    Project Engineering Lead (Release)

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Project Engineering Lead to be based in Cape Town, South Africa and be part of our global team.
    • The Project Engineering function is primarily responsible for engineering services and support to projects.
    • The primary mandate of the Project Engineering Lead is to produce and deliver the technical deliverables required by the projects he/she is assigned to and drive any technical processes within such projects.
    • A Project Engineering Lead is involved in a project throughout the project implementation phase, is formally assigned at the start of the project structuring phase and formally hands over his/her duties at the start of the power production phase to the Technical Asset Management function.
    • Within his/her function the Project Engineering Lead, reports to the Project Engineering Manager (as the functional line manager) and within a project to the Project Manager.
    • The Project Engineering Lead works closely with the rest of the implementation team and site electrical leads. 

    Main responsibilities:

    • Leading the implementation engineering workstreams: Proactively plan, manage and produce project engineering deliverables according to the Release Operating System process, the Release Master Document List of deliverables and as per the specific requirements of the project.
    • Actively participate in project handovers: Under the facilitation of the Project Engineering Manager, actively drive the efficient technical handovers from the technical development function as well as towards the technical asset management function.
    • Technical support to project teams: Provide day-to-day technical support, training and guidance to project teams, including the PMs, construction managers, site teams and the site quality function.
    • Support to procurement process: Work with procurement function on all project technical procurement work, with a focus on project BoQ reviews and updates, supplier interaction related to equipment produced for projects (specifications, FATs, etc)
    • Coordinate technical reviews: Champion the execution and review the engineering deliverables produced by the important workstreams such as: Technical detail design drawings, technical calculations, project BoQs, performance testing, handover documentation, etc.
    • Technical coordination with project third parties: Serve as the technical interface towards equipment suppliers, service providers, consultants and clients with regards to the projects being led.
    • Reporting to management: To regularly report to management on project technical deliverables and their status, challenges, bottlenecks, risks and opportunities to the Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager.

    Important role interfaces:

    • Project engineering: Day-to-day interaction and alignment with site teams (as functional subordinates) and project implementation team members.
    • Product engineering: Interaction in the form of communicating project needs and continuous product improvement form project lessons learnt.
    • Interaction with the Technical Development function will entail coordinating smooth handovers between DG2-3 and ad-hoc requests for high-level review of client information.
    • Interaction with the Procurement and Logistics function will entail collaborating on the equipment and services sourcing for projects and logistics to projects.
    • Interaction with the Project Management function will entail the initial project setup and continuous technical support throughout the implementation phase of projects.
    • Interaction with the Project Site Teams entail the continuous technical support throughout the DG3-4 installation phase of projects. This involves training of installation personnel and follow-up of technical issues not able to be solved by the project site team themselves.
    • Interaction with the Document Control interface to align on the control of project engineering deliverables, including reviews, transmittals, etc.
    • Interaction with the Quality Assurance/Control function will entail collaboration with on-site teams on project specific quality work. To identify potential engineering-related quality risks and develop contingency plans in collaboration with QCs.
    • Interaction with the Technical Asset Management function will revolve around coordinating effective technical handovers at DG4.

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Engineering Degree, preferably Electrical
    • 7+ years electrical engineering experience
    • 5+ years EPC/construction projects experience
    • 3+ years renewable energy sector experience (mainly solar PV, BESS experience is an advantage)
    • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering
    • Advanced understanding of the procurement and construction processes
    • Excellent MS Office Suite software knowledge and good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF app)
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, project management tools (project planning) and methodologies
    • Valid driver's license

    Senior Electrician (Solar & Bess) - Kenhardt

    Main purpose of position

    Currently we are looking for a Senior Electrician (Solar & Bess) in Kenhardt, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Electrician (Solar & Bess) you will perform Electrical work on the Plant that will include Modification, Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment and Systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level. You will be required to support to provide training and supervision to junior personnel and to be the Authorized Person on Duty (APD) when the Technical Manager is off site.

