Key Performance Areas.

Amongst others, the key performance areas include:

• Setting up and driving the implementation of balance-sheet management activities.
• Ensuring compliance with group policies on investment.
• Working closely with group treasury, investment and capital management.
• Assuming responsibility for actuarial asset liability management.
• Assuming responsibility for asset manager relationship and management.
• Assuming responsibility for the income statement emanating from balance sheet management activities.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience.

• Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA/FASSA).
• Circa 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the financial services and life insurance industry.
• In depth know how and experience in respect of life insurance products.

• Assuming full responsibility for the entire value chain of the property underwriting function in the company.
• Assuming responsibility for support and service to all external and internal stakeholders, i.e. clients, brokers, agents/intermediaries, etc.
• Ensuring that the company operates at the leading edge in the marketplace, offering best in class services and solutions.

Requisite Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies.

• Relevant graduate qualification, e.g. a B Com Degree or similar.
• Insurance qualifications, e.g. at least 120 FAIS credits, an RE1, etc.
• Well-developed short-term insurance industry knowledge and functional competence.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Well-developed numeracy and computational and mathematical ability.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid and proven property underwriting skills and experience spanning at least 5 years in the South African short-term insurance environment.
