Overview    

The successful candidates will be expected to ensure that all the prescribed duties are carried out in preparation for a blast, performing the blast and concluding post-blasting tasks, in line with all statutory, legal and BME SHERQ requirements. 

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 ( with Maths) 
• Blasting Ticket 
• Magazine Master certificate
• Ms office ( Word, excel, E-mail)
• Code 10 Drivers License and competent in driving

Experience    

• Previous experience in a mining / explosives environment
• 2 years Blasting/assistance experience (E)

Duties    

• Ensure that the correct accessories necessary to carry out the blasting assignment are drawn from the magazine once the blast design / accessory order is received where applicable.
• Ensure that inspections of the vehicle are completed and that the pre-use checklist filled in prior to the use of the accessory transport vehicle
• Ensures that all the tasks necessary for preparing the blast are carried out in accordance with statutory/legal/BME requirements, including priming, pumping and stemming, timing design, as well as all the SHERQ requirements
• Knowledge and making use of AXXIS system and equipment to execute the blast
• Making sure that all dets primed are logged with the correct timing and fire the blast
• Approves the blasting after ensuring the safety of the area and that the all the required pre-blast procedures have been correctly carried out
• Ensures that the required inspections are made
• Responsible for declaring the area safe after the blast
• Ensures that the necessary administration and reporting are completed
• Supervises the work of Blasting Assistants and mixer-placer trucks
• Deals with unacceptable behaviour
• Escalates serious offences to Foreman
• Allocates relevant housekeeping tasks to the blasting team and ensures completion thereon

Qualifications    

• Degree/B Tech in Analytical chemistry or equivalent

Experience    

• 3 years’ demonstrated experience in analytical laboratory
• 2 years demonstrated experience in quality control 
• 2 years demonstrated experience in an explosive’s environment

Duties    

• Execution of routine laboratory tests i.e. gassing of emulsion samples, viscosity and density measurements, etc.
• Testing of used oil samples.
• Assist laboratory personnel with projects.
• Consumable and glass ware stock control.
• Good housekeeping and cleaning of laboratory.
• Adherence to Safety standards and procedures
• Quality control
• Adherence to sound SHERQ principles

Overview    

The role is responsible for supporting the Internal comms head in building internal comms across the group and will manage all group wide communications channels and internal communications campaigns. Key objectives will be to create and manage group wide communication platforms that support efforts to build an understanding of the Omnia business strategy, vision, purpose, values and philosophy and to ensure that we embed brand and culture in the organisation through deliberate, effective and efficient communication. Change management communications will be a crucial part of the role. 

Qualifications    

• BA Social Sciences or, 
• BA Journalisim &
• BA Media Studies

Duties    

• Develop an internal communications plan for the group with Head of Internal Communications
• Communications to help drive efforts to create awareness and understanding of the Group business strategy, vision and purpose through effective channels
• Support internal flagship and group-wide communications campaigns with tailored and effective engagement platforms
• Support the roll out of and adoption of digital group communications channels
• Develop an engagement process and policy to assist leaders in communicating effectively and choosing the correct communications platform or channel.
• Identify existing group-wide engagement platforms and improve on the platform’s effectiveness and impact
• Closely collaborates with HR and builds partnerships and relationships across the company to drive the employee engagement agenda and culture
• Actively drive a communications engagement calendar that covers critical business issues like safety for roll out across the group