     

    Main responsibilities

    • Perform Electrical duities on the Plant: Work in the modification, technical troubleshoot, repair test and maintenance of all facility electrical equipment, systems, and network communication(s)
    • Complete routine safety documentation before every job including tailgate meetings, electrical work permits, etc.
    • Perform switching, isolation, safety test and earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level of the organizational ORHVS and Plant Safety Regulations (PSR)
    • Perform OEM specific Preventative and Corrective Maintenance tasks on BESS, trackers, and all other PV electrical equipment to adhere to warranty requirements and industry best practices
    • Interpret schematics and blueprints
    • Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed
    • Daily digital reporting and document on CMMS the maintenance activities of all facility electrical equipment, systems, and spare parts
    • Control and perform monthly electrical equipment/instruments and tools inspections
    • Monitor and support the activities of the BESS Maintenance Contractor
    • Perform all maintenance activities on BESS in line with BESS contract training requirements
    • Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes
    • Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
    • Perform functions of Authorised Person and Responsible Person as per Plant requirements
    • HVAC Duties: Assist with installation and commissioning as per OEM specification
    • Assist with work in the modification, technical troubleshooting, repair test, and maintenance of all HVAC equipment and systems

    • Assist and support the monitoring of all the activities of the BESS Maintenance Contractor
    • Assist in performing all maintenance activities on BESS in line with BESS contract training requirements

    • Supervise, train and evaluate junior electrical staff in associated duties
    • Support client training pre-COD and BESS training requirement post-COD

    • Report to Plant Management and perform Appointed Person on Duty (APD) functions when Technical Manager is not on site

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • N3 Qualification, Qualified Electrician and ORHVS qualification
    • Registered 3 phase installation electrician (SANS 10142); not single-phase tester
    • Computer literate – Excel & Word
    • 6+ years Electrical experience – AC & DC electrical systems
    • Solar PV Plant & BESS experience advantageous
    • Proven experience on MV & HV equipment troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance
    • Ability to take ownership of electrical systems on the plant

    Storeperson - Kenhardt

    Main purpose of position

    Currently we are looking for a Storeperson in Kenhardt, Northern Cape to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Storeperson you will manage both inward and outward stock movement whilst maintaining accuracy and integrity of the stores inventory records including all associated documentation and record keeping for accounting purposes. To develop and maintain a professional relationship with third party carriers, courier companies, and freight forwarders ensuring the companies’ reputation and values are portrayed.

     

    Main responsibilities 

    • Loading and unloading goods from delivery vehicles
    • Checking that the correct quantity and type of goods have been received and records any damaged, missing, or faulty goods and signs the delivery note, once satisfied that goods are complete
    • Keep storage stock, fixtures, and fittings organized and tidy and store spare parts as per OEM recommendation and/ or industry best practice
    • Move the goods to the correct area in the warehouse, either manually or using mechanical handling equipment and label correctly and report to the Facility Controller and/or daily any issues relating to goods movement
    • Receipt stock in accordance with policies and procedures and assist in processing claims where required on faulty goods, late deliveries, and short deliveries
    • Assist in ensuring all faulty credit stock is returned to supplier in a timely manner and ensure all paperwork associated with credits are complete and recorded accurately
    • Keep the warehouse and/ or stores and workshop clean and tidy ensuring stock can be stored in a dust/dirt free environment
    • Participate and assist during inventory audits and adhere to the company policies

    Health & Safety

    • Using applicable equipment for spare parts movement
    • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by:
    • Reporting all accidents and hazards
    • Avoiding unsafe work practices at work

    Qualifications and competencies

    • Grade 12 or NQF equivalent
    • Valid Code B driving license and certificate in stock controlling course
    • 1+ year working experience in a Renewable energy plant environment
    • Basic knowledge of SharePoint would be advantageous
    • Preferably some experience working in a solar operations and maintenance environment
    • Basic understanding of Operations and Maintenance processes and technical knowledge
    • Familiar with Computer Maintenance Management System and proficient in the use of MS (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Have knowledge of purchasing and requisitioning procedures and inventory control and logistics

    Plant Supervisor - Upington

    Main purpose of position

    Currently we are looking for a Solar Plant Supervisor in Dyasons Klip 2 PV Plant in Upington, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Solar Plant Supervisor, you will manage and supervise the Operations and Maintenance activities of the Solar PV Plant under his/her control and be the interface to the O&M Manager or Plants Manager. To ensure the Health and Safety of all people and equipment under his/her control, whilst always ensuring maximum possible energy production. In addition, perform electrical work on the Plant that will include modification, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level.

