    Solar Inverter Service Technician, Johannesburg

    About the Role:

    • Sun King is looking for a qualified and motivated Solar Installation Technician to join our team in driving the adoption of clean energy solutions in South Africa. You will be accountable for the solar installations; from site assessment to system activation, and ensuring compliance with all South African safety regulations and standards

    What you would be expected to do
    Installation & Service:

    • Attend to installation requests and service queries, developing an efficient schedule for service delivery.
    • Identify faults and resolve technical issues with minimum customer downtime.
    • Carry out planned maintenance for inverters and associated accessories to ensure optimal performance and longevity

    Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct diagnosis of faults, maintenance, and repairs on all product-related technical issues in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
    • Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard, adhering to all company and industry safety and quality regulations.
    • Return products to full operational service following repairs.

    Training & Knowledge:

    • Build comprehensive training materials and hold training sessions for partners and customers on product troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and replacement processes.
    • Develop and maintain thorough expert knowledge of Sun King products and services.

     Customer Service & Dispute Management:

    • Deliver comprehensive service to inquiring customers, finding effective solutions to their issues.
    • Manage a large number of incoming calls and emails, keeping detailed records of customer interactions and actions taken.
    • Process product replacements and warranty claims within designated timelines.
    • Address and resolve customer disputes effectively, reporting on results and escalating issues when necessary.

    Drive Operational Efficiency:

    • Meet and exceed KPI goals, including service level timelines and customer satisfaction metrics like Net Promoter Score (NPS).

    Documentation & MIS:

    • Maintain accurate records of all service activities.
    • Provide periodic reports to management on after-sales and service performance, including common issues and resolutions.
    • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

    You might be a strong candidate if you

    • Have a minimum of  National Certificate in Electrical Trades (N3) or equivalent qualification.
    • 3 phase wireman license would be an advantage
    • A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar inverter systems and battery-based power backups.
    • Proven ability to diagnose faults methodically and perform high-quality repairs.

    Solar Inverter Account Manager, Johannesburg

    About the role:

    • The Solar Inverter Account Manager at Sun King will effectively plan, organize, coordinate and control the overall activities within the sales team to achieve set objectives around volume, gross profit, credit extensions to customers and growth. The incumbent will be a key driver in the execution of the Inverter EasyBuy strategy for Sun King.

    What you would be expected to do:

    • Meet or exceed KPI targets of volume, gross profits, costs and credit applicable to the sales territory.

    • Sun King seeks an experienced and dynamic Solar Installation Manager - Inverters to manage, coach, and optimize our inverter installation teams across South Africa. This is a pivotal, hands-on managerial role for a proven manager who will be the driving agent behind field excellence.

    What you will be expected to do:
    Team Managing & Field Force Management:

    • Manage, coach, and support a network of zonal and regional installation and service teams across the territory.
    • Drive professional growth within the teams, mentoring technicians and team leaders to develop best-in-class technical and customer service skill sets.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Installation Operations & Project Management:

    • Oversee the end-to-end installation process for solar inverter systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.

    • Address customer escalations related to installation quality or timelines promptly and effectively.
    • Monitor customer feedback and Net Promoter Score (NPS) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

    Operational Efficiency & Performance Metrics:

    • Be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs), including installation turnaround time (TAT), first-time fix rate, technician productivity, and cost per installation.
    • Analyze performance data to identify bottlenecks, implement process optimizations, and drive operational excellence.
    • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.

    Technical Training & Development:

    • Develop and conduct ongoing technical training programs on new inverter technologies, installation methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Participate in site assessments to assess suitability for solar panel installation
    • Assist with designing and planning solar system installations based on customer needs and roof specifications.
    • Install racking, solar panels, electrical components, and wiring, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
    • Perform electrical wiring and grounding according to code requirements.
    • Test and validate the installation and verify performance and efficiency.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance on solar systems and troubleshoot any issues.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all installation and maintenance activities.
    • Work effectively with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

    You might be a strong candidate if you

    • Have a minimum of  National Certificate in Electrical Trades (N3) or equivalent qualification.
    • Have a minimum of  One Phase Wiremen's License (this is a compulsory requirement)

    • Have knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and their components.
    • Have a working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, SANS Wiring Code (SANS 10142-1), and South African safety regulations (NRF, SANS IEC 60038).
    • Are able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
    • Have experience working at heights and in various weather conditions.
    • Are in excellent physical condition with the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.

    After Sales Support Executive - Solar Inverter , Johannesburg

    About the Role:

    • The After-sales Support executive will be the critical central point of contact for all inverter service-related activities in South Africa. This role is responsible for the efficient coordination, allocation, and follow-up of service claims and tickets, ensuring timely resolution to maximise system uptime and customer satisfaction. The Coordinator utilises remote system performance data to drive proactive service, manages communication between technicians, regional partners, and cross-functional teams, and ensures all operations adhere to Sun King's service quality standards.

    What you would be expected to do
    Service Coordination :

    • Service Ticket Allocation: Receive and process incoming service requests (claims, failures, maintenance alerts) and efficiently allocate tickets to the appropriate regional/zonal installers and technicians based on location, skill set, and workload.
    • Timeline Management: Proactively track and monitor the status of all open service tickets, ensuring strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal closure timelines.
    • Installer Follow-up & Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for field installers, providing necessary administrative support, clarifying ticket details, and consistently following up to ensure work completion and accurate report submission.
    • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with the logistics team for the timely movement and delivery of spare parts, replacement units, and tools to the field technicians to prevent delays.

    Remote Monitoring & Performance Tracking

    • System Performance Oversight: Daily monitor and analyze the performance of installed solar inverter systems using telemetry/remote monitoring dashboards to identify alarms, faults, and underperformance issues quickly.
    • Claim Validation: Cross-reference customer-reported issues with remote diagnostic data to validate claim accuracy before dispatching technicians.
    • Reporting: Generate daily and weekly service reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Average Response Time, Resolution Time, Backlog Status, and First-Time-Fix-Rate for management review.
    • Provide strategic insights to the After-Sales Manager to inform product development, service strategy, and resource planning.

    Cross-Functional Communication

    • Technical Escalation: Coordinate closely with the Senior Installation and Maintenance Engineer for all complex technical issues requiring advanced troubleshooting or root cause analysis.
    • Warranty Documentation: Ensure all service claims and repair processes are meticulously documented in the CRM/Service Management System to support warranty claims, product failure analysis, and audit trails.
    • Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with Sales, Product, and Customer Service teams to provide status updates on critical cases and communicate systematic issues from the field

    Technical Training & Capacity Building:

    • Design, develop, and deliver advanced technical training programs for Sun King technicians, installers, and partner networks.
    • Create comprehensive training materials covering installation best practices, advanced troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and telemetry interpretation.
    • Act as a subject matter expert and technical mentor for the service team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

    You might be a strong candidate if you

    • Have a minimum of  National Diploma or Bachelors in Electrical Trades or equivalent qualification.
    • A minimum of 3 years experience in Service Coordinator, Technical Support, or Logistics Coordination role, preferably within the solar, telecommunications, or a related power/electrical industry.
    • Solid foundational knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and electrical principles.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate and influence field teams effectively.
    • Passionate about customer service and resolving issues
    • Expert-level knowledge of solar PV systems, battery storage, and off-grid electrical principles.
    • Critical Thinker: Very strong ability to structure problems and drive towards solutions even in ambiguous situations
