    3x Enrolled Nurses (ICU) – Rondebosch Medical Centre

    Description

    • Employment opportunities are available for 3x Enrolled Nurses (NICU), reporting to the Unit Manager.
    • The successful candidates will form part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring that all our patients receive comprehensive quality nursing care.

    Critical Outputs

    • Maintain all health, safety and infection control standards to ensure a safe patient environment
    • Minimize unnecessary stock wastage

    • A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse (AICU Qualified/Experienced) reporting to the Unit Manager.

    Critical Outputs

    • Effective cost management for staff and stock by:
    • Minimising unnecessary stock wastage and facilitating maintenance of equipment.
    • Providing quality patient care.
    • Assist in identifying and ensuring staff undergo department specific micro-orientation.
    • Ensuring daily care rounds are conducted and investigating complaints.
    • Providing accurate, appropriate and adequate information to patients and family members during hospitalization.
    • Providing effective risk management (SHEQ & infection control) by:
    • Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risk.
    • Comply with all requirements in order to facilitate infection control.
    • Conducting effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Identifying doctor’s preferences and stakeholders needs and implement in the working environment.

    Requirements

    • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
    • Relevant qualification or experience in specialty (ICU)
    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
    • Two years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse in ICU in private healthcare or
    • Minimum of five-years previous experience as EN in ICU
    • Computer proficiency.

    Unit Manager (NICU - Readvertised) – Rondebosch Medical Centre

    Description

    • An opportunity exists for a Unit Manager (Neonatal ICU) reporting to the Nursing Services Manager.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring and monitoring the quality nursing care coordinating the multidisciplinary team in the unit.

    Critical Outputs

    • Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
    • Provide cost effective quality patient care in line with clinical governance.
    • Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all international standards precautions are adhered to.
    • Implement quality initiatives. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.
    • Function as clinical expert in achieving patient outcomes.
    • Ensure competence of staff and students, determine and drive criteria for effective professional socialization, create an environment conducive to learning and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
    • Promote customer satisfaction within unit, address customer complaints, conduct quality care rounds and clinical practice audits to monitor care levels and report accordingly.
    • Identify clinical and safety risks and trends in all of the above, implement corrective action where necessary and monitor on an ongoing basis.
    • Initiate and drive unit specific best operating practice, communicate these for wider implementation and participate in hospital specific marketing initiatives.
    • Ensure staff are trained on the operation of equipment within unit and together with relevant stakeholders ensure equipment is in working order to provide a safe patient environment.
    • Build and maintain productive relationships with doctors by agreeing on a professional code of conduct, driving and monitoring effective communication regarding positive patient outcomes.

    Requirements

    • Degree or Diploma in nursing with at least 5 years’ experience in ICU.
    • Qualification in Critical Care Nursing.
    • Current registration with SANC.
    • Previous Unit Management experience.
    • Proven leadership and people management skills would be an advantage.
    • Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and supply chain management principles.
    • Computer proficiency.
