    Primary School Assistant Principal

    Purpose of Role:

    The Assistant Principal drives student achievement as an instructional leader by providing excellent instructional coaching and professional development to benefit classroom instruction and the Learning Lab. The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing teachers, blended learning facilitators, and PE coaches the training and support necessary to be highly effective, professional educators.

    The Assistant Principal is integral to the SPARK Schools “culture” and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the continual professional development of our educators by coaching members of the instructional staff to the successful completion of the goals set in their individualised professional growth plans. This includes designing and facilitating weekly professional development sessions for the whole faculty, as well as arranging for individual professional growth opportunities.

    • Support student achievement by setting clear and high expectations for excellent teaching in all content areas. Maintain a regular schedule of observations in all learning spaces and observation review meetings with educators to ensure that they can successfully plan instruction, execute instruction, and implement SPARK Schools’ culture and behaviour management techniques.

    • Implement the network’s rigorous curriculum, which aligns to and extends the South African national curriculum.

    • Implement online curriculum and small ­group tutoring in the Learning Lab that aligns to and extends what is taught by classroom teachers.

    • Facilitate an assessment and data analysis cycle that allows instructional staff to analyse student performance and identify areas for targeted instruction.

    • Collaborate with school leadership team to manage instructional staff, including facilitating termly and final evaluations.

    • Participate in the selection of new school-based personnel.

    • Responsible for the onboarding of instructional staff members.

    • Define and share information about network-wide policies and procedures to parents, students, staff and community.

    • Implement disciplinary policies and procedures.

    • Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the SPARK Schools team.

    • Conduct self in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    • English language fluency.

    • Grade 12 Certificate.

    • Completed B.Ed or PGCE degree.

    • SACE registration.

    Experience:

    • Previous experience managing or working with primary school-aged children.

    Head of Efficacy

    Requirements

    Responsibilities:

    • Leads the learning model team to:

      • Design and roll out high quality curriculum that meets and exceeds local standards and drives scholar achievement to global competitiveness.

      • Acquire or develop formative, interim, and summative assessments in all grade levels and subjects.

      • Translate rigorous assessment for learning into data analysis that drives personalised instruction and interventions.

      • Deliver effective professional development, communication, and change management to instructional leaders and instructional staff.

      • Create alignment between online and offline learning, as well as continued innovation and thought leadership in blended learning and personalisation in the learning models.

      • Ensure that all curriculum, educational resources, and pedagogical training reflect SPARK Schools’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and culturally-responsive teaching and learning.

    • Leads the High School Product Manager to:

      • Define and monitor the progress of the critical success factors for the high school model and SPARK Randburg, the network’s first high school.

      • Use customer research to inform the design and implementation of the high school model.

      • Design and confirm all elements of the high school model curriculum and assessments, backwards planning from matric assessments, in line with global standards.

      • Document and codify the school culture and school management model for high school, specifically highlighting deviations in practice from the primary school model.

      • Design and finalize the scholar value proposition for high school SPARK scholars.

      • Engage business units to drive strategic direction with regards to all elements of the high school, including the financial sustainability of the model.

      • Line manage and coach the Principal of SPARK Randburg, through a regular coaching cycle to drive personal and professional development, as well as build the Principal’s pedagogical content knowledge and the full range of leadership competencies needed to lead a high performing high school.

    • Creates a tool for evaluation of the codified learning model and inspection schools network-wide.

    • Drives efficacy and constant research and strategic development of the learning models, striving for world-leading learning model standards.

    • Champions Learning Management System, as well as any other systems related to scholar achievement, like gradebook and report cards.

    • Owns and steers the codification of the SPARK Schools model as documented on our knowledge management platform by:

      • Monitoring the effectiveness of the implementation and adoption of the codification in schools through agreed metrics.

      • Defining and implementing processes related to the change, update, addition, or deletion of resources the codification knowledge management platform.

    • Builds a regular rhythm of school visits and observations, in order to evaluate consistency and quality across SPARK Schools network, as well as identify the highest leverage network-wide and school-specific action steps for implementation.

    Primary School isiXhosa Teacher (IP)

    Purpose of Role:

    SPARK Schools FAL - isiXhosa teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all students. SPARK Schools FAL - isiXhosa teachers are content specialists, who receive on­going professional development customised for their past experience and individual needs.

    Requirements

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan for and be prepared to deliver lessons to students from 7:45­-3:30pm daily (depending on grade level assignment and timetable) within content area specialisation.

    • Grade R and 1 Teachers to assist and facilitate SPARK Design.

    • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and to create and implement high quality individualised behaviour and learning plans for students.

    • Participate actively all scheduled professional development sessions.

    • Administer Formative and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth.

    • SPARK Educators should have a core focus on student achievement and should drive all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings

    • Lead weekly SEL (Social Emotional Learning) circles.
