    • The Freight Estimator will be responsible from receiving the request for an estimate from a client or colleague up to submission to the client.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • Tertiary qualification in the International Logistics field will be advantageous, or at least currently studying towards a qualification in this area
    • 5 years Freight Estimating experience essential

    Key Responsibilities    

    • Ensure timeous and accurate freight estimates to internal and external clients.
    • Ensure all appropriate rates / incoterms and rules are applied when producing a freight estimate.
    • Interpret request received on estimate request or mail.
    • Information is obtained regarding freight rates, clearing rates, transport rates, de-group rates etc.
    • Prepare estimate using Excel.
    • Submit for internal quality check based on value requirement.
    • Ensure client (internal / external) receive accurate quote timeously.
    • Record statistical information on an Estimate Register.
    • Contact client for feedback on estimate.

    Skills & Competencies    

    • Freight experience and terminology essential.
    • Knowledge of Incoterms essential.
    • Knowledge of Hazardous goods essential.
    • Must be MS Excel literate at an intermediate level.
    • Cargowise knowledge an advantage.
    • Must be highly numerate.

    Imports Client Controller (Ocean) - Durban

    Job Purpose    

    • Understand clients requirements and facilitate their requirements in ensuring OTIFNE (On time, in full no errors) for each of their Import shipments.  Building a trusting relationship and adding value to our clients consistently. Understanding shipping from cargo collection at origin up until final delivery to client, including local customs formalities. Minimise cost and maximise revenue for BIL.                                

    Qualifications & Experience    
    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Matric                                
    • Relevant tertiary qualification essential

    EXPERIANCE: 

    • 3-5 previous experience as a Import Client Controller (ocean) with a good working knowledge of all aspects of Seafreight Imports, including the Customs and related EDI processes.            
    • An excellent track record of effective communication skills                                

    Key Responsibilities    
    KEY RESPONSIBILITES 

    • Ensure close liaison with clients in that they are continually updated via telephonic or electronic feedback on the status of their clearances and delivery of their cargo.  All pertinent instructions and key issues to be noted on the file in our operating system.                    
    • Responsible for regular client meetings, visits and telephonic discussions to solicite information on clients business requirements, understanding client's potential problem areas, investigating competitor activities and networking and provide written feedback to management.        
    • Ensure close liaison and correspondence with Vessel Agents, groupage agents, TNPA, TPT, TFR, unpack depots, container parks and other third parties as and when necessary.            
    • Regular monitoring of the status of import shipments ( BIL tools) to ensure that there are no delays in the import clearance process - from time of receipt of documents to time of invoicing and delivery.   Where delays occur, ensure the necessary action is undertaken to resolve with applicable department or staff concerned and the reasons for the delays are noted on BIL operating system.             
    • To back up the Senior, Client Controllers and Assistant Controllers as required.            
    • Ensure all billing, reconciliation, debtors, financial queries and other import related queries are actioned as per KPI's.                                 
    • Ensure import and KPI's process are followed to limit BIL risk and impact to reputation.        
    • Vetting of Client documents and requesting for any outstanding or specific document/s that will be required for the smooth clearance of the shipment through the relevant authorities        
    • Ensure strict adherence to intergrated management system (IMS)                
    • Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure file management is closed off.         
    • Handling and following up on disputes until resolved.                         
    • Notify neccessarry stakeholders and process claims within time frames.                 
    • Zero tolerance of write off's                                
    • Log all incident reports using SmartSure tool.

    Head of Sales - Greenstone - Johannesburg

    • To lead and organise the National Sales team in the generation of new business across all industry verticals with a strong focus on achieving set targets.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Manage all communications in regards to your forwarding new business accounts, including effective and timely resolution of issues, problems or concerns with EMO/ Agent and BIL offices.      
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports that detail trade lane new Air & Ocean Forwarding business development & progress; analyse marketing conditions and sales projections.    
    • Ensure efficient feedback on new business Air & Ocean Forwarding sales leads received from Trade Lane and/or our international partners, updating of the global target accounts.

    Imports Assistant Client Controller (Ocean) - Durban

    Assistant Export Controller - Durban

    Job Purpose    

    • The purpose of this Job is to assist Export Controllers, Supervisors and Manager with all shipping related tasks in order to maintain OTIFNE - On time in full no errors for all shipments and tasks allocated. 

    Qualifications & Experience    
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Typing bill of lading, shipping instructions (on MS Word, MS Excel, and WEB)            
    • (E-mail  or submit online the above documents to the various shipping lines)            
    • Checking of Bills of Lading and Specifications and printing of these documents.

    • Assist the Client Controller with claims (Manifest correctors, cargo dues) and/or queries in relation to shipment files handled. 
    • Will be required to take on Adhoc shipments which will include adhering to Export shipment process requirements. (handling a shipment from start to finish)

    Key Responsibilities    
    Planning & Organising

    • Ensure that all clients are kept updated wrt to their deliveries with expected time of arrival, delays etc via email and telephonic discussion
    • Ensure that all drivers are contacted and kept updated wrt to their progress and delivery changes
    • Ensure that all relevant and correct documentation is handed to the driver prior to each upliftment
    • Ensure that the predeparture and debriefing of all drivers is adhered to
    • Ensure that all drivers hand in all relevant documentation pertaining to their respective deliveries
    • Ensure all drivers trip sheets, pods are scrutinised for any damages, deliveries not done etc
    • Respond to all telephone calls regarding breakdowns, accidents, delays etc.
    • Liaise with loading and offloading sites wrt to any delays that you may be faced with
    • Keep your superior updated at all times wrt to progress or delays wrt to any deliveries
    • Check availabilty of vessels and ensure cargo is uplifted within the specified time frame to avoid any storage/demurrage charges

    Administration

    • Scrutinise all delivery notes and report any damages, discrepancies etc to your superior
    • Ensure that all correct and relevant documentation that is required for invoicing purposes is handed in by the driver
    • Update all systems that is relevant to your department and submit to your superior timeously
    • Ensure that the correct document flow is adhered to

    Reporting/General

    • Ensure that clients are updated wrt to their deliveries timeously
    • Resolve queries in the most efficient manner
    • Ensure that all clients requirements are communicated to your subordinates and adhered to
    • Build and maintain relationships with all clients
    • Ensure all incidents, damages, losses and claims are reported immediately, correctly and in accordance with BPL’s policies and procedures
    • Maintain all housekeeping standards within the operation area
    • Adhere to all health, safety and quality procedures
