    Technician Supervisor

    Job Description
    The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

    • Manage the efficient operation of the ESD maintenance and projects section to meet corporate and legal requirements;
    • Supervise and control the maintenance program to ensure the effective operation of the maintenance department;
    • Supervise the major equipment refurbishment program to optimise existing assets to reduce operating costs;
    • Manage training;
    • Manage project work programs;
    • Control all on-site installations and maintenance to meet the high-quality workmanship of contractors;
    • Co-ordinate within a specified area the SHERQ requirements;
    • Ensuring the highest level of safety at all times to eliminate risk to personnel and property.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A minimum of Matric or Grade 12 Senior certificate with Maths, Science and English;
    • A minimum of N6 and/or Diploma Mechanical Engineering;
    • Trade Tested Artisan in related Engineering field;
    • Basic business management certificate;
    • A registered gas installer with SACGA accreditation (preferred);
    • A minimum of 10 years of heavy engineering/production environment within the Gas or related industry;
    • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity with proven experience in managing Technicians, Artisans and Contractors;
    • Ability to create an environment of knowledge transfer in cross-functional teams;
    • Must have experience in dealing with all levels of customers and suppliers;
    • Must have a working knowledge of SHERQ management systems and related ISO standards;
    • Must have strong organisational and planning skills with good verbal and written communication skills;
    • Must be medically fit to work at heights;
    • Must have a valid unendorsed code 08 driver's licence and own a reliable vehicle;
    • Must be willing to work overtime and travel when required
    • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office Suite for weekly and monthly report writing etc.

    Training Specialist - Truck Driver Training

    Job Description

    • The Training Specialist/ Truck Driver Trainer is responsible for all aspects of product training, driving best practices (including relevant EHS training) for drivers, and external customers. Delivering the driver training curriculum, as set out in the curriculum, working to Air Products SA and Global policies and standards and according to the Technical Training process.

    Key areas of responsibility for this role include but are not limited to:

    • Deliver and maintain Driver Curriculum Training both paper and eLearning system.
    • Responsible for Classroom and practical training and assessment (Driver and Operator).
    • Ensure adherence to Technical Training Procedures.
    • Provide support to Bulk Distribution Technical Training.
    • Update and maintain training plans and training records, both electronic and paper.
    • Continuous improvement and BSP Champion.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A Grade 12/ Matric qualification;
    • Formal training qualification in addition to Driver training Assessor and Moderator qualification and experience is desirable;
    • A valid unendorsed Code EC Drivers licence with Dangerous Goods (PrDPd);
    • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience within the Gas Industry or Manufacturing/Petro Chemical industries.
    • Must have at least 5-8 Years as a Technical Trainer/Truck Driver Trainer;
    • Cryogenic, CO2 & Packed Gas cylinder fill operations experience would be an added advantage;
    • Computer literate in MS Office with a high degree of proficiency in MS Excel and Outlook.
    • The ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

    Project Engineer - PLC Programming

    Key overview and responsibilities:

    • The Project Engineer will be responsible for the management of new installations and associated resources. 

    The key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

    • Design safe and cost effective engineered solutions for customer requirements;
    • Lead and direct the installation and commissioning of equipment on customer sites for Bulk Engineering department;
    • Responsible for electrical and instrumentation system design and installation;
    • Responsible for project management activities in Bulk Engineering department;
    • Responsible for providing maintenance support;
    • Support regional and maintenance activities as and when required.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric or equivalent qualification;
    • Must have a completed Degree/Diploma in Chemical/Electrical/Instrumentation engineering;
    • Project Management qualification would be advantageous;
    • Minimum of 3 – 7 years experience in a Project /Maintenance and Engineering environment in the Industrial or Chemical industry;
    • Experience in Cryogenic Design and Project Management would be advantageous;

    Technician - Gas Installer

    Job Description

    • The Technician will be responsible for the performance of required installations and maintenance activities on Reef operational sites effectively, efficiently, and safely. Key areas of responsibility for this role include but are not limited to:
    • Performance of planned & unplanned maintenance and installation activities as directed;
    • Planning, communicating, and reporting on maintenance and installation activities within the area;
    • Assisting with and performance of identified project activities as directed;
    • Compliance with required Safety systems and protocols within APSAP and customer sites.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A Matric certificate with Maths and Science or N3 qualification with technical subjects;
    • Must be a Red Seal Trade-Tested Artisan (preferably a Millwright or Fitter);
    • Have a proven record of Apprenticeship;
    • Advantages to being a registered accredited SACGA gas installer;
    • A valid unendorsed code 08 driver’s license;
    • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance work experience in an engineering environment in the Industrial or Chemical Industry;
    • Cryogenic gas experience would be advantageous;
    • Must have good verbal and written communication skills;
    • Must be computer literate and proficient in the MS Office Suite;
    • Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as and when required;
    • Must be willing to be on standby on weekends and public holidays;
    • Must be willing to travel extensively as and when required;
    • Medically fit to work at heights.

    Controls and Instrumentation Technician

    Overview & Key Responsibilities

    • The Controls and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for instrumentation maintenance on all Air Products facilities. The key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:
    • Maintain all plant instrumentation and controls, including troubleshooting, installation and repairs.
    • Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols, including contractor management in line with AP health and safety requirements;
    • Responsible for Control System Engineering;
    • Actively manage plant projects when required to do so in line with AP best practices;
    • Ensuring effective and efficient communication.
    • Assist in providing support to Operations teams to solve and resolve process operating problems including, plant efficiency, reliability, and operability issues;
    • Implement and maintain advanced control initiatives;
    • Improves productivity of process operations by implementation of advanced controls and IP 21 changes.

    Essential Requirements

    • A minimum of Grade 12 qualification;
    • Must be Instrumentation Red Seal Trade tested or have a relevant technical qualification (S4);
    • Must have 5 years of experience on heavy industry Instrumentation and Control equipment;
    • Must have 3 years PLC/DCS experience on one or more of the following systems, Allen Bradley PLC’S, Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800XA;
    • Be proficient with Aspen IP21, DMC or similar;
    • Must have project management experience;
    • Willing to work overtime as and when required;
    • Ability to work collaboratively with plant operators, process engineers and plant management;
    • Knowledge of MS office suite particularly Excel and Word;
    • Must have basic knowledge of NOSA and ISO Standards;
    • Must have a valid driver’s license (Code B).

    • A 3-year relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable e.g. BBA or BCom in Logistics/Supply Chain Management or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Logistics, BSc or BSc (Eng) with postgraduate certification in Logistics/Supply Chain Management;
    • A minimum of 10 Years of work experience in a supply chain operations environment, preferably in the chemical and or industrial gases sector;
    • A minimum of 5 to 8 Years experience in the direct management of People and Teams;
    • A minimum of 3 to 5 Years experience in Demand Planning & Administration;
    • Must be computer literate and proficient in the MS Office Suite;
    • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, specifically in English.
