amongst management and staff, so that the organization survives and thrives whilst assuming total responsibility for the Corporation. 

Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in relevant field, preferably in commerce or development finance, is required. An MBL or MBA will be an advantage. 
• 10 years of working experience at an Executive level. 
• Experience in development finance institutions, lending environment or private sector commercial environment is desirable 
• Knowledge of public sector working will be advantageous.
