    Senior UHT Technician

    Job Description

    Required Skills    

    • Millwright Trade test Certificate or multiskilled Fitter or Electrician, Diploma/Associated will be beneficial.

    • Trade tested and qualified as a millwright or Electrician is essential.

    Job Description    

    • Join Lactalis at our PE Plant in the Engineering department with the main responsibilities being to manage multiple projects and lead contractors and subcontractor teams.
    • Successful candidates need to have at least 10 years’ experience in Production and/or projects in FMCG environment (Dairy).
    • Must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of planned and execution of projects, compiling and managed budget.

    Required Skills    

    • Tertiary technical qualification and Business Qualification, preferably in a mechanical field.

    Lab Coordinator

    Job Description    

    • Join Lactalis SA at our Ladysmith Plant as a Production Coordinator.  
    • The main responsibilities of a Lab Coordinator is to ensure to maintain accurate records of test results in the laboratory.
    • Position also responsible for ensuring that calibrations are done as per schedule as well as to conduct metrology checks.
    • Generate reports and give daily reporting to Quality Manager and production with regards to results.
    • Running Lab as efficient as possible.

    Required Skills    

    • BSc Food science or equivalent qualification
    • At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory position

    • Ensure that laboratory team uses the pH of the distilled water before use in the preparation of culture media.
    • Ensure that laboratory team captures of final product results on QMS and spread sheet.
    • Maintain sufficient but not excess stock of laboratory consumables.
    • Ensure that laboratory team prepares and taking of surface swabs for micro testing.
    • Operating of clean trace luminometer to verify cleaning practices.
    • Safety, GMP and food safety audits.
    • Ensure that laboratory team daily hygiene and pathogen program sampling.
    • Work according to and promote Food safety and Continues Improvement.

    • Make sure that the batch information on petri dish is correct.
    • Check foodscan and Ph meter are calibrated and signed off that controls are completed.
    • Partake in SGA’s and Root Cause Analysis to solve and prevent customer complaints.
    • Ensure all action plans and trackers are kept up to date
    • Have to make sure that equipment used in production is clean and sanitize to prevent microbial contamination
    • Ensure Cleaning and Sanitizing are done according to Master Cleaning schedule and all policies and procedures are adhered to.

    Safety:

    • Safety inspection to be done with safety representative.
    • Ensure HIRA (Hazard identification and Risk Assessments) are conducted timeously and kept up to date
    • Report all dangerous situations and generate job cards.
    • Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times and all policies and procedures adhered to.
    • Ensure Permit to works are issued and all the necessary risk assessments completed for all hazardous work
    • Ensure all staff are trained and familiar with Safety policies and procedures regarding all tasks performed.
    • Test all safety mechanisms on the equipment.
    • Report all near misses and incidents.
    • Ensure all safety standards are in place
