    Assistant Fire Fighters X 6

    Job Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Between 18 and 35 years
    • Valid code B or C1 Driving Licence
    • Fluent in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa – Read, Write and Speak)
    • NO CRIMINAL record and police security clearance(not older than 3 months) or proof of payment to be submitted with application
    • Must be physically fit and mentally health
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • High level of responsibility
    • Must work overtime when required
    • Candidates must reside within the Bergrivier Municipal area.

    Duties:

    • To perform basic firefighting and disaster management functions.

    Remuneration:

    • R 250 per day

    Work Hours:

    • 40 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to work after-hours and over weekends
    • Must also on request, from time to time render services in other parts of the municipal area

    Internship X 5 (Piketberg)

    Job Requirements:

    • The Local Government SETA (LGSETA) has set up an internship programme to manage capacity building in municipalities
    • Interns will undergo practical experience and further training in construction management
    • The appointment will be valid for 12 months
    • Competence in at least two (2) of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans / English / Xhosa – Writing, Reading and Speaking)
    • Good human relations, interpersonal and communication skills ∙
    • Ability to give attention to detail
    • High level of responsibility
    • Basic knowledge of construction management.

    The following qualification will receive preference:

    • Diploma in Construction Management

    Key performance areas:

    • The intern will support municipal construction projects in the Civil and Community Services Directorates.
    • Knowledge of construction management, ensuring accurate documentation, effective communication, and active participation in site activities to enhance capacity building within the municipality

    Attendant: Bricklaying (Piketberg)

    Requirements:

    • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the official languages in the Western Cape (Read, Write & Speak)
    • High level of responsibility
    • Ability to give attention to detail
    • Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime
    • Incumbent be physically fit and able bodied
    • Required to work in all weather conditions Performance
    • Must be prepared to enter confined areas such as manholes, inlets, pipes and culverts
    • Must perform duties in the whole area of the Municipality when required

    Job Purpose:

    • Performs general labouring activities associated with the masonry maintenance and repair work to roads, storm water and drainage systems using hand held tools (spade, pick-axe, wheelbarrow, rake, fork and broom) and compactors, vibrator roller and tar cutter to excavate defined areas, laying of materials and reinforcement products (concrete blocks), cleaning or clearing blockages and removing debris from drainage systems and sweeping sidewalks

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Undertakes general labouring tasks during road-works, storm-water drainage and road maintenance
    • Cleans and attends to storage and care of tools and equipment
    • Undertakes specific activities associated with the maintaining the cleanliness of streets and surroundings
    • Responsible for Health and Safety compliances with statutory regulations during tasks which include protocols and procedures in order to minimise any accidents and injuries and to maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all 
    • Responsible to take part in the Municipality’s Performance Management Development System
