    HOD: Logistics

    • Boxer Superstores is looking for an experienced HOD: Logistics to join our Supply Chain leadership team.
    • Reporting to the GM: Logistics, this senior management role is responsible for managing the operational aspects of warehousing and distribution, with accountability across Distribution Centre performance, transport costs, warehouse running costs, throughput, shrinkage and damages, and OHS and business audit compliance.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • 3-year Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, BCom Logistics, or a related field
    • More than 10 years’ experience, with 10–15 years’ experience within the logistics industry
    • 10 years’ senior management experience
    • Previous warehouse management / Distribution Centre management experience is essential
    • Previous transport experience
    • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
    • Knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS)
    • Knowledge of demand planning systems
    • Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
    • HighJump experience
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • Ability to travel extensively

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Distribution Centre Performance

    • Ensure fully functioning Warehouse Management Systems.
    • Drive staff productivity across Distribution Centre operations.
    • Manage daily operational performance to achieve required KPIs.
    • Drive internal DC strike rate (available to pick) towards the required 99% target.
    • Drive order-versus-delivery strike rate towards the required 90% target.

    Transport Management

    • Oversee the planning and routing of vehicles.
    • Manage third-party transporter rates and utilisation.
    • Oversee fixed fleet planning.
    • Optimise vehicle utilisation.
    • Manage transport costs against the divisional target of a maximum of 3%.

    Warehouse Cost Management

    • Manage staffing structures and associated warehouse costs.
    • Oversee machinery, repairs and maintenance, building maintenance and sundry expenses.
    • Manage rental costs associated with warehouse space.
    • Establish productivity standards and maximum operational capabilities.
    • Manage within-wall running costs against the required 2% target, excluding transport and Head Office costs.

    Throughput & Facility Management

    • Oversee full facility management.
    • Drive achievement of budgeted throughput at budgeted expense across outbound pallets, value and cases.

    Shrinkage & Damages

    • Manage loss-control measures.
    • Ensure adherence to required processes and procedures.
    • Drive stock-count accuracy.
    • Oversee security and internal product handling.
    • Maintain combined shrinkage and damages below the required 0.2% target.

    OHS & Business Audit Compliance

    • Ensure Distribution Centres maintain standards set by the business.
    • Drive successful audit outcomes.
    • Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

    Sustainability Officer

    Job Advert Summary    

    • An exciting opportunity has become available for a Sustainability Officer to join our Sustainability team.
    • Reporting to the ESG/Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Officer will support the execution of the company’s ESG strategy through ESG data management, performance monitoring and reporting. The role will also support the rollout and monitoring of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and coordinate selected environmental, resource-efficiency and Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) projects.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • BSc, BTech or Diploma in a STEM-related field, including Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
    • 2–5 years’ relevant working experience
    • Experience in Sustainability, ESG, environmental management, sustainability reporting, ESG data management, responsible sourcing and/or Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD)
    • Demonstrated experience collecting, validating, analysing and reporting non-financial or operational data
    • Experience coordinating cross-functional projects and maintaining audit-ready supporting evidence
    • Working knowledge of energy, greenhouse-gas emissions, water, waste, recycling and resource-efficiency metrics
    • Understanding of environmental and social risk management and ESMS principles
    • Ability to prepare concise dashboards, management reports, presentations and committee submissions
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capability
    • Understanding of data quality, calculation methodologies, evidence retention, version control and audit trails
    • Working knowledge of ESG reporting concepts and frameworks, including IFRS S1/S2, GRI, SASB, SBTi and CDP
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively

    Advantageous

    • Retail, FMCG, supply-chain or multi-site operating experience
    • Power BI or comparable data-visualisation capability

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    ESG Data Management & Reporting

    • Manage ESG KPIs, operational and project data, reporting templates and source evidence.
    • Support accurate, complete and traceable ESG datasets.
    • Prepare dashboards and reporting inputs.

    ESG Performance Monitoring

    • Monitor performance against approved targets and departmental plans.
    • Review monthly and quarterly performance data.
    • Support timely variance analysis, performance insights and corrective actions.

    ESMS Implementation & Monitoring

    • Support the implementation and monitoring of ESMS policies and procedures.
    • Maintain risk registers, action plans, incident records and compliance records.
    • Support the embedding of ESMS requirements and ensure records and actions remain current.

    Environmental & Resource-Efficiency Projects

    • Coordinate approved environmental and resource-efficiency projects.
    • Work with energy, water, waste, emissions and refrigeration data.
    • Support projects aimed at delivering measurable environmental and operational benefits.

    ESD & Supplier Sustainability

    • Coordinate selected ESD and supplier-sustainability initiatives.
    • Maintain beneficiary and supplier data, project plans, partner reports and procurement requirements.
    • Monitor project milestones and maintain reliable supporting records.

    Governance & Stakeholder Coordination

    • Coordinate committee calendars, action registers, business-unit submissions and stakeholder feedback.
    • Support quality submissions and effective action tracking.
    • Escalate identified risks or delays timeously.

    Research & Continuous Improvement

    • Monitor relevant regulatory developments, ESG reporting frameworks, peer disclosures and good practice.
    • Assess relevant developments and recommend practical improvements.
