    Plennegy Research: Junior Tunnel Manager

    Description

    • A role has become available for Junior Tunnel Manager for our Research and Development Department based in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to manage all structures on the Research Farm for the purpose of protective cropping to ensure that research activities can be carried out effectively and efficiently.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    •  General hygiene, appearance, and tidiness around all tunnel structures
    •  Working closely with breeders to determine ideal growing conditions
    •  Program/adjust seasonal/ daily settings influencing climate control
    •  Monitor, maintain, and service
    •  Monitor general plant appearance
    •  Fertigation
    •  Pest and disease control
    •  Familiarise himself with the latest technology
    •  Supervision of staff/ labour
    •  Administrative duties

    Requirements
    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Diploma in Agriculture (Essential)

    • Mascor is currently looking for a Working Foreman to co-ordinate and direct the service department workload to maximize efficiency and productivity whilst maintaining high standards and to manage the technicians in an appropriate manner to maintain high customer satisfaction

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Customer service
    • Ensure customer satisfaction is at 100% and all queries are attended to timeously.

    • Ensure the Service Department achieves budget objectives by continual (weekly/monthly) examination of accounts, operating controls and composite figures to allow the necessary improvements and corrective action to be taken where variations occur.
    • To operate the service department efficiently which will be measured by 85 % achievement of labour utilization.
    • 100 % achievement of labour productive efficiency
    • 85 % achievement of overall labour sales efficiency
    • Ensure accurate invoicing and job costing in the service department which will be monitored by the achievement of a labour recovery rate.
    • To ensure premises and equipment and other assets are controlled and used effectively.
    • Plan and allocate the technician's work based on their skill, expertise, and experience.
    • Monitor and boost warranty and service package sales.
    • Manage the service schedule, and warranty claims.
    • Direct and assist technicians to ensure repairs are completed to the desired standard.
    • Maintain service processes, policies, and guidelines and ensure that they are carried out safely.
    • To check completed work and ensure parts and labour are fully accounted for.
    • Maintain workshop discipline and organization, ensuring cleanliness and safety of the working environment.
    • Communicate with the Branch/Sales Manager on a regular basis to review workshop performance and address any specific issues.
    • Coordinate with the Branch/Sales Manager over the training needs and experience of the workshop team, and delegate tasks to match these needs.
    • Responsibility for the special tool inventory and recommendation of the purchase of new tools if necessary
    • To maintain effective control of expenses in line with budget objectives by monthly examination of management accounts.

    Experience:

    •  5 – 7 Year’s experience as a Service Technician.

    Starke Ayres: Bookkeeper - Cape Town

    Description

    • A role has become available for a Bookkeeper in our Finance department based in Cape Town. The purpose of this role is to accurately record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process, assisting the Finance team to bring the books to the trial balance stage and ensure up to date. Perform partial checks on the posting process. Reconciling balance sheet accounts and assisting with company VAT returns.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensures timeous and accurate postings of financial information monthly (RSA and Namibia)
    • Ensures timeous and accurate postings of the following monthly to comply with Group reporting requirements:
    • Bank information
    • Garden Centre information
    • Fleet Information
    • Lease agreements (vehicles)
    • Other as requested by manager

    Bank Reconciliation(RSA and Namibia)

    • Performs monthly cash book reconciliations and addresses outstanding transactions with the relevant departments.
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations (RSA and Namibia)
    • Performs monthly reconciliations on balance sheet accounts, ensuring that balances on accounts are supported and addressed, and any unreconciled items are cleared. 

    VAT Returns 

    • Assists the Financial Manager with preparing the VAT returns 

    Filing

    • Ensures that all documents are stored in a safe, orderly, and accessible manner whether electronically or hard copies. 

    General

    • Assists with the year-end audit by completing annual reconciliations as requested by the Financial Manager and providing the audit team with the support required
    • Adhoc requests by Financial Director for Financial Manager

    Requirements

    •  Matric
    •  Bachelor’s degree finance or Bookkeeping diploma (degree preferable)
    •  5 Years Experience as a bookkeeper
    •  MS Office and MS Teams - Advanced Excel
    •  Sage X3 (preferable)
    •  Good understanding of accounting knowledge
    •  Reconciliations
    •  Good understanding of systems (ERP)
    •  Capturing to trial balance
