Job Description:
Kumba Iron Ore has the ambition to achieve benchmark performance in the fields of safety and productivity across its value chain by 2023. The rapid implementation of relevant, best in class technology is seen as a key enabler in this journey as some of your responsibilities will include:
Develop a recommended KIO mining industry strategy with roadmap (taking into consideration the Anglo American technology trademark), identifying key technical themes and programs which may be of value to KIO.
Evaluate and make recommendation of relevant technology programs for KIO to take forward.
Implement approved project portfolio.
Develop practical and appropriate change management processes for use during project implementation.
Support and monitor the execution of the technology roadmap
Support the development and approval of business cases and budgets
Contribute input into Anglo American technology initiatives and strategy.
Develop and maintain a network of key technology partners, stakeholders (including AA and DMR) and service providers so as to keep abreast of developments which might have potential benefit for KIO.
Provide technology input and support for projects.
This role is in the Technology department at a Band 5 level.
Qualifications:
Degree in Metallurgical/Mining/Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering
Post Graduate qualification in Metallurgical / Mining / Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering
Projects qualification would be advantageous
Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light vehicle)
Experience:
Operational experience in mining operations and some experience in technology development and implementation.

Job Description:
The Section Engineer is a 2.13.1/2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible to provide operational service to the Section Engineering Manager, with a 1-year planning horizon. The role ensures effective and safe movement of men, ore and material in the plant and the associated maintenance and construction linked to the Operational Area of responsibility.

Setting daily-, weekly- and monthly technical targets
Approval of sections’ leave rosters
Interpretation of the legal standards
Shutting down the section
Determining work priorities
Calling out specialist expertise when problems occur
Veto on individual resources on their shift
Changing plans and schedules on the shift to minimise the effect of unexpected problems
Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
Agreeing employees’ leave and overtime
Identifying employees suitable for further training
Disciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures

This role forms part of the Engineering department of Rustenburg Base Metals Refiners reporting to the Section Engineering Manager with multiple section reports.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Completed National Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering
Completed Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) for Mines and Works
Completed or in the process of completing a postgraduate qualification would be advantageous
Required Experience:
A minimum of 5 years demonstrated post GCC experience
Experience within a plant and/or refinery environment would be highly advantageous
Other Requirements:
Advanced computer literacy
Valid Certificate of Fitness
Valid South African Drivers License
