    Coordinator: Planning

    About the role

    • Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
    • We are looking for 2 x Coordinator: Planning to exist as a key catalyst to centralization of the work planning function for the purpose of improving the maturity of Work Management within the area of responsibility, to ensure availability and reliability at a minimum cost.
    • This role will also be reporting in a matrix structure to the Manager: Asset Management in order to deliver on a Top-Down approach to Work Management Best Practices.

    Reporting to the Reliability Maintenance Manager and working in a challenging and exciting environment within Asset Management Operations, you will be:

    • Identifying, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting relevant information to support effective asset management and related decisions.
    • Providing information for systematic and rigorous root-cause analysis.
    • Participating in improvement and review of asset tactics.
    • Using all available asset health information for improved planning effectiveness
    • Managing the processes needed to implement whole of life plans.
    • Participate in reviewing and improving asset management strategies and tactics.
    • Applying the appropriate change practices.
    • Applying continuous improvement principles.

    What you’ll bring

    • N6 Diploma/S4 Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering,
    • Trade Tested with 5 to 8 years exposure to aspects of Work Management and Planning environment advantageous.
    • Asset Management and/or Work Management Certifications (advantageous)
    • Prior training in Work Management and experience in coaching within aspects Work Management
    • 5 years’ experience working and improving the Work Management process. Be familiar with Rio Tinto Asset Management Standards

    Artisan: Boilermaker

    About the role

    • We are looking for an Artisan: Boilermaker to execute assigned or scheduled maintenance and related jobs in designated areas

    Reporting to the Controller: Maintenance, you will:

    • Inspects and repairs assets in accordance with best practice.
    • Records job statistics.
    • Monitors, identifies, responds to and/or reports defects, sub-standard equipment performance and other improvement opportunities.
    • Performs condition checks according to job-cards, checklists and condition monitoring procedures.
    • Developing/fabricating engineering structures and components from standard engineering drawings
    • Assumes “technical ownership” of breakdown situations and manage all aspects of corrective work.
    • On-job training of Apprentices and up-skilling of Artisans.
    • Maintains and improves safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
    • Performs fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the supervisor.

    What you’ll bring

    To succeed in this role, you will have:

    • Grade 12 and/or N3 Mechanical 
    • Artisan Trade Test (Boilermaker).
    • 3 years’ in a heavy metal or mining industry
    • Multi-skilled in fitting discipline, with a strong ability to read and interpret drawings.

    Surveyor: Junior

    About the role

    • We are looking for a Junior Surveyor to ensure that all work for surveying, mapping and mine plans is undertaken as is required by the Regulations of Mine Health and Safety Act.

    Reporting to the Superintendent: Surveying, and working in a challenging and exciting environment within Mine Technical Services, you will:

    • Be Involved in the accurate measurement and recording of mine workings and be involved in surveying of product stockpiles to ensure accurate measurements.
    • Be working with the design, planning and safety of surface mining activities, which must be accurately represented on mine plans.
    • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed as well as prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
    • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
    • Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
    • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, and other characteristics of terrain as well as calculate ore production, in volume or mass units, from the mining operation.
    • Survey the volume of the dumps of waste accumulating on the surface of the mining property.
    • Be Setting out of boundaries, pit limits and elevations and be doing daily checks on loading bench and floor elevations.

    Quality Control: Technical

    About the role

    • We are looking for a Quality Control : Technician to control the quality of technical execution of the shut and increase reliability and availability of equipment. QCT are responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet set standards of quality, reliability and performance meet customer expectations. Establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications for a company. Collaborate with an organization’s stores to ensure spares supplied meet quality requirements. Set and enforce standards during work execution. Read and interpret drawings. Have vast knowledge of the system used by the organization.

    Reporting to the Co-ordinator: RMM & SP&L Shut, you will:

    • Perform full plant shutdown with loss of production for a concentrated period above (12 hours, 1 week, 2 weeks, etc.) as per agreed shutdown schedule.
    • Ensure all shutdown planning will follow the Rio Tinto shut management process and liaise with planner or QCP to have the list of work that is going to be done in the shut.
    • Engage with Engineer/Reliability Engineer regarding which tasks that require QA/QC and assign operations in the work orders.
    • List all the tasks that require fabrication or refurbishments and acquire drawings to understand the scope and technical background.
    • Verify if the QA/QC templates for the tasks identified are available if not, liaise with Reliability Engineer to create the templates and review the established templates if they are relevant and updated and rectify thereof and liaise with Shut Controller regarding the spares received to quality inspect spares if they are correct as per BOM specifications and if they are not damaged.
    • Verify the spares in the plant and spares received and engage with fabricating refurbishment vendor to agree on hold/Witness points for the equipment’s to be fabricated.
    • Liaise with the shut planner to assign resources that will do conduct QA/QC during the shut and have all documents required ready.
    • During execution, ensure that all the QA/QC are being conducted and the documents are filled and keep record of the QA/QC done and analyse the QA/QC, and any deviations to be reported to Reliability Engineer for changes in the system and also in the drawings.

    Advisor : Business Improvement

    Reporting to the Principal Advisor: Operations Excellence and working in a collaborative community within the Business Improvement team, you will:

    • Assist in the development and deployment of business improvement method and tools, in line with the organization’s vision of becoming The Best Operator.
    • Participate and lead audits of Rio Tinto Safe Production System best practices, improvement/LEAN adoption across the business.
    • Interface with various departments on Information Centers, 5S boards, and other business improvement activities.
    • Support compliance with standardise processes, systems, and tools.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement projects and support/develop effective project scopes.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and employees.
    • Provide technical support to project stakeholders.
    • Deliver training for business improvement tools and methodologies using training standards and material.

    What you’ll bring

    • A Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
    • At least 5 years of relevant heavy industry and lean implementation experience.
    • Relevant Degree would be advantageous.

    • Strong teaching, coaching, and mentoring skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a challenging work environment to consistently deliver quality service to the organization.
