Job Purpose
To design, prototype, and build next-generation analytic engines and services by applying strong expertise in matching learning , data mining and information retrieval .
Job Responsibilities
Develop statistical models and algorithms through the use of libraries and abstractions
Conducts explority data analysis
Create value out of enterprise wide data
Provide insights to BI and BA to further exploit and present their models.
Apply advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence in order to derive business value.
Conduct data discovery for inclusion in models.
Keep abreast with latest tools and techniques.
Focus on spesific date poibnt within the data process life cycle.
Access and clean data and validate dataquality.
Indentify addiiotnal data sources.
Collaborates with model developers to implement and deploy scalable solutions.
Implement and maintain complex models and algorithms that drive innovation throughout the organization.
Ensure improvement of on-time performance and network planning,
Conduct self development through researching best practices, conducting experiments, and collaborating with industry leaders.
Work with large data sets, simulation/ optimization and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Arena, etc.)
Monitor and maintain models in production and re -train if necessary.
Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values.
Stay abreast of developments in field of expertise.
Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities.
Contribute to the Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).
Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy.
Seek opportunities to improve business processes, models and systems though agile thinking.
Minimum Experience Level
Degree in computer science, statistics, or operations research or related technical discipline.
0-3 years’ experience in a statistical and/or data science role
Cursory knowledge of machine learning, statistics, optimization or related field
Experience with R, Python, Matlab is required, programming in C, C++, Java
Experience working with large data sets, simulation/ optimization and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Arena, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong desire to work in cross functional teams
Attitude to thrive in a fun, agile start-up like environment.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification

Job Purpose
Accurate assessment, investigation and processing of long term insurance claims.
These claims will include death, disability and critical illness claims.
Processing claims and assessing payment of benefits in accordance with the policy terms and conditions
Job Responsibilities

Meet client needs by ensuring claims are processed according to service level agreement and insurance policy
Monitor customer delivery and escalate exceptions to management.
Ensure Service Level Agreements are met and exceeded.
Identify risks to the company and escalate accordingly.
Monitor claims received to ensure that duplication does not occur resulting in financial loss to the company.
Comply with Service Level Agreement or Claims Protocol by administering and facilitating the claims process.
Reduce risk to Nedbank Group by monitoring; identifying and reporting trends in claims
Drive and support effective teamwork within the department.
Engage in appropriate training interventions to promote own professional development.
Ensure to demonstrate the company's values on a daily basis.
Adhere to organisational best practice and legislative requirements.
Ensure effective claims management service delivery and support.
Perform an efficient and accurate administrative function.
Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes; systems and policies and support implementation of new processes; policies and systems.
Initiate and process claims to finalisation by ensuring compliance to insurance policy.
Comply with Service Level Agreements by adhering to self-imposed standards and timeframes.
Minimise risk by complying with all Nedbank policies and procedures.
Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impacts on role by reading the relevant newsletters; websites and attending sessions.
Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers
Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed; experience practiced and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
Ensure information is provided correctly to stakeholders by maintaining and sharing knowledge
Minimum Experience Level
3 – 5 years’ experience in a Claims environment
Knowledge of Life Insurance advantageous
Knowledge of insurance and industry legislation advantageous
