    Junior Metallurgist: Minerals Processing

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To perform the role of Junior Metallurgist within the Minerals Processing division, although duties may be required within other departments of the Metallurgy division. The responsibilities and authorities of the Junior Metallurgist in the Minerals Processing division, in relation to requirements of managerial, technical and key support personnel, are outlined in this document.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Junior Metallurgist shall adhere to the following:

    • Take control over data processing, including reporting of the testwork according to company guidelines.  Report writing must be at a high standard and care must be given to use correct and appropriate grammar.
    • Take responsibility for the monitoring of consumables and all expenses and coordinating this information with the divisional manager.
    • Evaluate and interpret results of conducted test-work and assist with troubleshooting.
    • Manage, train and direct subordinates in all matters related to quality, testwork methodology, safety and time management.
    • Assist with the processing of data on projects dedicated to him/her.
    • Liaise with Clients regularly and in a professional manner.
    • Design and cost metallurgical test-work programs to achieve Client objectives.
    • Participate in project decision making during the testwork program.
    • Assist with monthly invoicing for testwork completed.
    • Ensure that work is scheduled and carried out in a timely manner, and relevant quality benchmarks are maintained.
    • Meet company targets with respect to turnover and quality.
    • Take responsibility for the effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities, thereby always maintain good housekeeping.
    • Assist with the development, documentation and maintenance of methods and competence modules.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
    • Be fully able to conduct cyanidation and diagnostic testwork.

    SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

    • Manage production and operations safely.
    • Understand the requirements of the SGS Quality Management System.
    • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations.
    • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or cease to enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection. Report such situations to higher authorities to act.
    • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality or integrity of services and report the situation to a higher authority to act.
    • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
    • Remember that any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation to a higher authority.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Matric Certificate with Diploma and or B.Sc. / B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy. Experience may be taken into consideration if the candidate does not have a tertiary degree.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years in the relevant field.

    Senior Operator: Gold Biometallurgy

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To perform the role of Senior Operator within the Gold & Biometallurgy division, although duties may be required within other departments of the Metallurgy division.
    • The responsibilities and authorities of the Senior Operator in the Gold and Biometallurgy division, in relation to requirements of managerial, technical and key support personnel, are outlined in this document.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Senior Operator shall adhere to the following:

    • Perform routine and non-routine tests following established procedures and/or modify procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
    • Complete tasks within the allocated time and plan work for operators to ensure that the overall service goals of the company are met.
    • Responsible for reporting any infringements or non–compliances by any other laboratory staff member with respect to allocated work, punctuality, or any other misdemeanor to the metallurgist.
    • Must be able to interpret and perform calculations on testwork including calculating the use of reagents.
    • Must be able to set up and conduct test-work independently.
    • Must be able to calculate reagent dosages for gold tests based on sample mass and volume.
    • Must be able to carry out all associated sample preparation test-work.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
    • Assist in conducting cyanidation and diagnostic testwork.

    Accounts Payables Coordinator

    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Ensure all supplier invoices are captured daily.
    • Accounts are kept clean and paid up to date.
    • Xerox/RT rejections are checked daily and followed up with BPAs to amend and fix errors.
    • Ageing kept clean and notes are given on problem accounts to Team Lead.
    • Provide accruals to team lead at month end before closing.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Receive supplier invoices and statements.
    • Extract invoices from za. payables folder daily.
    • Compile month end statements and upload in share point folder.
    • Check monthly statements that all invoices are received and captured.
    • Deal with queries from business and Kenya Team.
    • Help the Kenya Team clear the Cash Management report before month end.
    • HR and BBBEE payments are to be prioritized.
    • Before month end compile payment list from ageing, submit to hub for payment.
    • Address all month end queries from the divisions.
    • Will be working in iProc / RT Capture System
    • Ad hoc assignments

    • Non-PO invoices must be sent to business to sign off approval and Cost Centre locations must be specified by business.

    • Ensure that all company details are correct on invoice before submitted invoice on RT system and Xerox.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • Financial Management / Administrative qualification will be an advantage and/or proven years of account payable functions, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through – Recognition of Prior Learning
    • Proficient on MS Office, especially with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel programs
