    Duty Manager

    Requirements

    • National Diploma in Hotel Management, Tourism or Hospitality Management
    • Bachelor’s Degree will be an added advantage
    • Two (2) years’ operational experience in housekeeping or front office
    • Four (4) years’ experience in a supervisory or management position of a rest camp, 3 -star lodge or hotel operation.
    • Computer literacy, MS Word, Excel and Power Point
    • Code 8 valid driver’s licence (essential)
    • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Reservations & Front Office Systems
    • A sound understanding of Eco-tourism, Sustainable Tourism, Customer Relations Management, Tourism & Service industry and Housekeeping
    • Good knowledge and understanding of the Tourism Industry and related legislations
    • The following soft skills are also highly important, namely, communication (verbal and written), customer service, financial management, conflict management, diversity management, leadership skills, project management and interpersonal skills

    Responsibilities

    • Supervision of day-to-day activities in various tourism outlets
    • Sorting out of all operational problems/challenges in tourism outlets
    • Managing all Front Office, Housekeeping, and activities staff, to ensure that the courteous and efficient welcoming and departure procedure for guests are carried out.
    • Effective customer service by anticipating, meeting and exceeding the guests’ expectations utilizing the CRM system.
    • Ensure that Tourism Property Management System and Front Offices processes align with operational and procedural policies.
    • Responsible for the Front Office and Access Control administration daily in accordance with laid down procedures. Including financial management, asset management and inventory control SOP’s
    • Monitoring income and expenditure and manage budget efficiently.
    • Stock taking / control and ordering through co-ordination by policy, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Ensuring effective maintenance of tourism infrastructure, gardens and grounds to the highest standards.
    • Monthly stock takes and inventory counts done as per SANParks SOP’s.
    • Ensure compliance and adherence to OHS standards and regulations. Ensure the security, health and safety of guests and staff.
    • Supervision and development of staff that includes the planning of work schedules, evaluation of work and determining of training requirements.
    • Assist with the development of new tourism products and the marketing of the park and its facilities.
    • To ensure that the vehicle under their control is managed according to policy, including log sheet and administration of this.
    • Be on-call outside normal working hours to take charge of any emerging crisis affecting visitors and staff.
    • Responsible for HR related matters including administration of attendance registers.
    • Compliance to all SANParks SCM financial SOP’s.
    • To act in the absence of a Hospitality Services Manager when delegated.

    Field Ranger Sergeant

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Certificate (NQF level 6)/ National Diploma in Conservation or related fields
    • 2-5 years in field supervision of field rangers in a dangerous game area and previous practical experience in natural resource management
    • EMI Grade 5
    • Field Ranger Basic Training
    • Code 8 driver’s licence
    • Computer literacy (MS Office, especially MS Word, Excel and Power point)
    • A firearm competency certificate
    • Firearm competency certificate for self-loading rifle. (NB: valid SAPS Competency Certificate; Original Training Competency Certificate for Business Unit Standards; PFTC Statement of results indicating the unit standards for Law and Business Purpose Unit Standards)
    • Sound communication and interpersonal skills
    • The willingness to be based at an outpost throughout the park
    • A healthy person with a high level of general fitness and mental alertness is required in this position
    • Must be physically fit.
    • Must be willing to undergo a medical exam

    Added Advantage:

    • A valid code C1 driver’s license with a PDP will serve as an added advantage
    • An Advanced Field Ranger training qualification
    • EMI Grade 2 certification will be an added advantage

    Responsibilities

    • To assist the Senior Section Ranger with all management related aspects to deliver on the biodiversity, area integrity and cultural heritage mandate.
    • To plan, implement, assess, and evaluate activities (patrols, firefighting, deployments, and census).
    • To assist in the daily control of the financial management of the section.
    • To assist with the management of assets control within the section.
    • To assist in maintaining purposeful relationships with key Stakeholders.
    • To ensure the enforcement of good corporate governance and pro-active risk management.
    • To supervise the human capital of the section (training, mentoring and coaching).

    Field Guide

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • THETA Nature Site Guide (Dangerous Game Area) TGD/NSGDGM/4/0037 NGF level 2 certificate (must include View Potentially Dangerous Game Unit Standards)
    • Valid First Aid Certificate, preferably Level 1 or Level 2
    • Valid DEAT Registration card (Site Guide: KNP & surrounding areas)
    • Valid C1 Driver License (Code 10)
    • Valid Professional Driving Permit
    • SASSETA Unit Standards: 123519, 119651 & 117705 certification.
    • SAPS (South African Police Service) Firearm Competency certificate or proof of application as issued by the SAPS.
    • 1 year of conservation/guided activities-related experience.

    Responsibilities

    • To conduct basic and intermediate guided activities in the gate/camp
    • In the absence of the Snr. Field Guide will plan and organise camp/gate based guided activities for the smooth operations.
    • Conduct administration of the guiding activities at the camp.
    • Market guided activities with the intention to improve revenue at the camp/gate.
    • Present environmental interpretation to create awareness and a sustainable environmental culture.

    Requirements

    • Be in possession of a National Diploma in Accounting or a related field.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in the development, consolidation, and coordination of annual budgets for the head office and all national parks.
    • Monitor and track budget allocations per division, ensuring adherence to the approved budget.
    • Provide financial guidance to divisional/departmental managers on budget preparation and financial forecasting.
    • Conduct financial analysis to assess budget performance, identify trends, and highlight potential risks.
    • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.

    • Oversee and track expenditure across all divisions, ensuring it aligns with the approved budget.
    • Identify areas of over-expenditure or under-utilisation and recommend corrective actions.

    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue optimisation, and financial efficiencies.
    • Drafting of policies, guidelines and SOPs.
    • Enhance financial control mechanisms for operational expenses.
    • Implement and improve financial reporting systems for real-time budget tracking across all of SANParks.
    • Ensure compliance with SANParks’ financial policies, National Treasury regulations, and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
    • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial data and explanations.
