    Senior BI Developer

    Role Description and Objectives:

    • This is a full-time Senior Business Intelligence Developer role with Hollard Insure.
    • As a Senior BI Developer, you will focus on the back-end development of our BI solutions, leveraging your expertise in ETL processes, data warehousing, and the Microsoft technology stack. Your role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across the business.
    • You will be responsible for tasks such as data modelling, dashboard creation, reporting creation and using your analytical skills to provide valuable insights to our business stakeholders.
    • You will be responsible for improving profitability by supporting the Hollard Insure Strategy through business intelligence:
    • Enhance Business Decision-Making: Develop and deliver comprehensive BI solutions, including reports and dashboards, to support strategic decision-making.
    • Optimize Business Processes: Utilize data insights to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
    • Improve Data-Driven Culture: Foster a data-driven culture by providing accessible and actionable insights.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory to ensure efficient data flow and accuracy.
    • Data Warehousing: Insight on the development and maintenance of our data warehousing solutions, implementing best practices for data organization, transformation, and storage.
    • Data Modelling: Create and maintain robust and accurate data models that support business intelligence and analytics needs.
    • Reporting and Analysis: Develop, implement, and optimize complex reports and dashboards, ensuring data integrity and performance.
    • Database Management: Work closely with the DBA team to Oversee and manage SQL Server databases, ensuring security, availability, and performance.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other BI developers to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver effective solutions.
    • Business as Usual BI: Sources data and consults with various stakeholders as needed, in order to ensure the availability and accuracy of data required for the development of the necessary BI and the development of standard reports and bespoke reports as required by the business. Develop, implements and oversee post implementation support and maintenance and BI tools and solutions to solve applicable BI business challenges.
    • Regulatory Reporting: Reports to the Regulator and is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of various regulatory reports in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Required to represent Hollard Insure in various regulatory forums, like SAIA, SASRIA to keep abreast on the essential regulatory requirements from a short-term insurance reporting perspective
    • Business rule definition: Ensure that business intelligence & reporting business rules are well defined, in order to minimise confusion. Ensure that all data rules align with business requirements and are aligned to the Hollard Insure BU strategies.
    • Data Extraction and validation: Ensure that all necessary validations are in place and that data is reconciled through the data value chain.
    • Accuracy: Provide accurate reports to the functional areas within Hollard Insure
    • Creativity & Innovation: Be a creative leader that identifies opportunities for innovation, that will ultimately eradicate repetitive activities in our process and provide a self-service to our business stakeholders. Take a lead on the report and visualization automation initiatives for Hollard Insure
    • Stakeholder management: Take ownership of escalated complaints or queries and offer possible solution to stakeholders / clients and ensure all are resolved and feedback given to relevant parties.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • 5 - 7 years in MIS / Business Intelligence (BI), Reporting, analytical or quantitative environment within the Insurance and/or financial services industry
    • 5 – 7 years’ experience in the creation of MI, BI and Reporting, as well as Customer segmentation, product, sales, scorecard and measurement analysis.
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align BI strategies with overall business objectives and identify opportunities for data-driven innovation.
    • Mentorship: Proven experience mentoring teams of BI professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
    • Advanced Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, R / Pythion Programming languages and Azure Data Factory.
    • Data Architecture: Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and data governance principles.
    • Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and experience in cloud-based BI solutions, though AWS will also be advantageous
    • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of the insurance industry and the ability to translate business requirements into effective BI solutions.
    • Advanced Analytics: Expertise in advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
    • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices will be advantageous
    • 5+ years’ experience of delivering Business Intelligence projects using Microsoft tools, Visualization Tools (SSRS, Power BI).

