    Assistant Lodge Manager

    Singita Sabi Sand is recruiting for an Assistant Lodge Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    The main purpose of the Assistant Lodge Manager is to assist the lodge manager (LM) in managing the lodge and the teams; as well as creating a memorable guest experience, in line with Singita Standard of Excellence and SOPs. 
    Report to the Lodge Manager and General Manager. 
    Assume the full responsibility of the lodge in the absence of the LM at any given time.
    Ensure ultimate guest relations in the lodge and that the “at home” personal attention levels are maintained.
    Support and active participation in effective human resources (inclusive of recruitment, inductions, onboarding, and performance management).
    Management and ensuring morale and ongoing skills development and knowledge of employees of the lodge staff.
    Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, gardening, and maintenance in keeping with the design visual audits. 
    Effective financial management through the administration of orders and stock control.
    Communication with departmental teams to ensure that guest needs are met, and operations run effectively.
    Effective daily administration of the concierge and reception duties.
    Ensuring the quality and care of equipment and products.
    Drive the broader goals of the company, in terms of the lodge, by planning and implementing Strategic Management Plans.
    Active participation in and effective communication and support of Singita's conservation message and purpose.
    All roles at Singita may be required to perform other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time and as required by the business and/or operation. Singita fosters a culture of collaboration, and with this support of the multi-skilling of staff.

    Skills & Experience

    • A minimum of 4 years work experience – in a similar position in a well-recognized five-star hotel or world-class lodge.
    • High standards of service excellence and a passion for the industry.
    • Exceptional Food and Beverage knowledge of its preparation and terminology.
    • Awareness of dietaries and allergies.
    • Financial management ability.
    • Exceptional English and a second language would be preferable.
    • Good computer literacy.
    • Excellent management ability and communication skills.
    • A clear understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures.
    • A developmental approach to staff.
    • Understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures.
    • An awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries, as well as international trends in hospitality.
    • Reporting skills. 
    • A hardworking, cooperative manner.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Assertiveness, patience, and good organizational skills.
    • Valid Driver’s licence. 
    • Citizenship or valid working visa.

    Tailored Travel Advisor

    Singita Management Company is recruiting for the following position: 

    • The Tailored Travel Advisor (TA) primary purpose is to provide a professional service to Travel Advisors worldwide who make direct contact with Singita. In addition to enhancing guest travel experiences, the TA assist in maximising revenue flows to support our conservation and community initiatives. 

    Reports to the Revenue Manager. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Active participation in and effective communication and support of Singita's conservation message and purpose. 
    • All roles at Singita may be required to perform other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time and as required by the business and/or operation. Singita fosters a culture of collaboration, and with this support of the multi-skilling of staff.

    Overall Goal of the Tailored Team:

    • Enhance the Singita guest and Travel Advisor experience by providing knowledgeable, expert travel advice and support.
    • Optimise the business opportunity provided by the Travel Advisors making direct bookings with Singita.
    • Encourages clients to adopt travel itineraries which include more than one Singita lodge experience.
    • Capitalise on guests’ planned visits to Singita lodges and introduce them to other experiences aligned with Singita’s brand promise.

    Third-party product exposure & Training

    • Participate in all Singita Travel product training (including doing site inspections).
    • Self-educate on Cape Town experiences: e.g. markets, restaurants, flight connections.
    • Research all Singita Travel 3rd party products (Southern & East Africa).
    • Research potential new 3rd party products & present them to S/Travel and S/Tailored teams.

    • Offer a seamless and exceptional experience to select Travel Advisors around the world:
    • The Singita Tailored consultant represents the ‘best of the best’ in terms of knowledge and service in the travel industry.
    • The consultant’s daily role is to build relationships and craft experiences (i.e. make travel arrangements) on behalf of travel advisors wishing to book directly with the company.
    • The purpose of this role is to offer comprehensive travel advice and to create individually tailored itineraries within Southern and/or East Africa using 3rd party properties that are aligned with Singita’s brand promise.
    • All itineraries must include one or more of the Singita lodges.
    • Travel Advisors are those trade clients who have been referred to the consultants by the sales team.

    Systems 

    • Become a master at using the required systems i.e. Lemax, Springer-Miller & WETU.

    Skills & Experience

    • Singita Tailored consultants are naturally intuitive individuals who champion and share creative ideas to deliver an exceptional experience to their Travel Advisor clients.
    • Experience in the Luxury retail travel industry or luxury lodge/hotel.
    • Exposure to selling experiences as opposed to itineraries.
    • Sound geographical knowledge of Africa.

    • MS Office suite proficiency essential; other systems an advantage.

    Financial Controller

    About the job

    • Singita Management Company, based in Cape Town is recruiting for a Financial Controller. This is a new position. The main purpose of the Financial Controller position is to assist the Singita Finance department in achieving the processing deadlines set for those entities managed from the Head Office. This person will report to the General Manager: Finance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Processing the full accounts of the Singita Lowveld Trust and assisting with general administration, tax compliance, annual budget preparation, drafting of financial statements and implementation of internal controls.
    • Ongoing maintenance of the various Fixed Asset Registers for all entities, which requires engaging with the lodge operations and fellow staff members on training and processing.
    • Assistance with VAT preparation including completion and submission of returns as well as corresponding with SARS on statutory audits.
    • Review of weekly, monthly and ad-hoc payments on the group’s online banking system.
    • Review/ check of the month end creditor reconciliations.
    • Process the accounts of the Singita Spa division.
    • Reconciliation of Advanced Deposit receipts for non-South African properties and remittance of funds due.
    • Timely renewal of Compliance documents (e.g., TV, liquor, SAMRO license renewals).
    • Assistance with internal/external audit and other administrative enquiries.
    • Assist with other reasonable duties as required. (e.g. Relief of colleagues)

    Skills & Experience

    • B.Com degree with Audit articles and have at least 8-10 years’ experience in a comprehensive accounting environment. (Or relevant SAIPA accreditation)
    • Demonstrable experience in submission of VAT returns; corresponding with SARS on VAT audits and a general understanding of VAT principles.
    • Above average proficiency in SAGE Pastel Evolution Partner Accounting & Fixed Asset modules.
    • Working knowledge of MS-Office software suite.
    • A good working understanding of general accounting principles.
    • Experience with policies and procedures dealing with Company Fixed Assets.
    • Experience in processing to Trial Balance and drafting basic Financial statements.
    • Analytical and curious mindset when it comes to reviewing and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Experience on Internet banking platforms (specific experience with FNB Online would be an advantage).
    • Be accurate and possess a strong attention to detail – being organised and systematic, et flexible.
    • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines and collaborate with colleagues.
    • Strong interpersonal skills (emotional intelligence, good written & verbal communication).
    • A South African citizen, or holder of a valid work permit.
    • Fluent in English.
