    Section Engineering Manager Production

    Job Description

    • As the Section Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the overall engineering asset management across a clearly defined portion of the overall complex operation.

    The focus areas for this role will be to:

    • Ensures compliance to all group, BU and other engineering and asset management standards and specifications within the area of accountability.
    • Accountable and ensures the implementation of key strategic initiatives such as the operating model, asset management and SIB deployment
    • Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy but has direct accountability for the execution of such strategies within the area of accountability
    • Develops sets and manages the engineering and maintenance budgets
    • To lead and or solicit the help of group technical expertise for complex or repeated failure modes.
    • SIB projects planning and execution in collaboration with the Site PMO office
    • Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
    • Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy but has direct accountability for the execution of such strategies within the area of accountability.

    This role is in the Technical Engineering Services Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager and Concentrator Manager.

    Qualifications

    • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)
    • Post-graduate qualification in engineering will be advantageous.
    • Five years Post Engineering qualification experience
    • Experience in SAP Planned Maintenance
    • Concentrator plant experience (advantageous)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Computer literacy
    • Medically fit

    Mining Engineer: Drilling and Blasting Technical

    Job Description
    As a Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Monitor blasting activities, analyse results and submit recommendations to achieve the desired fragmentation.
    • Scrutinise, inspect and approve blast block designs to ensure safe blasting practices and conformance to set standards.
    • Design Drill Patterns
    • All drill and blast processes are carried out within the guidelines of the company policies and procedures
    • Identify blast domains applicable at the mine in accordance with drill and blast parameters defined according to sound engineering principles.
    • Design drill and blast patterns for each blast domain identified above to optimise fragmentation and satisfy grade control requirements according to the mine’s requirements and the company’s technical standards and guidelines.
    • Conduct continuous improvement of the blast design process to ensure that advances in principles and applications are incorporated into the performance of the drill and blast processes.
    • Ensure that all drill and blast activities (drilling, bench/face preparation, charging, blasting, etc.) are carried out in accordance with design specifications that satisfy the mine’s requirements and are in accordance with the company’s technical standards and guidelines.
    • Ensure that deviations between the designs and actuals of work done on all drill and blast activities are identified and appropriate actions are taken to mitigate and eliminate the effects of such deviations and ensure that occurrences of such deviations are minimised.
       

    This role is in the Drill and Blast department at Band 6 and reports to the Section Manager: Drill & Blast Technical

    Qualifications

    • BTech/ BSc/ BEng Mining Engineer Degree/Diploma or BSc/BEng Geology
    • Blasting/ Rock Breaking Certificate
    • Explosives engineering training (Advantageous)
    • Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)

    Experience:

    • Operational experience of as a Blasting/Drilling Specialist within a Mining operations environment
    • 3-6 years’ experience in Production, Blasting Operations, mine planning & pit layout
