    Research Manager (R826A)

    Key responsibilities:

    • The design and implementation of strategies to effectively disseminate research findings to local, regional, and international stakeholders.
    • Developing and supporting high-quality publications that enhance the visibility of SAMRC within national, regional, and global discussions.
    • Engage in dissemination activities by creating user-friendly summaries and communication materials that synthesize research for diverse audiences.
    • Supporting training and capacity strengthening of staff and students across the SAMRC, including reviewers in South Africa and the continent more broadly.
    • With supporting research programmes and internal unit activities, the job holder may be required to deliver presentations and represent the SAMRC at selected meetings, conferences, workshops, or seminars.

    Core Requirements:

    • PhD in health sciences, epidemiology, or related discipline
    • 3-5 years working experience in a research environment
    • Presenting at postgraduate level / Contribution to student supervision
    • Working knowledge of Publication database searching such as Pubmed
    • Presenting at workshops/meetings
    • Contributing author of conference presentation output
    • Quantitative research methods / Epidemiology concepts

    Advantageous:

    • Interest in Non-communicable diseases
    • Excellent writing skills/science communication
    • Capacity in Digital or social media tools

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate and Health Epidemiology (R818B)

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with co-ordination of study activities
    • Data processing, analysis and writing scientific manuscripts
    • Create research translation outputs such as policy briefs and media

    Requirements:

    • A PhD qualification in epidemiology/public health/biostatistics/medical statistics
    • Excellent data analytical skills, with proficiency in STATA or R
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Code 8/10 driver’s license

    Advantageous:

    • Experience with geographical information systems (GIS)
