    Lecturer x2

    Critical Performance Areas

    • To provide remedial lecturing duties for programming with Java language and Computational mathematics: Theory, Tutorial & Practical through multimodal delivery.
    • Other Lecturing duties e.g., invigilating, marking scripts, processing marks on learning management system, assess/moderate, online material development, and video development.
    • Attend activities of the Unit e.g., meetings, mentorship/tutorship panel interviews, workshops, events etc.
    • Pursue post-grad studies and engage in research and publication.
    • Establish/participate in an ICT-related community engagement project(s).
    • Other relevant academic duties are required by the unit/academic manager e.g., curriculum review and development, module coordination and content development.

    Requirements

    Academic Qualification

    • A relevant Master’s degree in the field of computing (NQF Level 9) in Computer Science, or
    • Master’s degree in a related field with a Computer Science topic.
    • An undergraduate qualification with at least level 2 Mathematics and Programming is required.

    Experience

    • At least 3 years of lecturing experience in Mathematics and/or Programming, and/or 3 years relevant industry experience.
    • Experience in foundation / Extended course lecturing will be a strong recommendation.
    • Lecturing experience in Java is a strong recommendation.

    • Proven track record of working with international funding agencies, including proposal development and grant acquisition.
    • Demonstrated experience in donor interaction, cultivation, and stewardship, with the ability to maintain and grow funding relationships.
    • Administrative and operational support related to fundraising, including donor reporting, database management, and compliance tracking
    • Building and maintaining funding partnerships, with a focus on aligning donor priorities with organizational needs.

    Associate Professor

    Critical Performance Areas

    • Teaching and Learning in any of the Mathematics modules in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
    • Leading role in developing and revising the curriculum in collaboration with industry and other stake holders that are aligned to the strategic vision of the Department.
    • Publication of articles in peer reviewed DHET accredited journals.
    • Presentations at local and international conferences.
    • Successful supervision of masters and doctorate students as well as external examiner or supervisor of students from other universities/instititions.
    • Leading a research group with particular emphasis on the training and supervision of postgraduate students.
    • Invited speaker at conferences, co-chair/organiser of a conference, editorial board, journal reviewer.
    • Ability to attract external funding for research and to be a leader in one of the research niche areas/focus areas of the Department.
    • Liaising with industry and other stakeholders regarding excursions, research and community projects.
    • Participation and administrative leadership in the Departmental, Faculty and Institutional committees and activities relating to the learning programs of the Department.
    • Academic leadership in the Department and Academic citizenship.

    Minimum Requirements

    Academic qualifications:

    • A relevant Doctoral degree in Mathematics.

    Experience:

    • Five (5) years experience at Senior Lecturer position teaching, research and/or industry with evidence of not more than 5 years for publications in peer-reviewed accredited journals.
    • Post-graduate student training, supervision and graduation.
    • NRF rating is a recommendation.

    Full Professor x1

    Key performance areas/Core functions:

    • Presenting lectures and assessing students in Building Sciences subjects
    • Be responsible for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning.
    • Ensuring that the capturing of marks is done (< 10 working days after date of evaluation)
    • Involvement in Departmental or individual community projects.
    • Industrial research, including accredited articles and peer-reviewed conference papers.
    • Updating of the electronic base system of the Faculty like D2L-Brightspace, SharePoint and TUT4life.
    • Assist with new curriculum development in terms of the HEQSF.
    • Lead research activities of the department especially in the field of Building Sciences
    • Lead quality teaching and learning with technology.
    • Lead subject and curriculation committees.
    • Responsible for, and provide leadership in, compiling and maintaining quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning material.
    • Participate in, and lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas.
    • Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions.
    • Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding.

    Minimum Requirement

    Academic qualifications:

    • A first degree in Building/Quantity Surveying/Construction Management.
    • Doctoral Degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/Construction Economics/Building.

    Experience:

    • Five years’ experience at the Associate Professor level and compliance with the policy on Academic appointments and/or promotions.
    • Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of programmes, student affairs and research projects.
    • Experience in research and postgraduate supervision.
    • Industry liaison and involvement in the development of new curricula
    • Experience in leading research chairs, Niche Areas and Centres.

    Registration with a professional body (if applicable):

    • Registration with SACQSP and/or SACPCMP is highly recommended
