    Security Manager

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Security Manager. This opportunity exists within the Operations Support Department, based in Durban, reporting to the Operations Support Director. The candidate has to meet the following minimum criteria.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s degree in security management or a related field.
    • 5 years of experience in security management.
    • ISPS qualification is required.
    • Good understanding of SHEQ systems (OHSAS18001, ISO14001 & ISO9001) would be advantageous.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of Port Security management, preferably in the chemical/ petrochemical industry

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Main purpose of the Job

    • The incumbent in this position will direct BTT's security functions, including physical security and safety of employees, facilities, and assets. To build and cement relationships and network with the relevant authorities, i.e. Cutler, TNPA, etc.

    The successful candidate will engage in the following activities:

    • Develop and implement the BTT security strategy to ensure compliance with national and international security standards, i.e., ISPS codes etc.
    • Plan, direct, and coordinate security activities to safeguard BTT assets, customer products, employees, and visitors.
    • Develop, implement, and manage security procedures to protect personnel against harassment, threats, or violence in line with the code of ethics.
    • Develop or review security service level agreements (SLAs) between BTT and Bidvest Protea Coin, Intellisec, Marshal Security, EHK Advisory Services, etc.
    • Participate and play a role in PIMAD drills and Major Emergency exercises.
    • Develop and manage investigation processes, including the collection and preservation of video and notes of surveillance processes or investigative interviews.
    • Conduct security site visits at regions and ensure all non-conformances are corrected immediately.
    • Track and provide feedback on corrective and preventative action from all security-related audits.
    • Analyse and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvements.
    • Ensure Security Risk Assessments are completed and reviewed quarterly.
    • Manage and provide leadership to subordinate Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs).
    • Ensure that department and individual performance charters are loaded on Scientrix and LMS.
    • Develop and manage the security budget.
    • Attend stakeholder meetings to keep abreast of new technologies impacting security.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of ISPS Codes and the National Ports Act.
    • Attention to detail and strong observational abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Policy and legislation relating to Security Risks.

    Hose Inspector

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for a Hose Inspector to join the Durban Operations Team, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a daily basis and effective operations. The candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with Maths, Science and with proficiency in English
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the petrochemical industry
    • Code 10 drivers licence preferred 

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage the condition of flexible hoses and shipping equipment on sites for the safe use thereof
    • Keep up dated records of hose and equipment inspections of external audit requirements
    • Investigate and report on failed hoses and equipment’
    • Plan and co-ordinate hose and equipment inspection with sites and maintenance planner
    • Maintain tools for pressure testing, inspecting and identifying hoses and equipment and record keeping.
    • Inspect hoses and equipment and approve or reject faulty hoses and equipment
    • Replace faulty hoses and equipment as required with Operations Managers approval
    • Obtain a Works Order from the Maintenance Planner on which sites hoses, and equipment require inspection
    • Co-ordinate and plan with site, to make the hoses and equipment available and safe for inspection
    • Pressure Test and inspect hoses and equipment on site as per required hose and equipment specifications 
    • Confirm or reject hoses and requirement as 1) “Fit for use” or 2) “Not fit for use”
    • Update hose and equipment records and hand over to the Operations Administrator
    • Investigate and report on failed hoses and equipment in use with 48 hours of the incident
    • Destroy and discard of hoses and equipment not fit for use and record in records
    • Report failed hoses and equipment to Managers and inform relevant parties to replace the hoses
    • Fit identification tags on new hoses and equipment and confirm new hoses and equipment are fit for use
    •  Keep comprehensive and update record of all site hoses and equipment for auditing purposes.
    • Any other responsibilities that is in the interest of the Company as is legal and lawful

    SHE Coordinator

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • National Diploma in Safety Management or SAMTRAC
    • 3-5 years of administrative experience in the HSE field
    • Good knowledge of OHS Act 85 of 1993, environmental legislation, and ISO 14001/45001 standards
    • Advanced Excel with sound graph/ analytical experience
    • Advanced PowerPoint Presentation skill
    • Analytical report writing experience
    • Preferably a valid code B driver’s license

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Responsible for the Scheduling of all SHE meetings
    • Responsible for minute-taking of all SHE meetings, i.e. SHE Committee and any other meetings in the HSE Department
    • Ensure all actions stemming from the meetings are loaded on IsoMetrix and/or Scientrix
