    SHEQ Practitioner – Health and Hygiene

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

    To provide a service to Samancor Chrome through the auditing, evaluation, verification, advising and support of the group’s existing Health and Occupational Hygiene Management Systems, to align with and bring about compliance to relevant legislation, codes of practice, recognised best practices, standards, rules and internal policies and thereby bring about alignment to our objective to achieve Zero Harm

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY  

    • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

    • Report on the Performance of Site Health & Hygiene Management Systems and make recommendations on findings

    SHEQ Superintendent – Health and Safety

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Evaluate existing S&H Systems, identify needs and implement audits and continually improve various Safety & Health initiatives in support of our objective to achieve Zero Harm.

    • Through the application of HIRA, audits, Health and Hygiene assessments, legal requirements, gap assessments and analysis of SHEQ Systems indicators (trends), identify Safety & Health trends, requirements/exposures and determine the potential impact it may have on the sites and introduce mitigation measures and controls to improve residual risk to prevent loss
    • Through exemplary leadership direct, evaluate and advise the Group on the implementation, application and maintenance of Legislative requirements and the Samancor Chrome SHEQ Systems and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • Implement requirements to align with Behavioural Expectations
    • Based on Risk Assessment residual risks, develop, align and implement Policies, Standards Operating Procedures, Protocols, Guidelines and Toolkits at Group Level,
    • Develop Learning Interventions to support implementation of Safety & Health Management System requirements, identify training needs and facilitate Safety & Health training courses
    • Facilitate external and conduct internal Safety & Health Systems and Compliance Audits and monitor and report closure on Audit findings

    • Maintain and evaluate the use and currency of the site’s IMS/EBMS/Chromedoc system
    • Keep the sites abreast with relevant Legislative changes and ensure site wide legislative compliance
    • Align the site with the Group SHEQ strategic direction and benchmark Samancor SHEQ Practices and Systems against Best Practice within other industries
    • Identify external SHEQ requirements/exposures and determine the impact they may have on the site
    • Identify learning Interventions and establish induction systems to support SHEQ Management System requirements
    • Audit, evaluate and direct sites to maintain ISO 45001 Certification
    • Analyze and interpret Site Lagging and Leading Indicator findings to determine trends and make recommendations based on findings – evaluate site’s response and value of recommendations
    • Participate in Cross Site Audits within Samancor Chrome to share or investigate SHEQ best practices
    • Refer to the Samancor Chrome Significant Incident inventories and use the lessons learned to direct pro-active initiatives at the sites to prevent similar occurrences.
    • Maintain the Contractor SHEQ Management Process
    • Establish, direct and monitor compliance to the site’s MOC processes and project deliverables
    • Establish and maintain a system whereby SHEQ related issues are effectively communicated throughout the site

    • Lead the Stores team to provide an efficient warehousing service, ensuring un-interrupted plant operations.

    • Optimise rotable stock items and related quality and repair warrantees
    • Perform Time and Attendance verifications for the stores department
