    Shunter

    Purpose of Job

    • A Shunter organises trains in order to safely manoeuvre from the exchange yard to loading and off-loading points at various business units

    Key Accountabilities

    • Adhere to Principles of safe movement on rail
    • Apply Basic Health and Safety knowledge
    • Insure plant specific rules and procedures
    • Know the Site lay-out
    • Apply Shunting procedures
    • Display of hand signals
    • Utilize Rail way vehicles and Rail way lines

    Maintenance Operator x2

    Purpose of Job

    • A Maintenance Operator supports the Maintenance team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of equipment.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Apply and maintain safety in a working environment
    • Participates in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA teams
    • Carries out work according to planning
    • Participates in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments

    Formal Education

    Junior Chemical Plant Operator

    Purpose of Job

    • A Process Controller operates process equipment and systems for a specific plant / unit within the Sasolenvironment to achieve production requirements in a safe manner

    Key Accountabilities

    • Participate in emergency preparedness exercise

    Production Foreman

    Purpose of Job

    • To ensure that agreed, on-specification, production volumes are achieved, efficiently and safely. To ensure that production contributes to the increase of the business growth. To lead and manage a production shift to ensure supply of product through the acquisition and effective & innovative usage of resources and to continuously ensure adherence to all quality, safety and legal requirements

    Key Accountabilities

    • Minimum of 8 years production experience, prior supervisor experience within manufacturing plant will be added advantage.

    Safety Standby

    Purpose of Job

    • To conduct risk monitoring during hot work, confined space entry activities as specified on the permit to work, based on the risk mitigations implemented and/or procedural requirement, or at a specified frequency, in order to identify potential changing process conditions.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Familiarise themselves with the location and use of the prescribed plant emergency equipment and the emergency alarm buttons in the area of equipment as stipulated on the work permit
    • Prevent people from interfering with the safe work environment as specified on the permit to work
    • Confirm that the emergency equipment required by the permit is available for the duration of the task and returned to the point of issue when work ceases
    • Familiarise themselves with the most suitable escape route and follow the area’s emergency procedures if an emergency situation arises whilst work is in progress
    • Ensure that gas tests are taken as stipulated on the permit and that the requirements of the permit are monitored for the duration of the task and act upon any deviation
    • Stop work during unsafe actions or at-risk working and return permit to permit control office.
    • Implement response actions during emergencies (Fires/Gas leaks etc.)

    Explosives Operator Gr 1 - Delay Manufacturing (D3) x7

    Purpose of Job

    • To reduce the diameter of a lead stubby and to cut delay elements into the required cut lengths. Compliance with all SHERQ procedures in daily operations.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Assemble and Operate 2 main Machines (Drawbench and Traub)
    • Do fault findings on the machines for any deviations from the setup
    • Reduction of delay stubby into a required diameter using draw bench machines
    • Perform quality checks on drawn tubes and cut element using Shadowgraph machine to ensure that all units meet the specified cut length
    • Housekeeping to maintain 5s standards
    • Do stock count of all the raw material in the production area
    • Do visual inspection and use relevant measurement tools and capture information on the Lot Traveler
