    Driver - Richards Bay

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Good organizational, planning and time management skills
    • Good driving record with no traffic violations
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • High attention to detail
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Code 10 Driver’s Licence with PDP is advantageous
    • 1 years’ experience as a delivery/corporate driver

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Transport employees safely to and from site areas and/or to other destinations as instructed.
    • Collect and distribute rations, consumables and PPE to the sites as instructed or indicated by the driving schedule.
    • Collect and deliver documentation, requisitions, and orders.
    • Collection of lunch orders for training, audits, customer visits, and meetings.
    • Ensure the safekeeping of all documents and keys at the end of each shift.
    • Manage refuelling, washing and cleaning of the BTT vehicles as required and ensure that the vehicles are well maintained.
    • Assist with the packing, sorting and transporting of boxes when required.
    • Report any accident, incident and near miss on the BTT vehicles to the Operations Administrator immediately.
    • Ensure that the vehicles are driven with care and are not mishandled or abused.
    • Ensure weekly inspections are conducted on all BTT Richards Bay vehicles.
    • Assist with Operations related issues when required.

    Traffic Marshal - Richards Bay

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Good organizational, planning and time management skills
    • Good driving record with no traffic violations
    • Sound knowledge of traffic regulations
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • High attention to detail 

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Code 10 drivers’ licence with PDP is advantageous
    • Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Flagman/Corporate driver

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Drive the BTT vehicles carefully and safely ensuring that the BTT brand is always well portrayed.
    • Communicate with drivers about lane changes, temporary traffic patterns, and adjustments.
    • Regulate traffic speed in work zones, ensuring drivers adhere to posted limits.
    • Inspect the pathway for any infrastructure damage and reporting it.
    • Complete the Vehicle Log Sheet daily and record times and kilometres travelled.
    • Ensure the safekeeping of all documents and keys at the end of each shift.
    • Manage washing/cleaning of the BTT vehicles as required and ensure that the vehicles are well maintained.
    • Report any accident, incident and near miss on the BTT vehicles.
    • Ensure that the vehicles are driven with care and are not mishandled or abused.
    • Ensure weekly inspections are conducted on all BTT vehicles and provide a report thereof.
    • Transport employees safely to and from site areas and/or to other destinations as instructed.
    • Collect and distribute consumables and other items to the sites as required.
    • Assist with directing traffic flow during emergencies.

    Safety Watch Charge Hand - Richards Bay

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Ability to fluently communicate in English
    • Must be computer literate in MS Office
    • Knowledge of SHEQ systems (ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001)
    • Knowledge and application of firefighting practices, methods and procedures
    • Knowledge of the storage, handling and the usage of hazardous materials fire prevention practices

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • 2 years’ experience within a SHEQ/ Safety Watch or similar role
    • 2 years’ experience within a Chemical storage/manufacturing operations environment
    • SAMTRAC or Introduction to SAMTRAC will be advantageous.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the efficient daily allocation of Safety Watchers to projects.
    • Update the resource allocation spread sheets to accurately reflect activities and ensure that these are communicated to all internal stakeholders.
    • Communicate all IMS documents to the Safety Watchers.
    • Capture standing time and costings for service providers and Safety Watchers.
    • Complete the Safety Watch attendance registers.
    • Ensure that all the relevant inspection checks are carried out by the Safety Watchers.
    • Conduct toolbox talks and ensure these are signed off and filed for safekeeping.
    • Ensure that the gas monitoring equipment is within the service and calibration date.
    • Inspect Safety Watchers PPE and radios.
    • Fulfil the function of a safety watcher on site if safety watch resources are inadequate.
    • Inspect and monitor all hazardous work on site.
    • Monitor all activities related to confined space work under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (GSR 5).
    • Respond to unsafe, hazardous or emergency situations.
    • Conduct gas testing activities, hazard identification and risk assessments.
    • Operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors and hose carts.

    Graduate Programme - Richards Bay

    The Main Purpose of the Programme:

    Safety Watcher - Richards Bay

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Effective communication and leadership skills
    • Ability to deal with differences/conflict.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation
    • Knowledge and application of firefighting practices, methods and procedures
    • Knowledge of the storage, handling and the usage of hazardous materials fire prevention practices

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • 2 years’ experience in a similar role
    • 2 years’ experience in a Chemical storage/manufacturing plant
    • Valid Basic Fire Fighting
    • Valid First Aid Training

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Monitor all activities related to confined space work under the relevant legislation
    • Identify confined space and their hazards and adhere to the proper entry procedures required
    • Be prepared to respond to unsafe or emergency situations
    • Conduct gas testing activities, hazard identification and risk assessments
    • Monitor all hazardous and “hot work” areas that may require gas testing
    • Identify hazards and be prepared to respond to unsafe hazardous situations
    • Stop operations if any hazardous conditions are detected
    • Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the Permit to work
    • Maintain constant visual and voice contact with other employees
    • Inspect the entire work area and look for potential release of flammable vapours or liquids
    • Operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors and hose carts
    • Keep flammable materials from ignition sources
    • Assist with Leak Detection and Repair program.
    • Extinguish fires immediately or turn on the fire alarm
    • Be familiar with the exact location of firefighting equipment in the immediate area
    • Ensure the work area is free of hot sparks, embers and other fire hazards when operation is done
    • Ensure that emergency equipment is returned to the correct place after use.
    • Apply first aid techniques where applicable.
