    Product Specialist - MV Drives

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    • In this role, you will have the opportunity to Manages the marketing of ABB's offering(s) to targeted market segments and manages the offering(s) throughout its/their lifecycle, in line with market needs and division/product group/business line strategy and targets.
    • Accountable for the long-term profitable growth of an offering.
    • Supports business results by overseeing each step involved in the offering lifecycle including development, launch, go-to-market, maintenance, pricing, and profitability.
    • Work model: Office based

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Lead market intelligence, define product roadmaps, manage lifecycle from development to end-of-life, and ensure alignment with market needs and profitability goals.
    • Define customer value propositions, coordinate pricing strategies, and ensure competitive positioning across segments and markets.
    • Collaborate with R&D, sales, supply chain, and operations to align product specifications, targets, and deliverables that maximize market value.
    • Track product performance, manage global pricing consistency, oversee inventory and tender volumes, and support product launch and training initiatives.

    Qualifications for the Role

    • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Product management with knowledge of MV drives and systems.
    • Experience of business development. (preferred)
    • Market and products specific knowledge of large motors and MV drives products will be beneficial.
    • A National Diploma / University degree (engineering background preferable)
    • English proficiency both in written and oral.
    • Excellent presentation skills.
    • Proficient in computer skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels.

    Motion Front End Sales

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the sales of products/systems/services within a designated market/division, in line with the division strategy.
    • Achieves both qualitative and quantitative sales targets to ensure sustainable order growth, revenues, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction. Responsible to identify and develop new sales opportunities.
    • Work model: Office based

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Focus on achieving volume, mix, and profitability targets by selling ABB’s products, systems, and services, while identifying and developing new market opportunities.
    • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to understand their needs, promote ABB’s full offering, and ensure a positive experience throughout the sales process.
    • Prepare and manage sales plans using ABB tools, coordinate offers with relevant departments and ensure technical and financial accuracy in proposals.
    • Support marketing activities, manage sales administration, assist in project management and cash collection, and communicate clearly on delivery, payment, and contract terms.

    Qualifications for the Role

    • National Diploma / University degree (engineering background preferable)
    • Minimum 5 years track record in sales or engineering related field to demonstrate capability to achieve business results.
    • Experience of business development with sales records for new customers/markets.
    • Market and products specific knowledge of drive products is compulsory.
    • Experience with sales of electrical or mechanical products.
    • Proficient in computer skills

    • You’ll play a key role in selling our cutting-edge products, systems, and services helping customers in Power & Water and Oil & Gas industries achieve operational excellence and sustainability.

    Qualifications for the role

    We’re looking for a driven and customer-focused professional who thrives in a dynamic, technical sales environment.

    To succeed in this role, you should bring the following:

    • Proven experience in driving sales and nurturing long-term customer relationships within the Energy Sector, specifically in industrial automation and electrical service offerings.
    • 10 to 15 years of overall professional experience, with 5 to 10 years specifically in service sales within Industrial Automation Control Systems or Electrical Engineering services. A strong track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets is essential, along with the ability to navigate complex technical environments and build lasting customer relationships.
    • Strong foundational knowledge of industrial automation and electrical systems, enabling you to confidently engage in technical conversations and understand customer requirements. While in-depth expertise in ABB-specific technologies is not mandatory, a solid grasp of key concepts such as control systems, instrumentation, and electrical infrastructure is essential to effectively position solutions, communicate value, and build credibility with clients.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical solutions and deliver compelling value propositions to customers.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling you to understand customer challenges and propose effective, tailored solutions.
    • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a closely related technical field is preferred.
    • Alternatively, candidates with a National Higher Diploma will also be considered, provided they can demonstrate industry experience and relevant certifications.
    • Proficiency in English, with confidence in both verbal and written communication, is essential for effectively engaging with clients and internal teams.
    • French language skills are preferred but not mandatory and would be considered a valuable asset for interacting with French-speaking stakeholders or expanding into Francophone markets.
    • Valid driver’s license to support regional travel.
    • Candidates should also possess a valid passport to facilitate cross-border travel within the sub-Saharan region, as needed.
    • Additional certifications relevant to the role of our industry will be considered an advantage.
    • Additionally, registration with relevant professional bodies such as ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa), SAIEE (South African Institute of Electrical Engineers), or SAIMM (Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy) is highly desirable, as it reflects a commitment to professional standards and continuous development within the industry.
