    Scrap Metal Yard / Branch Manager - Cape Town

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Branch Manager`s primary purpose is to provide support to the Branches and will report directly to the Operations Manager. He /She will also be required to:

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Daily operations, planning and managing of the branch
    • Negotiating purchases with suppliers
    • Leading and managing a team in order to achieve operational requirements
    • Ensuring Company policies and procedures and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to
    • Ensure that staff members are trained on and strictly adhere to the Second Hand Goods Act
    • Maintaining excellent customer relations
    • Ensure that materials are accurately classified and graded at all times as per the set commodities list as per company policies and procedures
    • Ensure that commodities are weight correctly at all times

    Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

    • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Computer proficiency: packages required: MS Word, Excel
    • Good numeracy skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans

    Assistant Scrap Metal Yard / Branch Manager - Cape Town

    Job Description

    • The Assistant Branch Manager focuses on assisting and supporting the Branch Manager with the planning and managing of the branch’s operations and staff.
    • The Assistant Branch Manager, with the guidance of the Branch Manager, is responsible for leading a team to ensure that operational requirements are met.
    • Compliance with the Second-Hand Goods Act, maintaining good customer relations, and acting with integrity are crucial for this role.
    • The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to manage the branch on his / her own if necessary.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed
    • Maintain good customer relations and ensuring customer satisfaction
    • Ensuring that the scrap metal is purchased at the correct grade
    • Ensuring records are updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched
    • Ensuring Company policies and procedures, and health & safety regulations are adhered to
    • Lead and supervise a team in order to achieve operational requirements
    • Motivating staff on a continuous basis.
    • Ensuring that assistants thoroughly inspect scrap to be purchased
    • Ensuring that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying scrap by accurately recording all information required under the Act
    • Following clear and reasonable instructions from managers

    General Assistant - Real Steel (Epping)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The General Assistant (GA) will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

    • Housekeeping: Ensuring the cleanliness of all workstations and areas surrounding them

    Senior Security Inspector - Epping

    Job Description

    RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW)

    • Conduct daily inspections of security equipment.
    • Conduct daily parades.
    • Conduct uniform inspections.
    • Liaise with external service providers regarding all operational requirements.
    • Deploy security staff to critical access control positions and yard searches.
    • Compile and submit security reports.
    • Responsible for site alarms.
    • Submit daily risk and incident reports
    • Review CCTV footage daily to identify risks and incidents of crime and transgressions of Company policy.
    • Ensure that Security Officers perform access and egress control aligned with company policy and written task procedures.
    • Conduct investigations and compile detailed reports for Management.
    • Ensure security department adherence to SOP’s and relevant legislation.
    • Ensure all CCTV, alarms, systems and equipment are in good working order.
    • Ensure that Inventory lists are up to date.
    • Ensure that discipline is enforced.
    • Ensure that health and safety regulations are enforced and adhered to.
    • Ensure the release of material from site in accordance to company policy.
    • Plan and deploy staff to escort high value loads.
    • Ensure that the security logbook is completed.
    • Perform ad-hoc tasks as and when required by management.
    • Compile security rosters with Security Manager.
    • Compile and report overhead cost weekly.
    • Compile a monthly audit report.
    • Ensure that all security staff are PSIRA registered.

    QUALIFYING CRITERIA:

    • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent with good numeracy and literacy skills
    • Driver’s license and own, reliable transport is essential
    • At least 3 -5 years of Supervisory experience in the Safety & Security Sector.
    • Registered with PSIRA – Minimum Grade A
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Willing to work irregular hours (shifts) and overtime
    • In good health and sober habits.
    • Control Room experience is advantageous

    Security Officer - Epping, Wetton, Saltriver

    Job Description

    • The Security Officer’s primary purpose is to protect the personnel and all assets of the business. To prevent loss and damage by reporting any violations with regards to policies and procedures.

    The following tasks will include, but are not limited to:

    RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT limited to the below)

    • Ensure access and egress is controlled at all SA Metal property by completing the necessary registers and operating the gates
    • Searching pedestrians, vehicles and personal belongings of any person/s exiting SA Metal premises
    • Ensure that all customers and visitors are issued with PPE and that the PPE is returned after their visit
    • Ensure that any item/s leaving the SA Metal premises is accompanied by the relevant documentation
    • Ensure that all company procedures are adhered to before granting access to staff viz. Breathalyzer tests are conducted and passed
    • Ensure that all gates are manned at all times
    • Ensure that all the assigned areas are patrolled at regular intervals
    • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are fully adhered to at all times

    QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

    • Previous security experience, at least 5 years
    • Registered with PSIRA - minimum Grade C
    • Grade 12 or equivalent with good numeracy and literacy skills
    • Willing to work shifts, both day and night
    • Flexible and willing to work overtime
    • Excellent communications skills

    Forklift Operator

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The Forklift Operator’s primary purpose is to provide support within the Aluworks division as dictated by operational requirements in the form of moving material, bags, bins and other products.

    The following tasks will include, but are not limited to:

    • Carry out daily inspections of the Forklift and report any faults
    • Do general maintenance and cleaning of the Forklift
    • Move and place Aluminium products were instructed
    • Load and off-load aluminium materials on and off trucks or containers
