    Mission Support Supervisor - South Africa

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this role is to provide multi-function service in support with the Church’s mission to help all of God's children come to Jesus Christ through learning about His gospel, making and keeping promises with God, and practicing Christlike love and service. This position will be based in South Africa East London Mission.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinates directly with the mission president to ensure missionary facility needs are being met.
    • Negotiate apartment leases and renewals. 
    • Fields requests, assigns work to vendors as needed, and ensures work meets established specifications. 
    • Performs bi‑annual formal maintenance inspections of missionary apartments. 
    • Manages any mission drivers or home attendants in the mission. 
    • Scopes building renovation projects, as needed. 
    • Anticipates upcoming mission needs. 
    • Leads moderately complex projects. 
    • May complete similar work of direct reports. 
    • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Must hold a current / valid temple recommend and/or be worthy to hold one.
    • A recognized Bachelors degree or National Diploma and directly related experience, and applicable industry-recognized certifications.
    • At least five years of any combination of equivalent years of related experience, higher-education, or an industry-recognized certification.
    • Former leadership experience in a work setting.

    Custodian

    Job Description

    • This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can work, worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances.  Each Church facility that is built and/or maintained should 1) Provide a spiritual setting for members to worship, and  2) Present an image of reverence and dignity in the community. 
    • This position performs journey level custodial work.

    Responsibilities

    • Requires understanding of custodial procedures, supplies, and equipment. 
    • Ability to operate assigned equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, etc. 
    • Able to lift up to 25kg, push carts of loaded material, bend, crawl, and/or reach. 
    • Understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety.
    • Must be capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing, and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed. 
    • Must complete safety and equipment usage training.

    Qualifications

    • Must be in possession of a valid Temple Recommend. 
    • Must have a high school qualification / Matric/ or equivalent. 
    • A minimum of 3 years’ related experience required. 
    • Requires understanding of custodial procedures, supplies, and equipment. 
    • Ability to operate assigned equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, etc. 
    • Ability to work shifts. 
    • Possession of a current health and safety certificate is an added advantage. 
    • Must be able to communicate effectively both in written and verbal form.

    Temple Ordinance Clerk

    Job Description

    • This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. This position follows specific instructions and performs clerical work using established routines. Applies limited analysis and problem solving in performing job duties.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide routine clerical and administrative support to the team under direct supervision.
    • Perform basic tasks such as photocopying, document preparation, and distribution of mail.
    •  Assist with simple calculations and basic data entry.
    • Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation in line with standard procedures.

    Qualifications

    Humanitarian Services Program Specialist

    Job Description

    •  This position provides support to a specific program within Welfare Services.  This support may include project planning, technical expertise in conceptualizing and producing audio-visual, written and other materials for Church-wide distribution and within the Welfare Department.  Facilitates training and consulting with ecclesiastical leaders.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the implementation of humanitarian projects in assigned countries/provinces in alignment with the 5-year area humanitarian plan and global Church priorities.
    • Assist in coordinating with internal departments and external partners (e.g., NGOs, local officials) to support project logistics and execution.
    • Contribute to project documentation, data collection, and reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.
    • Provide operational support in budgeting, procurement, and compliance under the guidance of Area Humanitarian Manager.
    • Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities to assess project outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Utilize Church systems and tools for project tracking, communication, and reporting.
    • Maintain awareness of humanitarian trends and best practices relevant to assigned responsibilities.
    • Collaborate with other specialists to support member-focused humanitarian efforts and sector-specific initiatives.
    • Address moderately complex problems using established procedures and guidelines. Apply analytical skills to evaluate options and recommend solutions, escalating more complex issues that require broader judgment or cross-functional input.
    • Receive direction on priorities and guidance on complex issues, while independently managing routine tasks and contributing to team objectives.
    • Supervise and train humanitarian missionaries in carrying out humanitarian efforts in the area.
    • Percentages may vary based on area / region need:
    • 50% - Manage the humanitarian project life cycle for specific country/province efforts and support the implementation of the 5-year area humanitarian plan and applicable global priorities.
    • 30% - Identify and maintain relationships with internal Church divisions, external NGOs, organizations, and government officials to accomplish the 5-year area humanitarian plan in assigned countries/provinces.
    • 15% - Report, evaluate, and analyze area humanitarian initiatives, programs, and activities to area/HQ leadership, as assigned.
    • 5% - Manage the application of technology, communications, and systems and other work as applicable.

    Qualifications

    • Must be in possession of a Current Temple Recommend and/or be certified by their priesthood leaders to be worthy to hold a temple recommend.
    • A relevant bachelor’s Degree or a combination of at least 8 years of related experience and progress towards completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree.
    • Strong understanding of the principles and guidelines of welfare and self-reliance services and humanitarian standards and the ability to apply them to the 5-year humanitarian plan and address and resolve complicated humanitarian challenges.
    • Intuitive ability to establish relationships of trust with mid-level and some senior Church, organization, and community leaders and represent the Welfare and Self-Reliance Department with professionalism and integrity.
    • Excellent problem-solving, listening, change management, and negotiation skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills and English language proficiency.
    • Ability to learn systems and processes quickly and be proficient using personal computers to utilize databases, spreadsheets, word processing, internet, text, and e-mail communications.
    • Must have excellent project management and report writing skills.
    • Demonstrated experience training employees, volunteers, and other staff on-site and remotely, individually or in groups.
    • Must be able to work collaboratively and travel up to 40% of the time.

    Area HR Strategic Partner

    Job Description

    • The Human Resources Department accomplishes the Church’s religious mission by partnering with Church departments to enable a qualified and engaged workforce to labor diligently in the Lord’s vineyard, hastening the work of salvation and exaltation. The purpose of this role is to support strategic HR and talent functions in an area. Employees at this level work under minimal supervision, have comprehensive working knowledge, and handle complex issues and problems.  This role reports to Area HR Manager with frequent partnership with workforce and area leaders, area HR team, and headquarters COEs.

    Responsibilities

    • Accountable to deliver the following Strategic HR talent activities to the dedicated Area.
    • Consult regarding employee development tools such as stretch assignments, developments assignments.
    • Lead Area talent efforts and develop Talent Development Strategy.
    • Lead succession planning efforts and talent councils.
    • Partner with leaders to leverage workforce analytics and guide strategic workforce planning decisions that strengthen organizational capability and performance.
    • Lead and implement organizational change initiatives.
    • Help Managers build high-performing teams and healthy workforce culture.
    • Consult on and support organizational design efforts. 
    • Assess organizational performance, operating models, structures, workflows, and team effectiveness.
    • Conduct organizational assessments, surveys, focus groups, and stakeholder interviews.
    • Align organizational design and people practices with business strategy.
    • Translate strategic priorities into workforce and operating initiatives.
    • Help managers design or redesign structures, reporting lines, and spans of control. 
    • Advise senior leaders.

    Qualifications
    Must be in possession of a Current Temple Recommend or be certified by their priesthood leader to be worthy to hold a temple recommend.
    Required:

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree coupled with a minimum of 6 years progressive professional experience. 
    • Deep strategic and HR experience with the ability to align people strategies to organizational priorities and business outcomes.
    • Strong knowledge of HR best practices across core people functions, including talent management, workforce planning, organizational development, and change management.
    • Demonstrated experience partnering with leaders to support workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and data-informed decision-making.
    • Strong consulting, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across multiple levels of leadership.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive organizational matters with discretion.