     

    Main responsibilities

    • Manage and supervise all personnel on site, including Scatec personnel, contractors and visitors
    • Operate and manage the Plant in accordance with the O&M Operating System requirements
    • Mentor staff and manage corrective action as per HR guidelines with support from the O&M Manager
    • Implement, maintain and drive HSE systems and principles at the Plant
    • Manage and communicate as required with all pertinent stakeholders including the Utility as required by the O&M Manager.
    • Manage spare parts and stock
    • Ensure all Maintenance is performed on time and as per requirement
    • Ensure Corrective Maintenance is performed as promptly as possible in a safe manner
    • Appoint and manage all required appointees, with input from O&M Manager, and ensure that duties are executed as required
    • Ensure that an Appointed Person on Duty (APD) is always available on site
    • Ensure all SSOM Plant Safety Regulations (SSOM-PSR) and Operational Regulations for High Voltage Systems (SSOM-ORHVS) requirements are adhered to
    • Ensure the interest of the Owners are protected
    • Assist with internal and external audits and ensure compliance
    • Ensure all Warranties and supplier Guarantees are kept intact
    • Reporting: Ensure recordkeeping of all activities and events
    • Ensure monthly, daily, weekly and all other required internal and external reports are accurate and on time
    • Support O&M Manager in reporting and investigations
    • Perform general and ad hoc duties: Ensure optimal operation of the Plant by using trend analysis and other optimisation tools and techniques
    • Perform LV and HV switching as per Authorisation level

    Driver- Kenhardt

    Main purpose of the position

    Currently we are looking for a Driver in Kenhardt, Northern Cape in South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Driver you will be responsible to transport employees in a comfortable, safe, and timely manner from the designated employee collection points to site, inside PV Plant and collection of goods at service providers in Upington/Kenhardt, Northern Cape Province, South Africa.

     

    Main Responsibilities

    • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most efficient trip
    • Pick-up and drop-off employees from designated collection points at the stipulated times
    • Collect goods/equipment in business center as per Facilities Coordinator and Technical manager’s instructions
    • Assist in loading and off-loading of goods and equipment at the O&M building(s) and/or warehouse and inside PV plant
    • Adjust the route to avoid traffic or road construction as needed
    • Liaise with Facilities Controller to schedule regular vehicle and plant machinery services/repairs
    • Driving of PV module cleaning machinery (robotic), mini loaders e.g., multi-one to move equipment, spare parts and use of associated equipment as required
    • Abiding by all transportation laws and maintain safe driving record
    • Preparing report and other documents relating to collection and deliveries of goods/equipment
    • Assist technical specialist team on site in performing electrical preventative maintenance activities (e.g., cleaning of inverters and transformers, brushing and painting etc.)
    • Additional performing electrical corrective maintenance activities g., installing of cables)
    • Perform tasks associated with mechanical works including torquing of PV module structures and vegetation management with electrical/mechanical and gardening tools to ensure safe clearances under and around electrical equipment
    • Perform tasks associated with PV module washing, road maintenance and erosion control measures
    • Excavate defined areas using handled tools, laying of materials and reinforcement products (concrete blocks etc)
    • Assisting with the move of equipment and spares in warehouse
    • General housekeeping, gardening and cleaning as required inside/outside O&M building and warehouse
    • Perform daily maintenance activities as per work order to meet production target

    Health & Safety

    • Contribute to a safe and healthy working environment by promptly reporting unsafe working conditions
    • Reporting all incidents, accidents, hazards and avoiding unsafe work practices at work
    • Ensure vehicle, machinery and equipment is always in good working condition (perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks )

    Qualifications And Competencies

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification
    • A valid Profession Driving Permit (PrDp) and defensive driving course is advantageous
    • Valid Multi One Operating certificate (Code F1 or Code F2) advantageous
    • 5 – 7 years proven experience as a driver with C1 (Code 10)
    • Solar PV plant background would be advantageous
    • Good understanding of QHSSE and basic mechanical experience on solar PV plant
    • Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
    • Experience in driving a motor vehicle designated to carry 12 or more people (driver included)
    • Demonstrate good understanding of operational and maintenance processes in renewable energy plant environment
    • Proven Clean driving record and Valid drivers’ license
