    Civil Engineer - (ENG-L5.31)

    Role Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all design and modeling aspects within the municipal services realm – from planning, conceptual design to detailed design and construction drawings specific to land development and municipal infrastructure.  (Roads, stormwater, water, sewer, telecoms, bulk earthworks)
    • Develop specifications, BoQ’s, cost estimates, and prepare final tender documentation.
    • Prepare reports required by the project, implementation of all relevant codes of practice and ensuring that all work complies with Zutari ‘s quality control procedures and is implemented to SANS 1200 or relevant requirements
    • Must be able to work in a team to support a leader but also take the lead on project designs.
    • Ensure that required drawing standards are maintained, construction supervision, and deliver excellent client service while being client facing.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc or BEng or B. Tech in civil Engineering
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in land infrastructure, specific to municipal services / built environment, in both public and private sectors
    • Must be proficient in Civil 3D , AutoCAD and MS projects.

    Project Commercial Manager - (PM-L7.3)

    Overview:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager to oversee and manage the commercial aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the financial success and profitability of our projects by managing contracts, budgets, and procurement, while also providing strategic leadership and guidance to the commercial team.

    Role responsibilities:

    Commercial Strategy and Leadership:

    • Develop and implement the commercial strategy for construction projects in line with company objectives.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the commercial team, ensuring cohesive and effective collaboration.
    • Participate in the review of performance standards for junior contract management team members

    Contract Management:

    • Oversee the negotiation, review, and management of all contracts, including subcontractor agreements, supplier contracts, and client agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all contracts.

    Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
    • Work closely with project managers to track project financial performance against budgets and forecasts.

    Procurement Management:

    • Lead the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and management.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors (when necessary) to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.

    Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate potential commercial and contractual risks associated with construction projects.
    • Implement strategies to minimize project risk and optimize opportunities for success.

    Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare regular financial reports, forecasts, and analysis for senior management.
    • Conduct thorough analysis of project financial performance and provide actionable insights for improvement.
    • Participate in reporting, documenting commercial and contract risks and issues, following up with contract management leads to coordinate completion of open actions
    • Escalate contractual and commercial matters to Project Managers

    Team Management and Development:

    • Manage and mentor the commercial team, providing guidance, training, and support for their professional development.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
    • Support the commercial lead in the development of a contract specific training programme for the organization to illustrate the importance of contract awareness.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
    • Proven experience with at least 10 years in a similar role within the construction and or consulting industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial management practices.
    • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and manage complex financial data.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership abilities.
    • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for financial and project management.
    • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

    Additional Information:

    • This is a full-time position based in Tshwane
    • Travel to project sites may be required.

    Substation Design Engineer - (ENG - L6.27)

    The responsibilities and experience listed below are a guideline into the role we are seeking to fulfil. The successful candidate will form part of the transmission and distribution team within Zutari that covers designs related to international renewable plants grid connections works and utility strengthening projects on a wide range of voltages from 11 kV up to 500 kV.

    Responsibilities:

    • Providing input into the design of transmission and distribution switching stations and substations which includes design from 11 kV up to 500 kV.
    • Substation Primary Plant design (Develop SLD, GA, Sections, EarthGrid, Lighting, Lightning, CCTV, Trench and Conduit layout)
    • Earthing design in CDEGS (From soil model development in RESAP up to detailed analysis in MALZ and HIFREQ)
    • Lighting design in Relux and Dialux. (Develop 3D models in CAD and import to Relux or Dialux)
    • Lightning Protection design in CDEGS based on international standards and Electro Geometric Modelling. (Develop 3D models in SES Shield)
    • EMF calculations and modelling in CDEGS.
    • Corona, Noise and RFI calculations based on EPRI methods and modelling in CDEGS.
    • Short Circuit Forces calculations based on international standards calculated with MATHCAD
    • Underground cable design up to 500kV in CDEGS and CYMCAP including cyclic loading analysis.
    • Compile BOMs, reports and engineering calculations.
    • Interpret standards and implement calculation formulas in excel.
    • Compile Primary plant equipment technical specifications and schedules.
    • Good understanding and knowledge of all substation equipment, structures, hardware, clamps, busbars, cables, and conductors applicable to voltages up to 500kV.
    • Basic CCTV and security design knowledge.
    • Basic Renewable energy design experience.
    • Basic LV and Secondary Plant experience will be advantageous.
    • Overhead line design in PLS-CADD will be advantageous.
    • Project management skills including schedules in MS Projects.

    Requirements:

    • B.Eng or B.Sc or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
    • 10 years relevant substation primary plant design experience in voltage levels up to 500kV
    • Excel, Word, MS Projects, CDEGS, CYMCAP, MATHCAD and RELUX or DIALUX
    • PLS-CADD experience will be advantageous.
    • Basic Microstation / Autocad skills
    • Wide range of general knowledge of electrical engineering
