    Operator Packing/Bin Crew

     

    Responsible for managing departmental safety, environmental controls, development of production employees, quality control, protection of equipment, and departmental cost controls and Bin Cleaning
    Monitor the machine to pack products, set-up and monitor the machines, ensure quality, safety and efficiency.

    • Co-ordinate finished product bin availability, and bin cleaning.
    • Ensuring that mechanical hoists and block and tackle are operated as per the certified and design capacity and report any deviations.
    • Execute daily cleaning plan by climbing into or lowering oneself into a bin on scaffolding or bucket/ bucket seat, using block and tackle or mechanical hoist.
    • Scrapes, scours and brushes bin walls and hoppers using hand scrapers and brushes.
    • Fumigates the interior of bins with insecticides, rodent deterrents or poisons, using a spray gun, and defined bin cleaning tools.
    • Physically locks out bins under fumigation.
    • Complete various reports based on daily activities.
    • Completion of relevant operational documents/records.
    • Adhere to Fumigation standards through cleaning of bins and other equipment as per standard.
    • Follow relevant SOP's and Quality control and quality assurance results responded to if necessary.
    • Report Non-conformance where required.
    • Adhere to key KPIs.
    • Apply good manufacturing principles in the relevant work area.
    • Utilize allocated cleaning materials in maintaining the high standard within the relevant work area.
    • Ensure set hygiene standards are adhere to all times.
    • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
    • Participate effectively in the InfoCom sessions
    • Participate in weekly and monthly stock counts and investigate variances and take corrective measures to prevent re-occurrence.

    Workplace Experience Student: Quality (Pietermaritzburg)

    Carrying out accurate testing in the laboratory using specialised equipment, correctly handling and treating samples, accurately recording results and data, monitor and maintain compliance with legislation, maintain the highest standard of food safety for products.

    • Conduct daily analyses on control samples to evaluated equipment accuracy

    Process Optimisation Engineer (Isando)

    • You are responsible for applying technical expertise to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing unit in order to maintain and improve operating efficiencies, reduce cost and improve sustainability. You will assist in the design of processes for new and existing products. You will implement projects to align with engineering strategies, standards and frameworks. You will optimise operating systems to enable safe, efficient and effective operation of facilities and infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. You will support MECP through the Focused Improvement Pillar. You will be based in a manufacturing unit reporting into a Plant/Manufacturing Manager with a dotted line to the Process Engineer.
    • Perform data analysis, root-cause analysis and identify and implement process improvements to support issue resolution and optimizing production processes to eliminate losses, improve quality, capacity, throughput and conversion cost.
    • Conducting process capability studies to establish optimal product rationalization on production lines and provide input to the production planning team
    • Develop and review heat and material balances
    • Become an SME - understand the manufacturing technology in the category and work with technology, maintenance and manufacturing teams to resolve issues relating to product quality, process capability and efficiency challenges
    • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing & conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and material; consulting equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.

    Group Quality & Food Safety Specialist: Regulatory, Audits & Compliance

    • The role of Group Quality & Food Safety Specialist is responsible for the development and deployment of the Quality & Food Safety Management System of the organization and to ensure compliance to all organizational, legislative, regulatory and customer requirements.
    • Works in conjunction with relevant Group, Category and Site functions and any other departments that have an impact on the organisation’s quality and food safety management system. Liaises with external entities in the pursuit of the Quality & Food Safety agenda.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Develop, revise, deploy and maintain Tiger Brands’ quality and food safety management system, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
    • Interface with and provide technical support to manufacturing units, relevant functions and teams across the company to ensure that organizational, certification, legislative, regulatory, customer quality and food safety requirements are met.
    • Lead employee training sessions on legal and regulatory requirements related to Quality and Food Safety.
    • Monitor regulatory compliance and conduct horizon scanning, reporting and facilitating interventions to manage risks.
    • Maintain current knowledge base of existing, new and emerging regulations, standards, or guidance documents, including any changes or developments. Communicate and provide expert advise and interpretive guidance to Group, Category and Site functions.
    • Provide and facilitate deep expertise, training and capability development through internal and external stakeholders and service providers.
    • Drive the overalll implementation of the Tiger Brands group quality standards at the manufacturing sites.
    • Lead and conduct internal audits and technical reviews of the Tiger Brands manufacturing units, 3PMs and suppliers to ensure that quality and food safety requirements are complied with.
    • Support risk assessments for the manufacturing sites and define mitigation actions.
    • Liaise with certification bodies regarding the external certification program of Tiger Brands manufacturing factories to Food Safety standards (FSSC22000 / BRC).
    • Support the Group Q& FS Manager / Director in preparing for Quality and Food Safety management review meetings at defined intervals.
    • Report on the Quality & Food Safety KPIs  and performance across the organisation.
    • Support other functions to implement proper management of change for innovation, renovation, cost reduction or any other projects that have an impact on quality and food safety.
