    Underwriter– Personal Lines

    Job Description

    • An insurance company is seeking a skilled Underwriter II to join its Personal Lines team. The role involves underwriting personal insurance products including new business, renewals, endorsements, and quotations, while ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and delivering exceptional service to clients.

    Responsibilities
    Underwriting Operations

    • Assess and process new personal insurance applications, policy renewals, and endorsements using the C360 system.
    • Prepare quotes for new business and provide input to the sales team on underwriting matters.
    • Ensure underwriting practices align with internal policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Monitor and manage the profitability of policies, including correcting unprofitable business and avoiding overexposures.
    • Handle renewal negotiations and prepare relevant documentation.
    • Conduct and follow up on underwriting surveys and their outcomes.
    • Review policies for accuracy before issuing to clients.

    Client Service & Communication

    • Calculates taxes payable by individuals, companies, and trusts.
    • Advises clients on tax-related issues such as VAT, Fringe benefits, and dividend tax.
    • Liaises with client executives throughout the audit engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Procurement

    Requirements

    • Strong ERP system knowledge (SAP, Syspro, Odoo, etc.).
    • Experience in working with technical drawings/specifications is a plus.

    Requirements:

    • N3 or Grade 12 qualification.
    • Recognised trade qualification as an artisan (Section 13B, 26D, or Red Seal Certificate in Electrical).
    • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineering Foreman would be an advantage.
    • Valid certificate of physical fitness.
    • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at various levels.
    • Computer literate, with working knowledge of Excel, Word, and email.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with AC and DC winders.

    • MV competent, with at least 5 years of experience in tasks such as cable phasing, switching operations, following switching procedures, MV reticulation, cable jointing, and fault diagnosis related to power failures or trip-outs.
