The Controls and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for instrumentation maintenance on all Air Products facilities. The key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:
Maintain all plant instrumentation and controls, including troubleshooting, installation and repairs.
Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols, including contractor management in line with AP health and safety requirements;
Responsible for Control System Engineering;
Actively manage plant projects when required to do so in line with AP best practices;
Ensuring effective and efficient communication.
Assist in providing support to Operations teams to solve and resolve process operating problems including, plant efficiency, reliability, and operability issues;
Implement and maintain advanced control initiatives;
Improves productivity of process operations by implementation of advanced controls and IP 21 changes.
Essential Requirements
A minimum of Grade 12 qualification;
Must be Instrumentation Red Seal Trade tested or have a relevant technical qualification (S4);
Must have 5 years of experience on heavy industry Instrumentation and Control equipment;
Must have 3 years PLC/DCS experience on one or more of the following systems, Allen Bradley PLC’S, Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800XA;
Be proficient with Aspen IP21, DMC or similar;
Must have project management experience;
Willing to work overtime as and when required;
Ability to work collaboratively with plant operators, process engineers and plant management;
Knowledge of MS office suite particularly Excel and Word;
Must have basic knowledge of NOSA and ISO Standards;
