    Lead Engineer - Fleet Management

    Job Description Summary

    As a core ITR engineering, you will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova - Steam Power based in South-Africa. The role of Generator Resident Engineer will require you to undertake all activities, on clients' sites, associated with the operation, maintenance, advising, stripping, overhaul, component replacement and reassembly of generator and associated auxiliary equipment.

    Your Role:

    The position is to fulfill the requirement as per the Genserv contract at the Medupi Power station. The responsibilities are:

    • Controlling the site activity including responsibility for safety, working to program and quality supervising
    • Issuing interim reports on findings and communicating engineering recommendations to the client and regular reporting on site progress
    • Producing method statements and risk assessments
    • Ensuring that proper recommendation on the operation and the maintenance of the generator system is communicated to the customer and providing the customer sufficient support.
    • Ensure the GE / client performance complies with the GE quality control contract and equipment / system specification.
    • Coordinates and assist in commissioning and / or operation.
    • Manage goals and competence. Control results and implement corrective action.
    • Compiles repair / rework scope of work and procedures, as required.
    • Compiles additional scope of work, as required.
    • Organize meetings as required for erection activities and information about work status.
    • Assure communication with GE home base.

    Basic Qualifications(requirements):

    • Candidates should have served a recognized engineering apprenticeship or level in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or B.Tech
    • Have over 7 years of generator product knowledge and experience
    • be computer literate and have experience of MS word and excel
    • be flexible and a team player.
    • be customer focused.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Fluency in English; German/French languages desirable

    Sourcing Expeditor

    Job Description Summary

    Sourcing Specialist - Order Fulfilment Specialist (Expeditor) is responsible to manage the supplier schedules, purchase orders and general reporting of supplier activities to ensure the scope of work is delivered safely, according to customers’ quality requirements, on time and within budget. Managing and reporting any risk associated with the purchase order that might affect GE projects and GE’s Customer.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Ensure Supplier Order Fulfilment (On Time Delivery, In Full-Delivery).
    • Ensure the orders are delivery with the right Quality on Budget. Manage and monitor suppliers’ manufacturing schedule and report progress updates to internal stakeholders.
    • Technical Procurement/Sourcing and Expediting. 
    • Support Suppliers’ product development.
    • Sourcing and Execution of projects to ensure availability of Maintenance spares and Parts.
    • Coordinate Engineering documentation required by the suppliers with the Engineering department. (Specs, Drawing, etc)
    • Finance alignment on cash milestone recognition.
    • Coordinate Commercial Supplier enquiries and support on technical enquiries between Supplier and the organization.
    • Participate in Technical adjudication and negotiation of contracts (Purchase Orders) provide inputs as required.
    • Supports the Quality team on Nonconformance events, technical /welding issues at Suppliers.
    • Utilises technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
    • Sourcing Specialist - Supplier Order Fulfilment will be required to travel to suppliers’ facilities occasionally to monitor and verify projects progress and support supplier with problem solving initiatives.
    • Not only limited to the above mentioned, People Leader can assign other souring related activities to support the business.

    Required Qualifications

    • This role requires experience in the Sourcing, Planning & Supplier Monitoring.
    • Knowledge level is comparable to a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
    • Technical/Engineering Diploma, Supply Chain Management Diploma or Logistics Diploma.
    • 3 to 6 years of experience in an Expediting role – Supply Chain /Sourcing.
    • Established strong project management skills.

    Services Specialist - Customer Order and Fulfillment

    Job Description Summary

    The Customer and Order Fulfilment Specialist manages parts from Inquiry to Remittance. Operationally lead the collaboration of a focused team of Steam, Generator, Boiler parts experts to provide wing to wing parts service for the Region (sales/CSL). The ITR Manager is the primary point of contact for the Region in ITO (Inquiry to Order) regarding parts quote management from inquiry to order including order conversion and OTR (Order to Remittance) issues relating to total Order Processing including cash collection activities. Meet day-to-day short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning to deliver parts on-time and compliant with specifications.

    Key Accountabilities/ Execution:

    • Accountable for wing-to-wing order and quote cycle time. Full ownership of all Region related quote and order KPI (on-time delivery and cycle time) about parts
    • Coordination with Global CoEs about quotes and orders. Order and quote prioritization to Global CoEs based on the inputs from Region
    • Engage region about open quotes/orders
    • Provide quote & order visibility to the region via using global Parts tracking tool
    • Participate in Mission Based Cross functional teams with a clear Customer focus lead by Sales & CSL
    • Leverage LTSA or initiate request to CoE and prepare full offer including T&C to customer; Create offer in PMx based on LTSA or inputs from CoE
    • Making contacts with customer and give regular update about quote and part deliveries
    • Fully support logistic and invoices process about comparing packing list vs custom invoice to understand gaps
    • Drive localization with Sourcing
    • Must strive to meet all Customer request dates, reduce processing cycles and keep backlog of orders and quotes to a minimum
    • Strong ITR focus: Wing-to-wing Quotation (ITO) Tracking by working with Global COEs and Wing-to-wing Order Execution (OTR) from receiving PO to invoicing by working with Global COEs
    • Risk mitigation between Global CoE and Region
    • Initiate process improvement (quality-price-lead time)

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • College or university degree in engineering or project management (or other relevant fields)
    • Fluency in English
    • Minimum 2-3 years experience in the energy industry or ITR process
    • Demonstrated track record and able to initiate problem solving techniques
    • Strong customer focus mind-set and project management skills

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Technical degree and familiarity with the Energy Industry
    • Integrated Management Systems knowledge
    • Prior experience in OTR or Parts business is preferred
    • LEAN Principles experience is preferred
    • Able to manage wing to wing projects in ITO and OTR
    • Excellent communication skills to communicate with regional executives
    • Self-motivated, and ability to handle multiple priorities
    • Ability to perform in a matrix organization
    • Self-starter, capable of working with minimum supervision, work out and apply new ways of resolution, responsive
    • Understanding business and logistic processes and priorities
