    BI Analytics Engineer

    Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

    • Work closely with stakeholders and BI Analysts to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.
    • Responsible for the full life-cycle development, implementation, production support, and performance tuning of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Business Intelligence Reporting environments.
    • Design and implement reporting and analytical solutions.
    • Analyses business and functional requirements and translates these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions.
    • Help to migrate the old QlikView and QlikSense models to our new Event-Driven Kappa architecture built on BigQuery, DataForm and Looker.
    • Ensuring that the data pipelines and general support infrastructure continue to run and operate in the most efficient manner.
    • Provide operational support, bug fixes, and performance enhancements.
    • Automating data extraction and report update processes.
    • Data validation and integrity testing.
    • Data cleansing and multidimensional data modelling.
    • Optimisation of data models.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics field or equivalent experience
    • 4 - 6 years related experience
    • 1 - 2 years of Python coding experience
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience using a BI reporting tool (e.g. QlikView, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Looker, etc.)
    • Minimum 2 years SQL experience
    • A thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms
    • A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including Linux and operating systems, networking
    • Experience using Looker, BigQuery and Dataform is advantageous
    • OLAP and multidimensional cube design experience
    • Have experience with Build Systems (Jenkins, Gitlab, Spinnaker)
    • Have experience with Google Cloud, or another cloud provider (architecture, operations)
    • High proficiency in working with large data sets and business models
    • Experience with Domain Driven Design (DDD) is advantageous
    • Experience working in Scrum and Sprint Agile methodologies is advantageous
    • Retail or e-commerce industry experience beneficial

    • In the event that a candidate does not have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Diploma (in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering), an equivalent experience requirement must be met, which equates to a minimum of 6 years experience in a software/technology environment.
    • Experience with open source relational database systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
    • Significant technical experience and a proven track record of data modeling and schema design
    • A thorough understanding of database and data warehousing principles (e.g. OLAP, Data Marts, Star Schema, Snowflake, etc.)
    • Write code (we use Java and Python)
    • Familiar with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Travis, Circle CI, etc.
    • Experience with Kafka, PubSub, or other event-based systems
    • Experience with stream data pipeline frameworks or solutions such as Apache Flink, Apache Beam, Storm, Databricks, etc.
    • Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, lambda/kappa architectures
    • Experience working in cloud environments and with containerisation frameworks, tools and platforms (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, etc.).

    Product Manager

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Build the overall vision for the order fulfillment aspects of the Checkout portfolio on all Takealot shopping platforms (web and apps).
    • Drive execution of a multi-year roadmap that prioritizes a mix of key strategic business initiatives and user experience improvements.
    • Lead the migration of business logic from other parts of the organization into Checkout empowering the team to create greater impact in the future.
    • Facilitate project planning sessions and lead projects through the lifecycle to achieve the stated business objectives.
    • Manage relationships with stakeholders, related to a specific vertical / roadmap, including obtaining stakeholder buy-in for requirements and relevant project status communications
    • Work hand-in-hand with a team of dedicated engineers and designers, aiming to deliver projects reliably against projected roadmap timelines (set and communicated to stakeholders on a quarterly basis).
    • Be responsible for defining and reporting on the success metrics of the projects on the Checkout Fulfillment roadmap.
    • Move the needle of the team’s “North Star” metric through consistent execution of projects.

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related field with at least 5 years of product management experience or exposure (through projects or responsibilities)
    • If the degree/diploma qualification requirement isn’t met, at least 8 years of product management experience or exposure (through projects or responsibilities)
    • Experience executing cross-functional projects, preferably in high-traffic digital environments.
    • Experience with a version of scrum/agile for project execution
    • Prior experience in ecommerce and/or Supply Chain would be highly preferred
