    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION

    • Matric
    • Full NQF 4 qualification (Fais short-term Commercial & Specialist)
    • 3 year diploma / degree in business management, communication or marketing will be an advantage
    • Other specialist risk and insurance qualifications (NQF 5 or 6)

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 5 years’ short-term insurance experience, preferably in an intermediary environment
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Marine Specialist
    • Proven ability to source and develop new business
    • Must have a comprehensive understanding of the local & overseas Marine Insurance Market

      • Implement a strategy to achieve growth within the existing Indwe client base through application of agreed key result areas
      • Ensure a uniform application of the FAIS General Code of Conduct and in particular the Risk Needs Analysis on Business and Individual lines.
      • Develop specific strategies for growth on identified Growth Products per line of business e.g. Cargo, Freight Forwarder’s Liability, etc.

    Commercial Underwriter

    Job description

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION

    • Matric
    • Level 4 FETC Short-term Insurance Qualification
    • Higher Certificate in Insurance
    • Post matric qualification is an advantage (BComm Risk/Accounting, BBA)
    • RE qualification

    EXPERIENCE

    • Commercial Underwriter
    • Minimum 7 years short term insurance with 7 of the 10 years in a commercial account servicing service, claims and underwriting capacity
    • Experience in customer and Internal staff liaison; building and maintaining relationships
    • Experience working in a Brokerage is preferred

      • Manage and assisting Broker Administrators with
      • Obtain full details regarding client risk required tquote
      • Request quotes from insurers
      • Quotes must be submitted to independent brokers within SLA time-frames
    • TECHNICAL BROKING & ADMINISTRATION

      • Obtain quotes and negotiate with selected markets
      • Upon acceptance of quote, ensure receipt of signed proposal instruction and debit order forms (where applicable)

      • Ensure data integrity on all systems

      • Attend tall client queries (revision/ renewals, rate negotiations with insurers, amendments, cancellations, unpaid premiums)
      • Attend taudit lists regarding information captured intthe system
      • Minimise cancellations through regular and pro-active dealings with clients
      • Assist clients with claims related problems and report all deviations tmanagement
      • Service Clients in accordance with the Indwe Minimum Commercial Service Standards
    • CLIENT SERVICE ADMINISTRATION
      • Adhere to FAIS requirements and set company procedures
      • Ensure that policies and endorsements are loaded ontthe system
      • Ensure that claims are registered and follow-up until claim is finalized.
      • Maintain renewal lists and ensure that renewal schedules are sent tclients
      • Responsible for proactive underwriting
      • Business administration - new, amendments, additions, renewals
      • Ensure all communication with the client is in accordance with FAIS minimum standards
      • General correspondence and e-mails tclients according tcompany standards
      • Compile and submit reports on time tline manager as per set standard
      • Accurate and Prompt Partner registration and ensure that payments are made
    • PERFORM CREDIT CONTROL
      • Advise relevant parties of unpaid items
      • Ensure compliance with section 20 Buss (extension of credit)
