    Assistant Information Specialist (Librarian)

    Job Purpose:

    •  Performs routine clerical duties to assist the Librarian and thereby provides a quality service to the Students

    Key Performance Area:

    •  Assist in running of circulation desk (issuing, renewal & returning of book loans)
    • Daily handling of newspapers (including scanning and clippings)
    • Daily handling of journals
    • Daily shelf reading
    • Check that all equipment (computers, printer, copier) are functional
    • Assist in updating of notice boards
    • Assist in preparing and mounting library displays
    • Assist students with using computers
    • Help students with OPAC searches
    • Ensure that library in neat and professional at all times
    • Provides clerical support to the Librarian eg photocopying handouts, helping during workshops, checking subject guides and database worksheets
    • N.B, In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.

    Education:

    • Graduate with a Library and Information Science Qualification

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year working experience in relevant field, preferably academic library

    Teaching and Learning Assistant

    Purpose of Position

    • To reduce administrative tasks on the T&L team in order to use their time on academic specific outputs and in turn positively impacting the success rate and graduation rate.

    Education (formal qualification requirements)

    •  minimum of 3year Diploma

    Position Description
    Administration (50%)

    • Filing of lecturer/ student consultations
    • Peer review documentation and administration
    • Assist and support in material issuing and collecting for lecturers (lecturer resource pack, lecturer handbook, access tag, notebook, stationery).
    • Ordering stationery for lecturers.
    • Ensuring the timetable is issued to OPS for capturing purposes on CAMS.
    • Compiling and coordinating assignment due dates in association with PC and OPS team.
    • Administrative duties relating to Lecturer/ Student Orientation and any other student support workshops offered by the T&L (feedback forms, registers etc.).
    • Agenda setting, minute of meetings (Academic Committee Meeting).

     Event Management (10%)

    • With the support and input from the PM/HOA arranges and coordinates T&L events such as, Lecturer and student Orientation, HoP visits, Directors Visit, Pulse visit, Celebrating T&L, Top Achievers Awards, CAT and CSO visits.
    • Manages and coordinates bookings of venues; Coordinates catch-up/master/ booster session schedules as per information received from PM/HOA
    • Graduation RSVP’s for lecturers (academic regalia, attendance, seating arrangements).


    Data Handling (data input and output, 20%)

    • Keep trackers updated
    • Student intervention tracker
    • Research tracker
    • Lecturer development tracker
    • Internal moderation tracker
    • Capturing of RCLearn hours as per RCLearn reports
    • Assist with SETS admin (opening of links, pulling reports)

    IC Administration (15%)

    • Printing of claims
    • Getting lecturer availability from lecturers for timetabling
    • Issuing of timetables to lecturers once available
    • Lecturer availability for consultations.Creating lecturer profile on APS
    • Uploading of documents on APS (qualifications, ID etc.)

    . Management of T&L Resources (5%)

    • Checking of venue readiness (whiteboard, proxima, air conditioning, tables, and chairs).
    • Ensuring venue sizes are correct as per timetable

    Academic Operation Coordinator JBH

    Job Purpose:
    The role of the Academic Operations Coordinator is to coordinate, implement, provide support and generally oversee the events and initiatives to enhance and improve the overall student experience. To manage assigned programmes, Lecturers and Students through effective communication, liaison and service delivery.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Client Liaison & Communication

    • Manage student queries via IIE RC assist as an agent.
    • Resolve or assist with queries or requests on IIE RC Assist.
    • Sustain relationships with external service providers.
    • Escalate queries / requests within the campus communication.
    • protocol and ensure effective information sharing / referral.
    • Capture and update student notes on SIS

    Academic Admissions and Delivery

    • Attend and assist in departmental meetings.
    • Process academic queries / requests to ensure timeous feedback; i.e. intercampus transfers, academic credits, subject rewrites, special assignment requests, results.
    • Ensure admission criteria requirements are met
    • Review Assessment Timetable in conjunction with Academic
    • Operations Officers.
    • Assist with physical exam scripts (courier and control for retrieval and marking)

    Academic Administration

    • Manages the administration of student data on SIS.
    • Manages deadlines for completion of data / spreadsheets for reports.
    • Documents academic query / request processes and outcomes.
    • Compiles graduation lists in conjunction with Academic Operations Officers.
    • Assist campus management and National with graduation.
    • Reviews assessment timetables in conjunction with Academic Operations Officer.
    • Allocate Lecturers and students to respective groups.
    • Assist with student and lecturer’s orientation.
    • Assist with student letters
    • Assist the team during all Internal and external audits
    • Complete all operational administration duties / tasks as delegated by Managers.
    • Managed specific tasks as delegated by the manager
    • Compliance – policy implementation
    • Report deviations via academic query to the management.
    • Give input on the annual policy review process.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Qualifications: Advanced Certificate / Diploma / Occupational Certificate Level 6 (NQF Level 6)
    • Experience: Administration and customer services experience 2-3 Year(s)

    Lecturer - Public Administration and Management

    Job Purpose:

    To teach / lecture an agreed number of hours based on module specialisation requirements.  To engage and prepare students for assessments by tracking module pacers, identifying and supporting at risk students, managing general student administrative support, and developing assessments by engaging with the Central Academic Team. Assisting the Programme Coordinator in tracking and analysing of academic results to evaluate the performance of the module and to identify “at risk modules”.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Deliver lectures and engage students based on module-specific requirements in line with module pacers
    • Manage resources including academic materials and liaising with the Information Centre
    • Update learning management system and provide feedback to students
    • Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at risk students, and develop assessments in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings
    • Monitor student engagement as well as assessment submission with relevant escalation
    • Attend and participate in academic meetings across all faculties
    • Reflect on, review, and analyse student module result
    • Support the monitoring of at-risk student in modules assigned to lecture
    • Academic Professional Development: complete a set number of academic professional development interventions per academic cycle (one year) that contribute to the improvement of the Brand’s Teaching-Learning practice and personal professional academic status

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Honours Degree / Masters in Public Administration and management or Masters in Political Sciences
    • Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education or equivalent will be advantageous
    • 2 to 3 years Lecturing or Formal Tutoring
    • 1 to 3 years of industry-specific experience in area of specialisation will be advantageous

    Key Competencies:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
      Knowledge and understanding of the Teaching and Learning theory and interventions.
    • The ability to provide student support services.
    • The ability to work with and learn more about digitalized academic platforms.
