    Political Assistant (Personal Assistant) - Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (Fixed Term)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Delivering performance in the areas of secretarial, logistical, research and administrative support
    • Writing, under guidance, speeches, articles, policy and other forms of political communication
    • Engaging with members of the public at all levels with a professional and pleasant disposition
    • Successfully work with the Eastern Cape caucus to achieve the Party’s objectives

    Requirements

    Minimum requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in political science, legal, administration or local governance
    • Experience in a similar role, including political assistant, personal assistant, executive assistant or secretary
    • Experience in compiling reports, minute taking, drafting letters
    • Proficiency in at least one official language, in addition to English
    • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint

    • Problem solving

    Abilities: 

    • Analyse and interpret political developments
    • Use initiative and work well in high-pressure situations

    • Understanding of the Party’s policies
    • Understanding of current affairs and the national political landscape
    • Understand the legislature and its various mechanisms

    • Willingness to go the extra mile, which may include working long and irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays where necessary

    Constituency Coordinator: Kalahari - Northern Cape

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Logistically and administratively supporting Party public representatives in their efforts to grow and keep DA support, advance the DA brand, and meet statutory obligations.

    Requirements

    Minimum requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate or equivalent 
    • Tertiary qualification (advantageous)
    • Relevant experience which may include the following roles: field worker, community liaison, project coordinator, operations coordinator, field-related sales, field-related customer service or election/campaign-related role
    • Project management experience
    • Financial management experience
    • Proficiency in English and Afrikaans. Any additional languages are advantageous
    • Valid driver’s licence with access to a vehicle for daily business use
    • Computer literacy, particularly MS Office suite
    • Knowledge of, and/or residence in, the constituency (advantageous)