    Data Engineer

        Role Objectives:

    • The primary objective of this role is to design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable Big Data Pipelines and data architectures, ensuring optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data across multiple application platforms. The Data Engineer will act as a custodian of data, ensuring compliance with information classification requirements, and enabling data consumers to build and optimize data consumption effectively. This role demands profound technical expertise in Data Engineering, Data Warehouse Design, and advanced analytics, utilizing modern software engineering concepts and BI tools.     Project Related Deliverables and Tasks

    Assist the Data Engineering Lead on the below-listed tasks:

    • Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support cloud data technology goals from the chosen MS Azure
    • Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring good data quality.
    • Collaborate with Project & Data Stream Leads, Consultants and business unit leaders for all exercises pertaining to the Data Platform
    • Create and maintain data model and metadata policies and procedures for functional design.
    • Provide technical recommendations and engage with ETL/BI Architects, Business SMEs and other stakeholders throughout the Solution/Data Architecture and implementation lifecycle and recommend effective solutions to develop high performance and highly scalable data solutions (data marts/warehouse and data mining and advanced analytics)

    • Drive a Data Platform environment that enables maintenance of the current and accurate view of the larger data picture, an environment that supports a single version of the truth and is scalable to support future analytical needs.
    • Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement and platform upgrades.
    • Communicate with customer, project team in a timely manner and escalates issues & risks appropriately.

    Required Knowledge, Experience and skills:

    • Deep knowledge of contemporary architectural principles across the data architectural domain
    • Understanding of the enterprise architecture to ensure on-going alignment, driving the technical roadmap for key applications and
    • Knowledge of different SDLC Methodologies, preferably Agile
    • Ability to produce solutions using:

    Business Analyst

    Role Objectives:

    • Responsible for bridging the gap between Insure Business (both Commercial and Personal Lines) and Information Technology and IT Software partners with special focus on Data Analytics. Over and above identifying, gathering, eliciting and analysing business requirements, the Business Analyst must be able to extract data from disparate sources, inspect, model the data discovered to make recommendations for business solutions. This role will also be responsible for the link between HI and IT as well as HI's external stakeholders including Partners, Service Providers and Brokers

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Working knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall
    • Attention to detail and quality to ensure that data is precise
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Creating visual presentations so that the data can be understood and used for decision making
    • Specialized skills in SQL, predictive analysis and data mining an added advantage.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Sound financial understanding for Cost Benefit and Financial business case articulation

    Business Solutions Analyst

    Job Purpose

    • The Solution Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between business and technology and/or software solutions team. Compiling the business, system & stakeholder requirements, the Solution Analyst combines the skill sets of both a business analyst and a systems analyst—integrating an understanding of organisational goals, operations, and processes with technical expertise to shape effective solutions. The Solution Analyst is responsible for assessing business, process and system impact, identifying solution requirements, and recommending the outcome.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Interacting with all relevant stakeholders and conducting business processes needs analysis to understand requirements with an objective of producing a concise business case.
    • Analyse and understand business requirements to identify changes and additions required to meet the business requirements.
    • Conduct impact analysis to identify and understand risk associated with an enhancement or project as well as input to risk mitigation strategies.
    • Make recommendations based on the interpretation of business and systems requirements, ensure that all impacts have been carefully considered, analysed and the resulting procedure and system configuration is the most appropriate and best meets business needs.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    
    Required Experience (relevant or in a similar role)

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ working experience in IT business analysis (2 years of which should be in the Short- or Long-Term insurance environment)
    • A minimum of 1-2 years’ current experience is required in the following areas:
    • System analysis
    • Data and systems migration, development, and integration, including working with data flows, sequence diagrams, ERDs, APIs, and SQL for data retrieval
    • Proficiency in MS Visio or similar for creating diagrams and process flows
    • Familiarity with wireframing tools (e.g., Figma, Pencil) for prototyping and UI/UX design
    • Conducting gap and impact analysis across processes, systems, functional, technology, and compliance requirements
    • Performing risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues
    • Facilitating/managing user acceptance testing 

    Required Knowledge and Skills

    • Agile/Scrum knowledge
    • Working understanding of Azure DevOps, JIRA or similar case management system
