    Technical Skills Trainer

    JOB PURPOSE

    • Drive the development of technical capability across the factory by delivering training, coaching and skills development programmes for Operators, Artisans, Technicians and Apprentices, while supporting safety, operational excellence, technical talent development and the effective management of training facilities and resources.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    Technical Training & Capability Building

    • Deliver engineering technical training across mechanical and electrical disciplines, using a coaching and mentoring approach
    • Develop engaging training materials and maintain accurate training records
    • Build and enhance on-site technical capability for Technical Operators, Machine Specialists, ICE Technicians, and Artisans

    Training Strategy & Execution

    • Execute the site training strategy and drive associated action plans to address technical capability and development needs
    • Maintain and update the Technical Skills Matrix and assessment records
    • Capture and track all training activities on the LMS platform
    • Support the population of Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), Annual Training Report (ATR), and BBBEE training spend tracking

    Compliance & Standards

    • Ensure site compliance with training standards, including the development of training and assessment tools
    • Maintain accurate training documentation and reporting processes

    Safety, Quality & Environment

    • Promote a strong understanding of workplace hazards and ensure adherence to all safety and environmental procedures
    • Embed sustainability into training by supporting reduction of environmental impact (utilities, waste, chemicals)
    • Ensure technical capability across the site supports and protects quality standards

    Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Act as a technical leader, promoting high-performing teams and linking technical skills with leadership behaviours (communication, integrity, accountability)
    • Lead engineering capability improvement through strong technical expertise and problem-solving

    Continuous Improvement

    • Conduct regular technical skills assessments and audits
    • Identify capability gaps and implement targeted development and coaching interventions
    • Drive capability improvements aligned to site priorities and support loss elimination initiatives

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

    EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5 years’ experience in Factory Training within a technical, FMCG, or manufacturing environment
    • N6/ National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Accredited or Working towards Assessor, Facilitator and Material design and development would be advantageous
    • WCM/TPM/ Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement mind set.
    • Solid experience identifying training gaps and implementing training programs
    • Proficient with leading training agendas and leading Learnerships/ Proven track record of impact of focused Programme and Development
    • Proven expertise in mechanical systems (mechanisms, motion, condition-based monitoring, materials, and tribology)
    • Strong knowledge of process engineering equipment (pumps, valves, pipework, vessels, agitators)
    • Hands-on experience with installation and replacement of major electrical components (motors, switch/control gear)

    SHE Facilitator

    JOB PURPOSE

    • As a SHE Facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in fostering Unilever's culture of safety, health and environmental excellence across our manufacturing site. Working closely with operational teams, you will help ensure compliance with legal and company standards, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support the delivery of a safe, healthy and sustainable workplace for all employees and contractors.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of site Safety, Health and Environment programmes and initiatives.
    • Drive compliance with SHE legislation, internal standards, policies and procedures.
    • Assist in identifying, assessing and mitigating SHE risks through inspections, audits, hazard studies and management of change processes.
    • Support incident investigations and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions to reduce future risk.
    • Monitor SHE performance, analyse trends and contribute to the preparation of site SHE metrics and reporting.
    • Coordinate and support internal and external SHE audits, regulatory inspections and gap closure activities.
    • Deliver SHE training, inductions and awareness programmes to strengthen site capability and promote safe behaviours.
    • Support emergency preparedness planning and emergency response activities across the site.
    • Manage contractor SHE compliance, ensuring adherence to site requirements and standards.
    • Drive awareness campaigns and engage employees to foster a proactive safety culture.
    • Coordinate occupational hygiene and environmental monitoring activities in line with legal and company requirements.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in SHE performance.
    • Maintain SHE records, compliance documentation, action trackers and statutory information to support governance and reporting requirements.
    • Provide administrative and procurement support for SHE-related activities, including the creation of purchase orders for external service providers.

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    Experiences & Qualifications

    • Degree or Diploma in Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum 3 years' SHE experience in a manufacturing or corporate environment.
    • Sound knowledge of SHE legislation, Legal Liability, HIRA, Occupational Safety Risk Assessments, and their implementation.
    • Experience in incident and accident management, investigations, and corrective action implementation.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SHE systems such as BuildApp, SPR, EPR, and SHENET.
