Job description

• Under general direction performs multiple repair and maintenance tasks, which could include, but is not limited to: carpentry work; plumbing; painting; flooring; removal and general facility repairs.
• General Plumbing: Toilets, faucets, fix leaks, etc.
• Carry out preventive maintenance schedules for drains, gutters etc.
• General Facilities Repairs: doors, doorknobs, locks, broken tiles, carpets, windows, etc.
• To undertake porterage tasks as required including setting up and clearing away furniture
• Carpentry & General Construction: woodwork, sanding, painting, etc.
• Assist trades people with electrical or HVAC repairs
• To attend to, where necessary, personnel visiting the site such as contractors.
• Identify and report the need for major repairs with regards to site facilities

Requirement

• Technical background in civil minimum N2 level.
• Valid light motor vehicle driver's licence will be an advantage
• Materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures
• Minimum 5 years Handyman experience
• Conflict management

Job description

• Technical Leadership and Supervision of the Shift artisans.
• Managing the artisan shift cover, holidays, training and project release time.
• Performance management of the shift engineering team to achieve KPIs.
• Coordinating Engineering Shift priorities (Reactive and Planned maintenance work).
• Planning and communicating shift priorities with FLM's to ensure effective support.
• Conduct 1:1's discussions with team members, Development Plans and PDR Objectives.
• Individual performance discussions and maintaining shift record cards.
• Utilisation of Shift artisans.
• Handovers and communicating compliance at Daily meetings.
• Return to work interviews of Shift artisans.
• Delivering Team briefs and updates.
• Coordinating the execution of engineering shutdown and breakdown activity.Facilitating team Problem Solving Sessions
• The person should be a self-starter, pro-active with in-depth technical abilities and have people skills to manage the shift team. Ability to deal with and resolve complex plant issues/equipment failures and coordinating key support for equipment breakdowns with high endurance levels.
• Qualified artisan with at least N5 qualification.
• Minimum 5 years maintenance experience in the FMCG environment.
• Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and maintenance software
• Technical abilities to resolve complex engineering plant breakdowns
• Analytical thinker with the ability to think globally
• The individual has to be a team player and thus be able to lead people.
• Knowledge of the OHSAct (safety legislation) is essential
• Experience in spares handling for engineering department
