    Artisan Auto Electrician

    Job Description:
    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Plan activities in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources as required.
    • Assist in ensuring that TMM auto electrical equipment and installations meet the required designs, installation, and maintenance standards.
    • Ensure that all assessments of potential hazards of the operation of equipment and installations are undertaken in accordance with procedures.
    • Maintenance and repairs of all TMM auto-electrical equipment in the underground, specifically with regards to the following: Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i), Long Hole Rigs (DL421, DL422i, DL432i & Rhino Machine), Cable Bolters (DS421, DS422i & DS412i), Roof Bolters (DS411), Maclean Bolter (946), LHD (LH410, LH517i & LH621i), Dump Trucks (TH430), TH540 & TH551i), Shotcrete (Normet) , Manitou and Agicars etc.
    • Ensure fixed, mobile and transportable TMM auto electrical equipment associated with hot work or live testing, installed or operated are suitably certified in line with operational standards.
    • Ensure that equipment is suitable for use in the underground mine.
    • Ensure that the maintenance and overhaul of TMM auto electrical equipment installed and/or operated or intended to be installed and/or operated is in accordance with relevant standards.
    • Align with planned maintenance, including the maintenance of relevant records for all auto electrical equipment and installations in the area of responsibility.
    • Adherence to policies and procedures.
    • Ensure effective communication to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays.
    • Upholding of safety, health and environmental standards to achieve ZERO HARM.
    • Training and development of subordinates.
    • This role is in the VUP Engineering department at a CL level reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with pure Mathematics and Physical Science
    • Relevant Trade Certificate Auto Electrician / Electrician

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Auto Electrician or 5 years combined experience as an Auto electrician and Electrician in an Underground Mining Environment.
    • TMM Mining equipment experience.
    • Sound knowledge in the maintenance, repairs and fault finding of the following equipment: Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i), Long Hole Rigs (DL421, DL422i, DL432i & Rhino Machine), Cable Bolters (DS421, DS422i & DS412i), Roof Bolters (DS411), Maclean Bolter (946), LHD (LH410, LH517i & LH621i), Dump Trucks (TH430), TH540 & TH551i), Shotcrete (Normet), Manitou and Agicars etc.
    • Sound knowledge and experience on the maintenance and repairs of PDS, PDI, Camera’s, lighting circuits of diesel machines & real time systems.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially with regards to auto-electrical problems in UG TMM mining and ancillary equipment.
    • Planning and control of maintenance schedules as per SAP PM.

    • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License
    • Computer literacy – MS Office Suite
    • Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per the role requirements

    General Engineering Supervisor (Red Area)

    Job Description:

    • The position of General Engineering Supervisor assist the engineer with general supervision of section engineering activities for mining, processing equipment and infrastructure in the Red Area Plant.
    • The Red Area Plant is an integral part of our diamond recovery therefore it is important to ensure equipment is reliable and maintained to the exceptional standards to support the business plan.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Supervises and assists with coordination of engineering activities safely, efficiently and cost effectively to meet short term production objectives.
    • Manages resources to deliver maintenance and operational targets.
    • Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Manages, controls and motivates team in area of responsibility.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
    • Contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives for engineering processes.
    • Ensure adherence to the Mine Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and legal requirements.
    • Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
    • Effectively communicate and manage required inputs and outputs between sections under his/her management and other sections within the production stream.
    • Perform technical investigations into equipment failures and accident damages
    • Plan and co-ordinate major shutdowns with internal and external clients to ensure the timeous allocation of resources.
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum N4 certificate - Millwright, Boilermaker, Electrical, Fitter or relevant trade qualification
    • Preferred: Recognised Diploma or Degree in relevant discipline
    • Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Supervisory (Foreman) experience in the mining environment
    • Thorough understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment principles and ability to implement effective controls to manage risks within the section
    • The ability to develop and implement processes that require a command of highly specialised technical and basic research skills across a broad discipline
    • Good understanding of Continuous Business Improvement principles and the ability to effectively implement them within several sections
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Sound knowledge of mining disciplines and machinery
    • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise
    • Good customer and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to function individually and as part of a team
    • Teamwork and networking skills
    • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal)

    GES Shafts & Surface Infrastructure

    Job Description:

    • As the General Engineering Supervisor, you need to oversee the maintenance and operations of equipment and systems according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications and to assist the Engineer with design and general supervision of engineering activities in support of the maintenance process.

    More of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensuring work is planned, scheduled, executed and monitored in accordance to the Engineering objectives
    • Analysing data for all underground fixed plant and area of responsibility, reporting and investigating barriers to effective quality performance, causes of delays and deviations and ensuring mitigating plans are prepared and implemented
    • Identifying and initiating system improvements
    • Ensuring budgets are met and cost is controlled
    • Stakeholder management, while supporting and implementing project optimisation
    • Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives by keeping abreast of developments and introducing change in work processes where appropriate (Cost reductions and cost avoidances).
    • Ensuring legal, safety, environmental and hygiene standards are complied with and maintained
    • This role is in the Engineering Department at Band 6 and reports to the Underground Fixed Plant Section Engineer: VUP

    Qualifications:
    Qualifications

    • Mechanical or Electrical University Degree/ National Diploma/ NHD (T4/S4) or B-Tech with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience on the maintenance of equipment required for underground mining. or
    • N3 Certificate, Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate with a minimum of 10 years’ experience on the maintenance of equipment required for underground mining; plus

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience as a Senior Foreman or GES or relevant
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience on Underground fixed plant (Winders and Shafts; BAC/Fridge Plant; Ventilation Fans; Ground and Water handling) related maintenance activities
    • Technical Knowledge in maintenance and management of Gyratory Crushers, Stacker Reclaimer, Dewatering Multistage Pumps, Slurry Pumps, and Conveyor belts systems
    • Contract management experience and working knowledge of repair and services contracts
    • Previous Experience on engineering governance in SAP system.

    • Successfully obtained a Medical Fitness certificate for underground
    • The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and a clear security clearance
