    Power & Energy Transition Analyst

    About the Team  

    • The Power & Energy Transition Research team produces daily and quarterly written and data-centric analysis of company-, technology- and sector-level developments for a global audience of public and private sector clients. Client presentations and custom research projects also form part of the regular workload. 

    How You’ll Make an Impact:  

    • Take ownership of a suite of region-specific reports, datasets and 10-year forecasts. 
    • Identify and analyse key power market and renewable trends and articulate the risks and opportunities facing sector stakeholders up and down the value chain. 
    • Produce insightful and actionable research and contribute to ad hoc reports and special projects as you become a subject matter expert. 
    • Interact with and support our global sales team and with clients to communicate our industry views and drive engagement with our data. 
    • Support team leaders in the development of new research initiatives evolving with the industry 

    You May be a Good Fit if: 

    •  Degree with a focus on Renewables, Energy, Economics, Finance, International Relations or a related field. 
    • Demonstrable ability to solve problems using critical, rational and creative thinking. 
    • Strong writing and numeracy skills are essential; Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills also desirable 

    What Would Make You Stand Out:  

    • Existing knowledge of Energy Transition and topics such as, Energy Storage, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture & Storage, Power/Energy Markets, Renewables, Transmission Grids or Electricity Pricing. 
    • Ability to write clearly and concisely, while being able to convey key points effectively 
    • Ability to convey, clearly and concisely, key points through verbal and graphic skills 
    • Ability to work as part of a larger team and being willing to take on projects at short notice

    Analyst, Country Risk, Sub-Saharan Africa

    About the Team

    • The Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Country Risk team is a dynamic group of six analysts responsible for producing ten-year forecasts across all 49 markets in the region. Our work blends rigorous macro-political analysis with sharp regional insight. Alongside regular written commentary, we engage directly with diverse clients, offering tailored briefings and presentations on everything from long-term growth and fiscal trajectories to topical issues like foreign exchange shortages in Nigeria or security risks in Ethiopia’s gold mining regions.

    How You’ll Make an Impact: 

    You will:

    • Work as part of the Sub-Saharan Africa country risk team, providing regular economic, political risk and financial market analysis and forecasts for a portfolio of countries.
    • Write research notes on a daily basis, as well as contributing to monthly and quarterly analysis, producing both country-specific and thematic regional research including economic growth, fiscal & monetary policy, trade, debt dynamics, political risk, financial markets and demographics.
    • Work on maintaining and further developing proprietary data sets that add analytical value.
    • Work with sales and clients to represent the team and deliver key views and forecasts in a concise and articulate manner during client engagements as well as at industry events.

    You May be a Good Fit if:

    • You have a degree in economics or a closely related field.
    • A relevant background working as a macroeconomic/sovereign risk analyst required, with experience in analytical writing, data management, and forecasting. 

    What Would Make You Stand Out: 

    • Strong analytical and analytical writing ability, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Fluent spoken and written English, other languages beneficial.
    • Strong public speaker
    • Ability to work with and analyse large data sets and forecast across key macroeconomic indicators, particularly for emerging markets.
    • Experience of programming in R/Python and strong skills in quantitative analysis, including data manipulation, statistical modeling, and visualisation.

    Senior Associate, Sales Specialist, Pretoria (6 Months Contract)

    About the Team

    • The BMI Sales Specialist Team is responsible for fueling the growth of the BMI business through new client acquisition and expansion of existing BMI / Fitch Solutions client relationships. The Sales Specialist is responsible for prospecting, lead qualification, building relationships with prospective clients, managing a sales pipeline and converting prospects to clients to sell BMI & GeoQuant.

    How You’ll Make an Impact: 

    • Execute the end-to-end sales cycle for prospective clients, from prospecting and lead generation to advancing sales through to successful conversion
    • Prospect and prioritize potential clients within market fit parameters, develop relationships to understand their business challenges and engage on where BMI can add value in a differentiated way
    • Build and manage a new / expansion business pipeline that appropriately balances new opportunity creation and successful conversions – primarily across the African continent.
    • Develop and execute a quarterly territory plan that is centered around priorities and areas of focus to achieve quota
    • Demonstrate a strong grasp of BMI products, value proposition and competitive advantage, and leverage that knowledge in all client communications
    • Apply sales and negotiation skills to close profitable, healthy new business deals
    • Leverage cross-functional internal teams (including Client Services, Product Specialists, Analysts, Marketing) to develop the strategic plans to actively approach new potential customers and displace competitors.

    • Recent Graduate looking to make an impact in sales
    • 2 years' or above B2B sales experience, preferably in financial services or relevant industry
    • Fluency in English language with French speaking being advantageous
    • Highly motivated and results-driven with consistent history of achievement of quota(s)
    • Self-starter, who can establish and organize daily sales activities working fully independently

    What Would Make You Stand Out: 

    • Strong knowledge of Macro Economics, Country Risk, Political Risk & Industry Risk Research
    • Experience applying industry and product knowledge in written and verbal client communications
    • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
    • Experience with Salesforce.com as well as Microsoft Office
