RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring that all consignments are delivered / collected within specific time frame.
• Assisting with investigating and resolving queries / problems through waybill and discrepancy report as and when required. 
• Collecting and sorting of waybills according to route requirements.
• Checking cargo in terms of damages, shortages, type and verifying waybills against cargo stickers.
• Creating scanning numbers for delivery and collection lists.
• Scanning of cargo in preparation for loading onto vehicles for delivery.
• Supervising of cargo loading, handling and packing into vehicle ensuring safety compliances are adhered to at all times.
• Liaising with clients as and when required / indicated.
• Conducting bay checks. Investigating non-delivery of cargo and reporting reasons for non-compliance to relevant Supervisor.
• Completing daily bay schedules and submissions.
• Monitoring daily / ad-hoc collections and providing collection instructions (by radio / cell phone) to Drivers and Assistants.
• Responding to delivery / collection clears and resolving queries / problems as indicated.
• Liaising with clients as and when required regarding delivery and collection information, data and instructions.
• Monitoring vehicle activity by monitoring the satellite-tracking system.
• Directing parcel sorting into destination area / location.
• Verifying waybill against parcel and parcel stickers.
• Scanning parcels onto Freightware system by waybills, submitting scanned waybills to data capturers for updating onto system.
• Checking the scanning of the cargo against what reflects on the system.
• Recording of cheques received into the Zone files and submitting to Data Capturers for updating of the system.
• Verifying documentation in terms of signatures, waybill no’s.
• Issuing instructions to Drivers and Assistants, advising of any deviations to original route immediately.
• Providing on the job training to team members as and when required.
• Providing names of team members who require formal training to Supervisor.
• Motivating team members. Where applicable conducting counseling sessions.   

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12.
• Code 10 Drivers License.
• 2-3 years experience within Freight/ transport industry.
• Basic understanding of Freightware or a similar Freight management system.
• Understanding of freight packaging requirements.
• Basic technical understanding of motor vehicles and general traffic ordinances.
• Computer operations.

The position of a Closed Distribution Manager has become available at Triton Express in Midrand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managing operational staff by:

• Recruiting, selecting, orientating and training staff
• Maintaining a safe and secure working environment
• Ensuring legislative compliance in terms of Basic Conditions of Employment, Labour Relations, Employment Equity, Skills Development and safety, welfare and health
• Communicating job expectations and managing performance
• Coaching, counseling, disciplining and handling grievances
• Administering staff matters includes preparing and authorizing overtime schedules, preparing staff leave schedules, absenteeism and other HR Management / document requirements

Maintaining operations service and quality standards by:

• Monitoring freight departures, collections, deliveries and arrivals
• Ensuring timeous departure of all route vehicles
• Verifying freight handling and the application of collection and dispatch procedures
• Verifying data capturing procedures and processes
• Taking corrective action in terms of problems identified
• Monitoring and ensuring: on time delivery, actioning missed collections, data capturing errors are identified and corrected, productivity levels (collections, deliveries) by route / driver / collections clerk are maximized, effective POD capturing
• Planning routes and monitoring kilometres of route vehicles
• Preparing required operational reports in Excel
• Administering / monitoring fuel consumption, vehicle service and mileage records, traffic violation fines, cargo and accident claims, freight discrepancies, etc.
• Handling customer queries / requirements by investigating, proposing solutions and taking corrective action
• Maintaining operational assets, including scanners, and ensuring vehicles are properly maintained
• Checking vehicle presentation, analyzing vehicle abuse and driver behavior & taking corrective action
• Ensuring warehouse housekeeping is maintained
• Reviewing operations performance via Freightware and management reports in terms of damages, claims, productivity, PODS processed, load times, customer complaints, delivery problems, special requirements etc.
• Ensuring compliance with all HR policies, practices and administrative procedures
• Advising warehouse staff of loading instructions
• Sorting waybills into delivery routes
• Monitoring correct handling of cargo
• Constant monitoring of vehicle loading and floor activity as and when required
• Administering and recording retention of operational documentation
• Ensuring that all operational information is communicated efficiently

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification

• Grade 12 Matric certificate
• Preferred B.Com Degree or Diploma in Logistics or Transport

Experience

• 3/5 Years transport or freight operational experience.
• 3 Years  experience in supervisory capacity

Knowledge

• Knowledge of road transportation in SA
• Basic knowledge on Managerial / people management principles
• Basic understanding of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Legislation (BCOE Act)
• In depth understanding of freight operational processes Geographic understanding of area of operation and a detailed understanding of Transport ordinances and loading requirements
• In depth understanding of freight processes, including Freightware and similar management systems
