    Financial Data Analyst (Accounting Data) - Stellenbosch

    Your key responsibilities

     

    • Study and develop a deep understanding of clients’ accounting needs and portfolio structures
    • Review and analyze investment transactions, as well as monthly/quarterly fund level accounting packages and quarterly fund level financial statements
    • Analyze, reorganize, transcribe, map, and verify sourced data by adhering to a predefined set of policies and procedures, as well as the client-specific needs in preparation for platform upload
    • Data validation, reconciliation, visual data inspection and comparison of fund- and portfolio-level values, returns and transactions
    • Make recommendations about improvements of policies and procedures
    • Communicate data issues and data trends with colleagues and managers
    • Any additional ad-hoc tasks assigned by manager

    Your skills and experience that will help you excel

     

    • Undergraduate degree in Finance/Information Systems/Accounting/Economics. Honours degree preferred.
    • Interest in process automation and tool enhancements
    • Strong interest in Big Data, Financial Markets, Accounting Principles, and Automation
    • Partnership or investment accounting experience is an advantage
    • Strong MS Excel skills – Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting, Conditional Formulas, Data Reorganization and Customization
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet reporting deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility with delivery of assignments
    • Team Player – ability to work well in a team, professional and respectful to colleagues.

    Senior Financial Data Analyst (Investment Operations)

    Your key responsibilities

    • Detailed review and analysis of private capital fund financial reporting and online resources to accurately identify relevant fund and company level financial data within the IBOR team.
    • Capture, enhance and maintain large volumes of financial data within the IBOR team.
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of fund valuations, capital flows, performance reporting methodologies, financial statement metrics and industry classification standards.
    • Perform audits and other quality control functions for the content set.
    • Comply with all data policies, standards and processes.

    Your skills and experience that will help you excel

    • Undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Commerce) - Majors in Investment Analyses, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Business Management & Information System preferred.
    • 2 - 3 years relevant experience
    • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive mindset
    • Strong numerical ability and excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
    • Highly organized and self-disciplined
    • High levels of focus and the ability to work with and accurately process large volumes of financial data.
    • Positive attitude and desire to learn.
