    Rentals Liaison

    Description

    Quoting: 

    • Following up leads from prospective clients.
    • Meeting with local and international filmmakers and reporting back to Senior Management and Manager: Operations.
    • Booking in jobs as per clients request.
    • Compiling quotes in accordance with client specifications and ensure gear is booked accordingly.
    • Managing the quotations process from start to completion.
    • Preparing client agreements and ensuring adherence to applicable terms and conditions
    • Ensuring all allocations are completed timeously.
    • Planning for gear shortages.
    • Responding to relevant client correspondence (emails and phone calls) in a timeous manner.
    • Liaising with Production, crew and the operational floor staff to eliminate delays and unplanned changes.
    • Ensuring that the generator and operators are booked, as required.
    • Communicating high demand gear to Manager: Operations, based on client feedback.
    • Working with the operational team to plan logistics for hired-in gear or interbranch movement of gear.
    • Ensuring that the Rentals invoicing process is complete including missing and damaged equipment/items.

    Stakeholder Relationships: 

    • Building, supporting and maintaining interpersonal and team relationships to ensure stable working environment and achievement of team objectives

    Qualifications:

    • National Senior Certificate - Essential
    • Diploma - Sales - Recommended

    Experience:

    Dispatch & Receiving Clerk

    Description

    Inventory Movement 

    • Verifying dispatched and received assets against the assets on the Picking List.
    • Ensuring that gear is barcoded.
    • Completing asset check lists and handing over the picked assets to the client during gear check.
    • Ensuring that gear being received is identified and logged on the picking list.

    Dispatch & Receiving

    • Ensuring that gear being dispatched is in good working order.
    • Ensuring that picking lists and any other documentation are completed and signed off after the gear check is completed.
    • Assisting with loading gear in vehicles, when and if required.
    • Ensuring that when gear is received it is in good working order and that the dispatched kits are complete as per the dispatch check sheets.
    • Ensuring that all return documents are to be signed-off by client / client’s representative upon Despatch and Return of Gear and equipment.
    • Escalating issues with returned equipment to the relevant Departments and/or Supervisors.
    • Notifying Supervisor of any damages or discrepancies and/or missing equipment once gear is received.
    • Following the established missing and damages procedures, when and if required. 

    Stock Taking 

    • Assisting with Company stock take.

    Audio Mixer

    Live Broadcast Audio Mixing

    • Set up and manage fader strips, hybrids test unit, gain structures, and auxiliary channels on the mixing console.
    • Lineup sync test with JHB/CPT engineer (colour bars tone, clapper board test, lip sync and test signal generator)
    • Collaborate and/or substitute Audio Assistant’s function as required.
    • Operate the audio console during live and pre-recorded news bulletins.
    • Balance levels between microphones, music beds, effects, and external sources.
    • Follow TD’s instructions and correspond audio with vision mixer cues.
    • Follow auto cue/teleprompter.
    • Mix audio to required standards, meeting the international standards 0db where possible.
    • Monitor program output levels continuously to avoid distortion or dead air.
    • Ensure 100% audio readiness before going on-air.

    On-Location/Outside Broadcasts (OB)

    • Record synchronized sound using field mixers.
    • Conduct full gear checks before every shoot, including transmitters, receivers, batteries, and cabling.
    • Set up and label microphones, pair frequencies, and verify channel routing.
    • Collaborate with camera operators for sync tests.
    • Mic up talent, set EQ levels, and monitor battery life.
    • Ensure the correct aux channels are opened for hybrids/Telos units.
    • Set up and test remote feeds and comms systems.
    • Conduct lip sync and clapperboard tests with engineers in other locations (e.g., JHB/CPT).
    • Monitor and adjust the mix live during OBs, ensuring clarity and consistency.

    Audio Signal Management

    • Monitor all active audio channels and hybrid feeds.
    • Adjust package and hybrid levels dynamically based on editorial changes.
    • Set up EQs for on-air talent.
    • Use aux pre-fade to test hybrid lines before airing guests.
    • Ensure all changes reflect the vision of the director and editorial team.

    Equipment Management and Technical Maintenance

    • Maintain all studio and field audio equipment in working order.
    • Report faults immediately to the Head of Audio.
    • Ensure backups and spare batteries are always on hand.
    • Log all technical issues accurately for resolution and reporting.

    Compliance and Safety

    • Maintain audio equipment and report faults or servicing needs.
    • Ensure compliance with broadcast regulatory standards and copyright laws.
    • Ensure compliance with all broadcast regulations and copyright laws.
    • Participate in periodic compliance training as required.

    Stakeholder Relationships and Reporting

    • Collaborate with Technical Directors and Executive Producers to meet production requirements.
    • Engage actively in discussions, ensuring collaboration across multiple teams.
    • Build strong relationships, develop sources, and collaborate with media teams.
    • Write detailed reports on technical issues to the management team as required.

    Experience

    • 3 years in Audio and/or Broadcast
    • Drivers Licences - Essential
